Just Us Girls #713 - Word Week

It's Word Week at Just Us Girls and our host Elizabeth has chosen this:

It will be great for valentines, weddings, anniversaries, or just to let someone know you care.

Patterned paper to the rescue!  I need to start using it more and this is the second week in a row I have.  With this paper I didn't even need a sentiment.  Just the darling little kitty from Penny Black reading his valentine.  The image was colored with Altenew artist markers.

Now it's your turn.  How will love be represented on your card?  We'd love to see one from you in our gallery.

Just Us Girls #710 - Moodboard Week

Lisa is the host for Moodboard Week at Just Us Girls and this is the board she chose.

There is so much to choose from.  Here's a closer look;

I looked the board over thoroughly and thought of a few different things before I found an image already colored in my stash and went with it.

Can you see how I was inspired?  I was actually looking for a bear when I ran across my Gerda Steiner stamps that had this grumpy cat colored with Zigs.  The hat from SSS Winter Warmth fit him perfectly so I cut it from the center of the panel that I inked with Lost Shadow Distress Ink and embossed with Knitted Pattern.  A little puff ep for his pom pom, a label die from MFT and the sentiment from the SSS set was all I needed to finish it off.  I kept giggling the entire time I was making this.  I was going to do a different sentiment that would have had to be computer generated but then thought the brrr was like prrr and fit a cold and grumpy cat perfectly.  lol

Which one of the photos pulls you in?  Want to see what the design team and our guest Stef saw?  Head on over to the blog and then make a card for the gallery.  We'd love to see you there.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown 22-32

I got some stamps from a friend and decided to use one for the challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.  They want CAS one layer cards.  I love CAS.  One layer not so much but it was easy with this stamp from Penny Black.

I colored this gift toting cat with PolyChromos pencils and added a sentiment from Newton's Nook.

Thanks for dropping by.  How is your Christmas cardmaking going?

Twofer Challenge #41

I am sad to report that the Twofer Challenge will be closing after this month.  Our Darling Darnell has given us a wonderfully fun challenge for the last four years but family and health issues require more of her time and as we well know that takes priority.  Many thanks to you and your team, Darnell, for all the creativity we've seen on this unique challenge.

Here's the prompt.

I'm so glad I brought stamps with me that I can use for this final challenge.  I would have hated to miss it.

The images are from Gerda Steiner, colored with Zigs.

Here the little bulldog is all forlorn that he forgot someone's birthday.  The 'doghouse' is cut from paper from a Honey Bee Stamps pack with an MFT die.   The card base behind was inked with Altenew using a blender brush.

Here he is consoling his little cat friend.  After masking the horizon, the sky was ink blended with Altenew and then the top was masked and the grass added.  The little speech bubble just happened to be in the stamp set - one I computer generated a while ago.

I hope you'll make a card for this last challenge.  Or at least stop by and give the design team some love before they ride off into the sunset.

Time Out #126

It's time to start making valentines and Time Out has given us a push in that direction with their "Loving' challenge.
The sentiment and image courtesy of Penny Black.  I used my PolyChromos to color the little cat who is so happy to receive her valentine.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do.

Addicted to Stamps and More #304

Clean and simple is the way to go for this challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More.  I find that it's the way I go most of the time.
This darling kitty from Gerda Steiner is one I colored with Zigs during the 30 day challenge.  I cut the PTI Polaroid frame from polka dots, changed the ribbon color to match and added the sentiment from the same set.

Check out what the Design Team has done and then make a card to enter the gallery.  We'd love to see you there.

TIME OUT #113

Time Out has a word phrase for our inspiration this week.
I think most people zeroed in on the word "smile" and I was no exception.
I colored old grumpy cat from Gerda Steiner during the 30 day color challenge and just knew I had to make him into a card for this challenge.  The little bird is part of the stamp set but I had to generate the sentiment on my computer.  To make the background I stamped the Altenew woodgrain in DOX on the bottom and watered it down, then stenciled  Distress Ink above it for the wall.  This just cracks me up.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you got a smile from my card.

CAS(E) This Sketch #263

I bought a new stamp set from PB to have an image for one of my Design Team challenges and there was another one on there that I thought was cute and would work for CAS(E) This Sketch.
This time I colored with Inktense Pencils and added Glossy Accents to the balloons.  The sentiment is from an Altenew freebie I forgot all about.

It's the beginning of a busy week so I'll be in and out.  I hope your week goes well for you.

Addicted to CAS #130

Doni is the host for this Addicted to CAS challenge and she chose this as her code word.
Until recently I didn't have any cat stamps.  I don't have Copics and wondered how I could do critter images justice.  Then I fell in love with a couple of PB cat and dog stamps and gave it a whirl. Here's not one but two little cat valentines.
This kitty is colored with Inktense pencils.  To compliment the DSP I cut some tiny hearts and stamped them with sentiments from PTI.

This is the same design in a different color way with the exception of the sentiment which came from PTI.

Our sponsor is Happy Little Stampers who will award a $20 voucher to the winner.  Come on over to the blog to see what the Design Team has made to inspire you. If I can make two cards, surely you can make one for our CAT challenge.

Addicted to CAS #116

Kel is the host for Addicted to CAS this week and she has chosen the word
I recently made two card featuring bicycles but since it's the only stamp I have with wheels I had to come up with an different way to use it again.
The cat and dog come with the SSS stamp set so I put them on the bike as the 'good friends' in the sentiment.  Everything was colored with Zigs.

We'd love to see your CAS card with wheels.  Need a refresher on what CAS means?

Check out the Design Team for inspiration and enter your card in the gallery for a chance to win a $15 gift certificate from Happy Little Stampers.

Just Us Girls #366

The days are going by quickly and the end of October will soon be here.  It's no wonder that Chris picked this photo for the challenge at Just Us Girls this week.
Two weeks ago I was stumped about the pineapple challenge but managed to find a little one in a stamp set.  This time I was stumped by the black cat because I definitely do not have any cat stamps.  Cricut to the rescue.
I think I went back to my card making roots on this one.  Cricut cuts, lots of inking around the edges, layers, colored paper.  The cat is the only Cricut cut and since he was so flimsy (just look at those skinny legs) I decided to inlay the pumpkins so he could be glued down directly to the panel for stability. The pumpkins are die cuts from SSS,  the faces and web are from Winnie & Walter and the sentiment from MFT.  The cat had holes for eyes so I added some gold Enamel Accents and when it was dry I used a glaze pen for the pupils.  Scary enough for you? ;)

Jaydee and the rest of the design team have some terrific cards for you to see and be inspired by.  If you enter a card you may be chosen Chic of the Week and be eligible for a guest designer spot in December.
