Just Us Girls #810 - Word Week

The word of the week is Valentine chosen by Carol, our host at Just Us Girls.

I needed some valentines for my youngest great grandsons and this was the perfect opportunity to get them made.

This little fellow is from Concord and 9th's Monster Love, cut in Gina K Key Lime. The patterned paper was a leftover piece in my stash and I paired it with some C9 Pebble cardstock embossed with the SB Cross My Heart folder. The heart was heat embossed with a sentiment from The Greetery (perfect size for small areas) and put on a paper pop up.

There is another monster in the set so they'll each get one.

He was cut from Sea Glass and colored with artist markers.  The patterned paper was an older piece from my stash and the heart is heat embossed with another sentiment from The Greetery's Love Sentiments Suite. It's on a paper pop up.

This is a good chance for you to get your Valentines made if you like to send them.  The Design Team and our guest Denise Morgans have some fabulous inspiration for you on the blog.  We hope to see you in the gallery.

Time Out #306 - Pick Two

It's time for a Pick Two Challenge at Time Out.

You can pick any two or more of the words to make your card. I picked red, pink, heart and aperture.

The gumball machine is from Concord and 9th, a set called I Chews You.  I turned it into a shaker using the die that comes with the set and plenty of foam tape.  I'm not going to explain how this goes together except to tell you it was stamped separately in Altenew Heartbeat ink, die cut and placed on a panel partially embossed with the SB Cross My Heart folder so I had room for the sentiment. The circle and heart dies are part of the set and they were cut from red and pink scraps.  I also added some Sugar Jelly Hearts from Trinity.

Now it's your turn to pick two and make a card.  You could win a $25 store credit from our sponsor Lawn Fawn.

I'm also sending my card to Color Hues for their red and pink challenge.

Color Hues #103 and Inkspirational #334

Color Hues is collaborating with Inkspirational for a red and pink challenge. If you link up to one, be sure to also link to the other.

In the summer of 2017 a challenge called CAS Mix-Up was in full swing (unfortunately it closed) and their technique was to use tissue paper.  Here is a link to Loll's video.  I made a card for that challenge but had this background left over in my Bits Box. I trimmed it down and added to a Soft Stone card base.  The same color was used for the SSS die cut sentiment and part of one from MFT (hugs).  The Sketched Heart from SSS was cut from white foil from Concord and 9th.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a great weekend.

The Paper Players #721

I have all my Valentine's made but I happened to see the Paper Players challenge and made another one.

The little hedgehog is from Honey Bee's Heart Hugs.  I just love those darling animals!  I used Altenew Artist Markers to give him the spines on his back.  The letter, die cut and sub-sentiment are from a couple of older SSS sets.

Thanks for dropping by.  If you are in the freeze zone, I hope you stay safe and warm.

Freshly Made Sketches #668

I was planning out my valentines and thought Freshly Made Sketches had a great design for one.

Paper is from an older pack by Stamps of Life except for the heart which is from another older pack that has lost its label since there are few pages left. The hugs die from SSS was cut from kraft.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a wonderful weekend.

AAA Card Challenge #281

I need to get busy on my Valentines.  I bought a stamp set from SSS that were good images for youngsters, not realizing they were full of hearts so I chose one of them to make a card for AAA Card Challenge using their twist.

The images were stamped with Gina K Amalgam ink and colored with Altenew artist markers.  The sentiment is from Altenew's Adore You.  Quick and easy and perfect for a 6 year old.

With so much freezing weather in one area of the US and raging forest fires in another, my prayers are with all the first responders who try to keep us safe and those who have lost everything.  I can't even imagine the heartbreak and devastation they have caused.

Thanks for dropping by.  Please stay safe yourself.

Inkspirational #309

Hey there.  I'm glad you dropped by.

All my valentines were done and mailed when I saw the heart challenge at Inkspirational.  Now I have a start for next year.

The Greetery's heart wreath was cut from white and inked with Distress Oxides in Rustic Wilderness,  Bundled Sage and Broken China.  The love die from Neat and Tangled was cut from textured gold.  Once in place I thought it looked lopsided so added a SSS heart in the same gold.

Stay warm and keep crafting.

Just Us Girls #713 - Word Week

It's Word Week at Just Us Girls and our host Elizabeth has chosen this:

It will be great for valentines, weddings, anniversaries, or just to let someone know you care.

Patterned paper to the rescue!  I need to start using it more and this is the second week in a row I have.  With this paper I didn't even need a sentiment.  Just the darling little kitty from Penny Black reading his valentine.  The image was colored with Altenew artist markers.

Now it's your turn.  How will love be represented on your card?  We'd love to see one from you in our gallery.

Color Hues #80 - Guest

I was lucky enough to win Marcia's challenge at Color Hues and invited to guest design for this week's challenge.  I have been playing at Color Hues for most of their 80 challenges so I had to say yes.  These are the colors.  Very February-like don't you think?  And what about their new graphics?  Perfect for a color challenge if I do say so myself.

MFT opened their vault recently and I jumped at the chance to get the Candy Jar dies and Companion stamps.

The jars are layered three times with some light inking around the top one - not very visible in the photo. The rest was a matter of stamping and cutting out the peppermints and inking paper with Kitsch Flamingo and cutting out the hearts.  I just happened to have Kitsch Flamingo spray so I used it on a scalloped panel from Neat and Tangled for the background.  The sentiment is on a jar label included in the set.

I hope you will check out what the Design Team has made in red and pink and play along in the challenge.

Tic Tac Toe #239

Hey there.  I'm so glad you dropped by.

The Tic Tac Toe Challenge worked great for one of my valentines - middle row across - red, patterned paper, valentine.  This one is for my granddaughter who loves puns as much as I do.

The tomatoes and sentiment are from Concord and 9th.  They were cut from colored paper and inked with red Distress Ink, whichever one gave me the look I wanted.  They are on a panel cut with a Neat and Tangled die and layered on patterned paper from my stash.  She'll get a kick out of this.

Freshly Made Sketches #619

The sketch at Freshly Made Sketches leaves it wide open for what goes in that square.  I need some valentines so I made this.

The image from Penny Black was colored with Altenew artist markers.  The DSP is from Honey Bee.

I need to get this in before the deadline.  Thanks for dropping by.

Just Us Girls #666 - Word Week

It's Word Week at Just Us Girls and Carol Mc has chosen this as our word.

Sparkle is always fun and sparkle hearts are even better.

It's been a while since I used the Sketch Heart from SSS.  It's cut from both light and dark pink glitter paper, along with a couple of other small hearts, and placed on a panel embossed with the SU Timeworn Type folder.  The sentiment is from Altenew's Best Sentiments mini set.  Another valentine ready to go.

Let's go check how the blog sparkles with all the cards from the Design Team and our guest Karen Walker. The gallery should sparkle too when you make a card for us.

Double D Challenge - Hearts

I've made valentines for my grands and greats and for the homebound people from my church.  I'm posting one of them for the Double D Challenge - hearts.  You can see their lovely moodboard below.

The heart die is from Reverse Confetti.  I made a number of cards with the outline in plain pink and filled them with the various patterns.  These are the leftover cuts that I couldn't let go to waste.  The sentiment is from HA.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a good week.

Time Out #230 - Inspired by Words

It's time for the Inspired by Words challenge at TIme Out.  You can use any part of the quote or the feeling it evokes to make your card.

Word challenges are not always easy for me but sometimes an idea just pops into your head and it seems to be the perfect card.

I knew right away I wanted to use these darling bears from Penny Black.  I had to mask off the presents that were in the foreground and extend the dock.  The image is colored with PolyChromos pencils. A heart from EbyE and some paper from Honey Bee finished it off.

AALL and Create is the sponsor for this challenge and the winner will receive a $20 store credit.

If you need some inspiration, the Design Team has wonderful cards for you on the blog.

Color Hues #56

I was honored to win the Navy and Cream challenge at Color Hues with this card.  Now I'm excited to be a guest designing for the current challenge.

I knew right away what I wanted to do with these colors.  It's not long until Valentine's Day so that's the direction I took.

I love this little gumball machine from Concord and 9th.  I turned it into a shaker with heart and round gumballs.  The background was embossed with the SU Subtle folder and of course I couldn't resist the puny sentiment.

I'm sure there will be a wide variety of pink and red cards on the blog from the wonderfully talented design team.  Let's go take a look.  I hope they inspire you to make a card for the gallery.
