Freshly Made Sketches #628 and The Card Concept #205

Hey there friends.  I'm so glad you dropped by.

It took two challenges to inspire my card today.  Freshly Made Sketches and The Card Concept.

The design came from the sketch and the bluebird came from the photo.  I played with the Winter Birds set from Honey Bee, turning the chickadee into a bluebird.  She needed a place to roost so I pulled out the birdhouse from WPlus9, cutting it from grays and embossing with Altenew's Window Slats folder.  It's perfect to make it look like it was built from wood.  A little greenery from Honey Bee and soft inking of the background finished it off.

I had a number of bluebirds at my meal worm feeder a few weeks ago.  It was such a thrill but sadly they haven't been back.

The Card Concept #202

I love the photo at The Card Concept and an idea popped into my head right away.  It took a village of stamp companies to make my clean and layered card.  Don't they play together nicely.

I was drawn to the pillow with the graphic trees in red and the sentiment in the window.  I used Distress texture paste through a Lawn Fawn stencil for the snowflakes on dark gray cardstock cut with Waffle Flower A2 dies, as was the red frame.  The tree is from Reverse Confetti (oob) embossed with red glitter from Ranger and the sentiment is from Penny Black.

Thanks for dropping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #607 and The Card Concept 200

While making a card for another challenge I thought the sentiment would be great as a focal point on the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches

From back layer to front: Plaid paper from Honey Bee.  Warm Cocoa cardstock from Gina K.  Leaves from Lawn Fawn cut from a panel smooshed with Distress Oxides.  A sentiment from Jillian Vance.

I'm also sending this to The Card Concept as a clean and layered design.  I haven't played with them since they came back from their hiatus.

Thanks for dropping by.  I give thanks to you -  my faithful followers.

The Card Concept #194 and NBUS #50

I was honored with a win at The Card Concept with this card.  I always try to play in the next challenge when I have a win or honorable mention so I have a clean and layered card for challenge #194 "Spring Bouquet".

I recently got the bird's next from Honey Bee Stamps and when I saw the nest in the challenge photo I knew it was time to use it.  It was cut from dark brown and kraft and splattered with Distress Spray and white gouache.  The little eggs were colored with what else but Speckled Egg DI.  The dogwood is also from Honey Bee, colored with a combination of Zigs and Spun Suger DI.  It's all on Soft Stone that has been embossed with a fabric folder.

The nest is new so I'm sending my card to NBUS

The Card Concept #193a

After reading the definitions of the acceptable card styles on The Card Concept I wasn't quite sure where my card fits, if at all.  It's either clean and layered, although I have no white space, or Freestyle Collage? Anyway I love this baby card that I created for my husband's grandson and his wife who are expecting a little one this summer.

That fox from HoneyBee's Heart Hugs is so cute I couldn't resist using him on my card.  He's cut from white and inked with Altenew Dusty Rose.  The background is a stencil from Winnie and Walter that was turned 90 degrees after the first inking to make a plaid.  The sentiment was stamped on Soft Stone that was cut with a Waffle Flower dome and then embossed with a quilt folder.

I'm so glad you dropped by.  Have a wonderful day!

Color Hues #60 and The Card Concept #191

I am a thief.  I admit it.  I stole the idea for my Color Hues card from the photo image at The Card Concept where I will send my CAS card.  My friend Marcia is hosting Color Hues and wants us to use blue and turquoise on our cards.  This was serendipity at its best.

The Mondo Gerbera Daisy from EbyE was white heat embossed on Bristol and colored with Zigs.  The Altenew butterfly was clear heat embossed over blue and the Zig was used to color it as well as the sentiment strip.  I struggled with the sentiment because I couldn't decide where to place it.  I'm still not sure that I shouldn't have just left it off.

The Card Concept #189

In my last post I said I enjoyed birds and was always inspired to make a card for a challenge that features them.  I feel the same way about quilts.  I am a quiltmaker and also have a collection of over 20, some I've made and some I've acquired.  This is all an introduction to my clean and layered card for The Card Concept

The die is from MFT, the paper from my stash and the sentiment from Altenew.  When it was all put together I ran it through my die cutting machine with a WeRMemorykeepers quilt embossing folder. You know when you use  a die like this you have lots of leftovers, so not to let them go to waste I made two other cards.

The sentiment for this one is from Your Next Stamp.

And for a little bit of humor I added this sentiment from MFT.

Thanks for dropping by.  If you're in an area of freezing rain and storm forecasts I hope you have a nice quilt to wrap up in.

The Card Concept #160

I didn't think I would be able to play in The Card Concept challenge until I remembered a card I made playing around with a stamp set from STAMPlorations.  It's a rather abstract sunflower but looks like one nonetheless.

I used a sentiment from the same set for my clean and layered card.

I'm glad you dropped by.  Please leave a comment so I know you were here.
