Group of Seven Cardmakers Technique for November 2024

Why I never think to use the 'faux' embossing technique is beyond me.  It is so easy and gives a great look to your backgrounds, so thank you Group of Seven for highlighting this technique and reminding me of how great it is.

The Privet Die from SSS was cut multiple times from leftover Neenah that is a lighter weight cardstock than what I usually use so the card didn't get too thick.   To decorate it, I used Honey Bee's Winter Birds, Winter Greenery and Let Nature Sing sentiment.   I have another card in the works that I will add to the gallery when it's finished.  Like I said, it's easy and there are so many different dies that can be used.

Thanks for dropping by.

Color Throwdown #794

Hey there!  I'm glad you dropped by.

It felt good to actually make a card again.  Anything you've been seeing was created a while ago for my design team challenges.   Now I have a card that I made today for Color Throwdown.  Well one caveat.  The bird was already made and in the die package but that's what inspired me to make this card.

First the edges were taped and then Altenew Olive ink was applied around the edges.  I also used it on  SSS's Privet Branch.  The little chickadee is from Honey Bee's Winter Birds.

With tomorrow being Memorial Day here in the states, our area is having a parade, a service and a band concert.   Our summer cottage is in a veteran's community.  Rain is in the forecast but let's hope it stops before 10:00 am so we can remember those who lost their lives in the service of their country and honor those who continue to serve.

Freshly Made Sketches #582

Karren has a great sketch for us at Freshly Made Sketches and I had the perfect die cuts for it.

A bird house from WPlus9 embossed with a Spellbinders folder and a chickadee from HoneyBee came together nicely for my birthday card.

Sorry for two posts today but the dealine is nearing on this one and I have a number of other cards ready to post before their challenges are over.  I've been busy creating but also too busy to write a blog post.  You'll see more tomorrow.

Inspired By #199

Inspired By has been giving us options for the cards we make for their challenge.  Of course I went with the Tweet Winter challenge featuring a bird.

The background is a smooshing of Speckled Egg and Iced Spruce Distress Inks.  I stamped the berries from Altenew's Winter Florals and watercolored with DI.  The 'chickadee' is my alteration of the Robin and Wren set from The Greetery - not true to life but a fair representation.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope all is well with you.

CASology #274 and 25 Days of Christmas Tags - 4

I think things computer related are all in working order now so I pulled out one of my favorite tiny stamps to make a CAS card for CASology - code word "Tiny".

I've been adding some of my Christmas tags to the end of my blog posts.  I hope that's okay with Tracey and the DT.  I'd hate to miss out of any of those fabulous prizes because I didn't follow the rules.  Today's tag was inspired by this one on day four by Audrey.

The challenge was sponsored by Reverse Confetti but I don't have any of their stamps so I used a new one from Sunny Studio.
I colored the church with Zigs and added a little tree from ME.

I have a lot of tags to go look at since I'm way behind on Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags and Loll also has a mixed media tag challenge.  You'll see more tags from me popping up here in the next few days.
