Just Us GIrls #763 - Mood Board Week

Are you ready for a Mood Board?  Our host Elizabeth has picked one for this week's challenge at Just Us Girls.

Here's a larger view for you.

My eye picked up on the candles in the upper right corner.

I got the inspiration from my friend Bonnie's card.  The sentiment and candle dies are from Concord and 9th.  The flames are colored with artist markers ala Sandy Allnock, although mine don't begin to compare with hers.  Click on her name to see the lesson on how we've all been coloring fire wrong.  I used 12 candles thinking this would be perfect for my great grandson's next birthday.

What catches your attention in the mood board?  I wonder how the Design Team and our guest Stef were inspired.  There's plenty to see on the Just Us Girls blog.  Why not make a card for the challenge?

Inkspirational #319 and Group of Seven - Monochromatic

I got the Geo Tiles stencil from Pinkfresh on sale a while back thinking it would make great masculine cards.  I also thought Altenew's Natures Wonders inks would be great colors to use.  Inkspirational is looking for stenciled cards for their challenge.  I didn't use the paste option.

I must admit that I didn't line up the stencil perfectly so the die that comes with it wouldn't work but I like the card without it anyway.  The Penny Black sentiment was cut from cardstock made by inking the darkest color of the set - Mangrove Root.

The Group of Seven Cardmakers is looking for monochromatic cards this month so I'll be sending my card to them too.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope your week is off to a great start.

Double D Challenge - Oh Deer

Sometimes I have a great idea, or so I think, and the results are meh.  I'm posting it anyway over at Double D where they have this mood board for their Oh Deer challenge.

The upper right picture reminded me of a stencil from long ago from Funky Fossil so I dug it out and made this card.

The background deer and striped paper are from my stash, not from the same paper pack though.  I used Altenew Cloud White through the stencil, cut it with an MFT oval, layered it up and added a sentiment from PTI.  I know just who this will go to and that's why I kept going even though I didn't like parts of it.

I appreciate you taking the time to drop by.

Just Us Girls #689 - CAS Week

It's CAS Week at Just Us Girls and our host Ina has a theme for our cards.

I pulled out an old, old set from Papertrey Ink for my trio.

It's so old that their Topiary Trees are not available any more.  The tops were cut from cardstock colored with Distress Sprays.  I love the dimension the leaf cuts give.  The pots are from Desert Storm, edged with Distress Ink.  The sentiment is from also from PTI.

What three items will you put on your card?  It doesn't have to be an image like mine.  Let's see what the Design Team and our guest designer Kristin have used shall we.

The Flower Challenge #77

Welcome back to The Flower Challenge.  We had a short break and now we are ready to inspire you with our floral cards.  Are you ready to make some?  Challenge #77 is all about using your latest stamps/dies.

One of my newest dies is the Sulfur Cosmos from Altenew. So many possibilities for color and design

All the pieces were cut from white cardstock and then colored with Altenew inks.  For the background, I used a new embossing folder called Tiled Chevron also from Altenew.  The sentiment was stamped on a stitched circle and tucked in in beside the flowers.

We hope to see you in our gallery.

Seize the Birthday #253

I don't know why I don't play in Seize the Birthday more often.  After all birthday cards are what I make the most, besides Christmas that is.  I just happened to have an image that fit the prompt.

I foiled this Pinkfresh butterfly almost a year ago now when I had a crafting day with Bonnie.  That is what got me on the foil bandwagon.  It's been sitting in a pile of unfinished things that I finally went through to work on and knew it was perfect for this challenge.  It's inked up with Distress Inks in Spun Sugar, Salt Water Taffy and Abandoned Coral.  The coral was used to ink the sentiment strip too.

Thanks for dropping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #501

And they're off!  Freshly Made Sketches has celebrated 500 challenges and is now onto #501.  Kim has a great sketch for us.

I had the flowered panel uncolored in my box.  It's a background stamp from Erin Lee Creative that I cut down and colored with Zigs, using CP ink for the background.  The green is some Bazzill cs that I got from the LCS and the heat embossed sentiment is from SSS.

How about you?  Do you want to help Freshly Made Sketches make another 100 challenges?

The Flower Challenge #58

It's July and time for another The Flower Challenge.  This time we want to see Spots or Stripes on your cards.

The Design Team and our guest Enna have some wonderful cards for your inspiration.  Here's mine.

The stripes are some patterned paper I got in a PTI set a long time ago and it was just waiting for a challenge like this.  I colored some Altenew flowers with Zigs and added a sentiment from WF.

What will spots or stripes look like on your card?  I hope you enter this month's challenge.

My Blogaversary and Inspired By #176

I couldn't let the weekend go by without a post.  It's the 10 year anniversary of my blog.  I can't believe I've been doing this that long and I've enjoyed every minute of it.  I've made a LOT of new friends and sent out about a million cards since then.  I cringe when I look at some of my older ones but I've been inspired by and learned a lot from all of you.  Thank you so much for following me and commenting on my cards over the  years.  You're the best!

I brought a bunch of flowers with me to color this summer and I thought this one would work for the Inspired By challenge.

The flowers are from STAMPlorations - Dee's Artsy Impressions, colored with Zigs.  I didn't like the original sentiment I stamped and fortunately I had a paper pack with a color similar to the flowers that I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from MFT on   Not sure I like it even now but it's done and it's going to have to do.

Thanks for dropping by and sharing this momentous occasion with me.

As You See It #195

I really liked the sketch at As You See It this week and if I'd had time would probably have made more cards.
Black PTI frame,  Altenew flower and leaves, patterned paper and a vellum sentiment strip.  That's all it took to make this card according to the sketch below.
Thanks for dropping by.

Just Us Girls #284

I'm just squeaking under the wire with this card for Just Us Girls - Splatters.  I had the idea so sat down after supper and made it in half an hour.

I used a sentiment from Hero Arts and large splotches and brushes from Paper Smooches.

Thanks for stopping by.  Your visits and comments are always appreciated.

MUSE #92

I just got back from a Pom Pon High Kick competition that my granddaughter was in.  Her squad won first place in their division.  Yay, Emily!!

I did have a few minutes last night to make a card for the Muse challenge this week.  Nothing like last minute card making.  Here's the inspiration card from the very prolific Vicki.

I made a card a while back for Muse that had a polka dot background and I didn't want to repeat that so I went with stripes instead.

I used the diagonal stripe stencil from SSS and Distress Inks in Chipped Sapphire, Broken Glass and Peeled Paint.  I used the same colors with my aquabrush to watercolor the flower from Hero Arts.  The sentiment, also from Hero Arts, was stamped on vellum with Memento Tuxedo Black and embossed with clear powder.

My calendar is clear for tomorrow so I'm hoping to finish hemming the last layer of the wedding dress and then spend some time crafting.  I have my challenge list all filled in and some great ideas I want to try.  Thanks for stopping by.  Your visits and comments are truly appreciates.

MUSE #10

I always love Ardyth Percy-Robb's cards and this week she is the inspiration for the Muse challenge.

I was inspired by the color and it's placement.

I got the Happy Hexagon die and stamps from Papertrey Ink some time ago.  I am a quilter and this set just spoke to me.  Not loud enough to use it right away apparently.  lol   When I saw Ardyth's card, I knew it was time to break it out.  The sentiment was computer generated and the die cuts stamped with a variety of distress inks.  I used the negative space on the die to correctly place the hexagons.  I must say I think it is easier to work with fabric than these tiny pieces of paper.  *-*

STB 11

Here's the sketch for this week's Seize the Birthday challenge.  As you can tell by the pink background, it's to be a feminine card.

I went crazy at a scrapbook shop a year ago and this bright paper is one of my purchases.  I guess I liked it because it was fun, colorful and sort of girlie.  This challenge was the perfect time to bring it out.  The striped border was the backside of the print.   How fortunate was that?  I didn't have to go looking for something to match.  The sentiment is from My Craft Spot stamped in Dusty Concord Distress Ink.  The card is already in the mail to my DDIL.

FCCB 153

The challenge at Fantabulous Cricut this week is "Spring is in the Air" and you are to use a kite or balloon on your card.

I cut the kite from Create a Critter in white with a plaid overlay so I could color the bows with markers.  The background is a sky paper and the clouds are a die cut from Papertrey Ink.  I used Broken China Distress Ink to shade the clouds and stamp the sentiment from My Craft Spot's Tiny Tags 2.  The kite and two of the clouds are popped up on foam.

Thanks for stopping by.

Pattern Play 4 and PP137

Lucky me I was able to combine my Pattern Play homework with a challenge at the Paper Players.

In the Pattern Play online class we learned more about altering our pattern paper using whitewash, glossy accents, stickles and other things.  We also learned more about combining patterns.

Using the Paper Player sketch I cut circles from various papers.  (Now that I've previewed my post and see that the Paper Player card is supposed to be clean and simple, I may not qualify but I'm sending it anyway.  You could still count this card if you disregard the changes to the paper.)  The stripe, aqua and red all came from a Studio G pack.  The orange is one I altered to color match.

The original color is on top and it was too gold.  Using Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink, I colored over it making it match the stripe color with darker orange dots.

I added Glossy Accents to the centers of the design on this piece.  I can see by the picture that it kind of pooled in the middle as it dried.

I don't own any stickles (it's on my "to buy" list) but I did have some glitter paint by DecoArt.  I also put this on the red part of the striped paper.  The sentiment is from My Craft Spot

Thank you to the Seize the Birthday design team for picking my masculine card for honorable mention.  It was the first time I had the opportunity to enter that challenge and I am so thrilled.  Now let's just hope I can live up to it with future challenges.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

RS 55

Back in my craft room after a two month hiatus and I'm already trying new things.  Number 1 - I signed up for the Pattern Play online class.  I've never taken an online class before and I am enjoying it.  There's nothing like learning at home at your leisure.  Number 2 - I'm trying several new for me challenges.  Today's card is for the Retrosketch challenge.

I found two Core'dinations papers that went with my PTI print and cut them all with an EKSucces border punch.  I didn't have any ink that matched, so I generated the sentiment on the computer.  I had these pearls that happened to be the perfect color so I used them instead of a ribbon.

I have to go do my homework for class and I will post that later.

Thanks for stopping by.

STB #10

This is my second post for today so I can enter this card at  Seize the Birthday - a new challenge for me.  Here is the sketch -

and my card.

The guitar is a cut from Nifty Fifties and the sentiment is from My Craft Spot.
