Time Out #276

Can you believe it's November already?  Today is the day for a new challenge at Time Out and the word of the day is COZY.

I don't have much in the way of stamps that I thought said 'cozy' but I always think of quilts that way so that's what I made -  paper quilts.

The die is from MFT and I used scraps and sheets from several paper packs, attaching them to lightweight cardstock with Altenew double sided adhesive sheets.  Before adding it to the card base I ran it through with the Starburst debossing plate from Altenew.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Dies like this means there are always leftovers so I made a second card.

The quilting on this one is an embossing folder from WeRMemory Keepers.

Newton's Nook is the sponsor for this challenge and will award our winner a $25 store credit. For design inspiration check out what the Design Team and our guests have made.  We hope to see your card in our gallery.

Just Us Girls #738 - Color Week

Carol Mc is our host for Color Week at Just Us Girls.

It's a new month and time to welcome our next guest designer, Bonnie Klass.  She and the Design Team have used these hot colors in such cool ways.  Be sure to check them out for inspiration.

It was time to get out my flip flops dies from Paper Smooches.  I cut them with the requisite hot pink and orange, embossing the soles and adding a little flower for decoration.  This is a Monarch card (3.5 by 7) to fit them with a sentiment. That part was easy.  Not so with the sandy background.

It took me four tries to get what you see on my card.    From the top down:  Sand embossing powder which looked perfect before I heated it.  It turned gold.  Next I tried colored textured paste.  Another no. I got a little closer with the third one which I think is Frayed Burlap Distress Spray with too much spray.  I lightly sprayed it again for the final card, wiping it up with a paper towel for a lighter appearance and then splattered with Gathered Twigs.  The sentiment is from Honey Bee.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope to see your colorful card in our gallery.

CAS Mix-up Stencil 10/20

Today's card is for the CAS Mix-up Challenge.  This is a good one as there are many ways to do tone on tone with stencils.  In fact there are links to videos on the blog if you need inspiration.

I started with a piece of heavyweight Neenah and colored it with Distress Oxides in Aged Mahogany, Spiced Marmalade and the new Cracking Campfire.  Then I placed my Funky Fossil stencil on the paper, covered it with a baby wipe and ran it through my die cutting machine with an embossing mat.  The PTI sentiment was heat embossed in platinum on chocolate cs with a CP leaf cut from the same paper.  Because this is a CAS challenge, I cut the panel in half and ended up with two cards.

I'm so glad you dropped by today.  Have a good weekend.

Addicted to Stamps and More #229

Time for another challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More and this time it's

For my Clean and Simple card, I watercolored a NBUS Penny Black die with Distress Ink and placed it in an oval cut in a panel embossed with chain link fence and popped up with foam.  The sentiment is from HLS.

Now it's your turn to make a Clean and Simple card and enter it in the gallery.  We love to see how creative you are.

Just Us Girls #359

The girls at Just Us Girls threw me a curve ball this week.  It's Word Week and Ina chose "Travel".
I do not have any travel stamps.  No planes, trains, automobiles or boats. No maps or bicycles.  I had to use the only thing I have.
I call speeding down a snowy hill travel.  The sled and sentiment are from PTI and the stamped tree background is from PB.  A little snowy embossing and SSS hill cut ties it all together.

Join the rest of the JUGS Design Team and this month's guest designer Kathy Schweinfurth on the blog for more inspiration.  If you enter a card in the gallery you could be chosen our Chic of the Week and get a chance at a guest spot like Kathy.

See you there.

CAS(E) This Sketch #180

CAS(E) This Sketch always challenges me but I must say I'm not thrilled about the card I made.  Here's the sketch.
My thoughts were (1) use a PTI stamp that I haven't used in forever, if ever, and (2) make a masculine card.
The little squares are a die that comes with the set of a variety of designs. I chose this one to turn and make a completed pattern.  The squares and the sentiment, also from PTI, are stamped in Caribbean Sky by Altenew.  The tan-ish strip has been embossed with  MFT grosgrain.

I spent yesterday playing with some new products but no cards made. Hopefully I can complete some projects today and get some commenting done.  So many things to do and so little time.

Just Us Girls #345

It's always fun to pick a photograph to use as inspiration for a card and this week at Just Us Girls, Lisa chose a colorful photo with lots of elements for you to choose from.
I think I went with the obvious on my card.
I did some embossing folder printing for my background, cutting the panel with LF stitched rectangles and popping it up.  The flowers are from Altenew, the vase is a tag from MFT embossed with a geometric folder and the sentiment is from Hero Arts.

What do you see when you look at the photo?  My Design Team members have some wonderful cards to inspire you.  Head on over to Just Us Girls and take a look.  We'd love to see your card entered in the gallery.

MUSE #166

Tracey made the inspiration card for Muse this week and since I have the same stamp set from WPlus9 I pretty much copied Tracey's card.
Tracey's card
My card
There's a little color difference but that's about all.  I love this set and have only used it once.  Thanks, Tracey, for the inspiration to get it out again.

Less Is More #274

Yay!  Less Is More is asking us to use designer paper (in a CAS style) on our cards.  If you're like me, you have tons of it and love any excuse to use it.
The paper is from American Crafts and I put a smidgen behind a PTI Polaroid die cut and used another piece to cut the matching cup from YNS. The embossing folder picks up on the little flowers on some of the cups.

Have a wonderful mid-week day.

Muse #163

I got my Stamp of Approval box and was anxious to use one of the stamps. I thought this flourish-y image from Gina K would word great for this week's Muse.
I was inspired by the silver and pink in Jenni's card and silver embossed the image and the sentiment from PTI.  The flower from Sugar Pea is also embossed on some shiny pink paper and popped up.  Here's a close-up so you can see the shine.
And here's the card that inspired me.
Thanks for dropping by and have a great weekend.

HLS CASE The Designer and Stamplorations CASEplorations

When I saw the beautiful card Joyce Mehrberg made for us to CASE at Happy Little Stampers I knew I would make a card.  It's really a near copy of Joyce's but why mess with perfection.

You can tell by the watermark that this one is mine, using the same Altenew set but coloring with Distress Inks.  Here's Joyce's card.
There is a slight variation in the flower and leaf color because she stamped the layers on hers.  I love this technique and the stamp set so I can see making more of these in different colors and with different flowers.

Since we're CASEing designers, I decided to CASE this one by Donna Mikasa for Stamplorations CASEplorations challenge.
I didn't do a near copy of this one.  I didn't even come close.  Seeing it here I guess I'm a little closer than I thought.
A sprig from MFT Fall Florals in rainbow color with a little splatter and a CB sentiment white embossed on dark gray is my interpretation of Donna's card.  When you have two such talented ladies to CASE, the job is intimidating but easy.

I'm glad you dropped by.

Merry Monday #200 and CASology #193

Happy 200th challenge, Merry Monday.  I had to help celebrate with this card.
I based my card on the photo inspiration using SSS ornament dies that I stamped and embossed with sparkle ep.  The tops and sentiment are embossed in silver and silver thread hangs them from the fabric embossed background.

Creeping up on Merry Monday with challenge #193 is CASology whose challenge happens to be pink this week.  One card - double duty.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you have a great weekend.  It's going to be a warm one here and it's about time!

Less Is More #271 and CAS Mix-Up April

Quick post this morning as the Less Is More challenge is getting ready to close its door.  They've asked for a One Layer - Geometric Pattern.  I made another Thank You, surprise, surprise.
I masked off the edge and used a TH stencil with Distress Inks. The sentiment from PTI is embossed with some no-name purple powder.

I'm also sending this to CAS Mix-Up where you are to use a stamp, stencil and a choice of your own.  I chose heat embossing.
Thanks for dropping by.  I'm off to check other deadlines so I may be back later.

CAS(E) This Sketch #167

Sometimes it seems the simpler the sketch, the more difficult it is for me to come up with a card.  This week's CAS(E) This Sketch is a prime example. I made a card but it's so-so as far as I'm concerned.
Some colored pencils from Paper Smooches, stamped and clear embossed, make up the main part of the card with a sentiment from HA.

I'm trying to catch up with all the emails from blogs I follow but it may be a hopeless task.  They come in faster than I can comment.  That's a good thing because it means you are all having a wonderful time creating card masterpieces.  But it also means that letting you know how much I enjoy your creativity may be an overwhelming task.  I'll keep plugging away though.

Merry Monday #198, Muse #159 and CASology #191

I have three cards ready for last minute deadlines and so they will all be on this one post.  First up is Merry Monday.
We were to base our card on a Christmas carol and I used a PB stamp embossed in gold, with Silent Night as my sentiment.  The gold mat is some packaging I saved from my husband's cologne.

Next is Muse and the inspiration from Jenni Murray.
I went with the poppy matted in black of her lovely card.
Mine is from Sheena Douglas, colored with Inktense pencils. A sentiment from PB and a few spatters finishes it off.

Last up is my card for CASology whose cue word is 'washi'.  I'm not much of a washi person but I did win a roll along with some other items a while ago. I worked my card around it.
The washi has gold stripes so I added a gold word die and then thought it needed a little something else.  I ended up cutting a CF die from vellum and coloring on the back to tie in the washi colors. That green cs has a lovely sheen to it.

That's it from me today.  Thanks for dropping by and have a great weekend.
