Inkspirational #358

I have another winter birthday card.  This one is for Inkspirational and their Shine/Shiny challenge.  It's my second post today since the challenge will be closing soon.  

The Snow Flurries Distress Mica Spray background was in my Bits Box.  Sorry the shine doesn't show in the photograph.  Hopefully you can see the shine of Altenew's Dazzling Diamonds cardstock that was used to cut their Layered Snowflakes.  More spray was used on a scrap to cut the sentiment from Altenew's Versatile Greetings, using the Dazzling Diamonds for the shadow.   In real life this has a ton of shine.

Seize the Birthday #318 and AAA Birthday #81

Today's card is for two challenges.  Seize the Birthday has the topping of "Make your own snowflake background" and AAA Birthday wants a winter birthday card.  Easy Peasy.

It's been a while since I've used a Concord and 9th Turnabout.  In fact I had to look at a video to remember how to do it.  I stamped it three turns using VersaMark ink and white pearl embossing powder on Blueberry.  Even though it's called white pearl it looks silvery when embossed.  'Winter' from TH was cut from white glitter cardstock and the Hero Arts sentiment was white heat embossed on Blueberry scraps and cut apart.  I have plenty of winter birthdays so this will come in handy.

ETA:  This card also qualifies for the Shine/Shiny challenge at Inkspirational so I'm sending it there after my friend Carol begged asked me to.  😁

The Card Concept #202

I love the photo at The Card Concept and an idea popped into my head right away.  It took a village of stamp companies to make my clean and layered card.  Don't they play together nicely.

I was drawn to the pillow with the graphic trees in red and the sentiment in the window.  I used Distress texture paste through a Lawn Fawn stencil for the snowflakes on dark gray cardstock cut with Waffle Flower A2 dies, as was the red frame.  The tree is from Reverse Confetti (oob) embossed with red glitter from Ranger and the sentiment is from Penny Black.

Time Out #253

This is the last challenge of the year for Time Out and they want to see your Sparkly cards.

I can't wait to see all the Sparkle in the gallery,  Will your card be one of them?  The winner of the challenge will get $25 store credit to Picket Fence Studio. 

I cut the Snowflake Circle die from silver glitter cardstock and turned that into a shaker card with sparkly snowflakes from Pretty Pink Posh.  The sentiment is from PTI.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown - Week 5

It's week 5 for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and this week is a sketch.  I tried a lot of different ideas because I didn't want to do what some of the Design Team did but nothing worked but this. 

I started by inking a panel with Distress Ink in Blueprint Sketch and Chipped Sapphire.  When it was dry, GinaK Glitter Glitz Gel was used over a Lawn Fawn snowflake stencil. The shine really doesn't show in the photo.  The sentiment from Concord and 9th was die cut from shimmer paper and layered on white.

Double D - Snow

When I think of snow, which we have plenty of on the ground now, I think of Snowy, my favorite Penny Black snowman.  I had one all ready to go for the challenge at Double D.  You can see their moodboard below.

His scarf and hat are paper pieced and his brim has the same Wanderlust embossing powder as the edge of the torn snow.  The snowflakes, cut from Altenew Dazzling Diamond cardstock, are from the same set.  The sentment is also from Penny Black.  Doesn't he just make you smile?

CAS Christmas Card Challenge - September 2022

I'm slowly but surely getting my Christmas cards done.  Here's the one I made for CAS Christmas - featuring Sparkle/Shine.

The stitched snowflake circle is from Memory Box cut from glitter cardstock and stacked three times over a circle that was inked with Stormy Sky and Prize Ribbon Distress Inks.  A few splatters and a silver heat embossed sentiment from Reverse Confetti finish it off.

AAA Challenge #204

Sometimes your stamp sets dictate that you play in a challenge.  That happened with AAA Cards and a stamp from CASual Fridays.

I mean how can you not play "on the edge with the option of snow" when you have a stamp like this?  I used silver pearl embossing powder and inked over it with Speckled Egg DOX.  The sentiment from HLS was stamped in the same ink.

Inspired By #198, Mod Squad December and The Paper Players #570

When I made  a card for Inspired By I had no idea I would find several other challenges that fit.  My friend Judy is hosting Mod Squad and chose Just Snowflakes for the challenge and The Paper Players have a winter wonderland mood board so my card will go to all three.

You know how difficult it is to photograph shiny features so this looks so much better IRL.  It started with TH Resist Spray through a Lawn Fawn snowflake stencil and then TH Mica Spray after the stencil was removed.  The resist didn't work as well as I would have liked so I added some other snowflakes cut from white sparkle paper.  The sentiment from Penny Black was heat embossed with Sparkling Snow.  It doesn't show up much better in this close-up.

Let's Squash It! #3 and Inkspirational #228

I forgot I bought this wonderful snowflake embossing folder last year.  It was time to break it out and make a card with it.  It's just what I needed for Let's Squash It! and Inkspirational.

You all know how hard it is to get a decent photo with silver embossing and glitter but take my word for it this card has them both.  After embossing the white cs I cut three snowflakes from glitter paper and glued them over the center of the biggest ones.  The perfect silver embossed sentiment is from Penny Black.

Inspired By #153

I kept looking at the photo inspiration at Inspired By and had half a card in mind when I ran across a die I hadn't used in a while.  It was a gift from My Favorite Things when Nancy, Michele and I visited a few years ago for Kathy Racoosin's Road Trip.

It's called Filled With Joy and has options to use in place of the O - like a snowman.  Perfect for the challenge.  I put the dies on a silver flocked paper and added a few snowflakes from other companies. 

This is starting my stash for next year.  I have another one to post later on and I will be making slider cards to hold gift cards for my grandchildren that I will show you when they're done.

Less Is More #433 and AAA Cards #179

I've been busy getting my cards ready to mail and discovered that I was a few short.  I went looking for challenges that might inspire me and I found two.  Less Is More ( one layer festive) and AAA Cards (optional twist of snowflakes).  

I stamped the CASual Fridays snowflakes border along the bottom edge of my card base and embossed it with Sparkling Snow powder, adding a few more flakes from Avery Elle.  Using an ink blending brush I added Speckled Egg Distress Ink.  The same ink was used for the Penny Black sentiment that was then clear heat embossed.

Addicted to CAS #176

Addicted to CAS is up and running again after our holiday break.  The first challenge of the new year as chosen by Stephanie is very appropriate in my part of the world.

I tried a couple of things before I got a card that resembled what I had in my mind.

I covered some SSS snowflakes with Nuvo Glimmer Paste and while they were drying I inked up a panel with Stormy Sky Distress Ink.  When it was dry I added a couple of stamped snowflakes that were embossed with Wanderlust embossing powder, glued on the large ones and added a sentiment from PB.

Where does the code word take you?  The Design Team would love to see how you were inspired by their creations.

Just Us Girls #104 - Word Week

Welcome to a new year and a new challenge at Just Us Girls.  Angie is our host and for Word Week she has chosen this:

Fortunately for me, I had a card made before I had thumb surgery that is perfect for this challenge.  I'm still in rehab so making cards again is going to be a slow process.

I used the C9 turnbout in various shades of gray and mounted the panel on gray cs.  The PB sentiment is silver heat embossed.

We have two guest designers with us this month.  Hannelie Bester of Desert Diva and Mary Deatherage of stampsnlingers.  You'll want to check out their designs as well as those of the JUGS team.  I hope they inspire you to make a card for the challenge.  You may be chosen Chic of the Week with an opportunity to be our guest for a future challenge.

CASology #326

Frozen.  The perfect cue word for Mid-Michigan as the temperatures hover below 32.  It's also the cue word for this week's CASology challenge.  We don't have them here but the word brought to mind my MFT polar bear stamp.

I colored him with PolyChromos pencils, adding a silver pen to the blades.  The sentiment (from My Craft Spot) and snowflakes are embossed with Wanderlust which I also added to the top of the 'ice'.  The shine is hard to see on screen but it gives a cold and frozen look.
