AAA Colorful #13

Today's brightly colored card is for the AAA Colorful Challenge.

I got this Erin Lee Creative tie dye stencil a while ago and have made several cards with it.  This time I changed it up a bit to include the entire rainbow of colors.  While the sentiment looks black, it's actually indigo.  It's from Gina K and came with my Intri-cut.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you have a colorful day.

AAA Birthday #70

They are featuring one of my favorite techniques over at AAA Birthday - Ink Smooshing.  I got inky and made two cards.

This smooshing used a combination of Uncharted Mariner and Pine Needles Distress Inks.  Many layers later I was happy with the results but thought it needed something more.  Out came my new Terrazzo press plate from Altenew that was inked with Lisa Horton silver.  The border is C9 Peacock and the sentiment from PB was cut from holographic paper.

The second card has a darker vibe.  The same colors as above with a little Scorched Timber thrown in.  The Terrazzo was done in dark brown which is also the color of the border.  I tried a dark brown sentiment but it didn't show up so I picked out a lighter color using the dark brown as a shadow but it's not very visible in the photo.  It was fun playing with inks and now I have two masculine cards to add to my stash.

Thanks for dropping by.

AAA Birthday #59

Hey there, crafty friends. I'm so glad you dropped by.

I did a lot of foiling several weeks ago and one of the cards works well for the geometric challenge at AAA Birthday

I used blue foil with the Geo Blocks from Pinkfresh Studio.  The blocks were colored with a stencil and various blue inks.  The sentiment is from a pack of foiled sentiments I bought.  EZPZ masculine card for my stash.

I made another one at the same time.

This one is foiled in black and stenciled in shades of gray with a sentiment from Altenew.

I hope your week is off to a good start.

Tic Tac Toe #242 and a Prayer card

Hey there crafty friends.  I'm so glad you dropped by.

Whether we like it or not, we have a need for sympathy cards and since my supply was getting low I decided to use the challenge at Tic Tac Toe to make a couple for my stash.

I used the left column down: CAS, metallic, foliage.   The  SSS leaf die was large enough to get two cards.  Cut from green metallic paper, half the branch was placed on a stitched panel I found in my Bits box.  The sentiment from Avery Elle was already in the package cut in this light green that I thought worked well.  Here's a close-up so you can see the metallic shine of the leaves.

And here's the card made with the other half of the leaves.  This one is on an embossed panel.

Sometimes I don't put a sentiment on a card, either because I don't know what to put or the card looks good without one, and that worked to my advantage since I needed a couple of prayer cards for friends having health issues.

I pulled this card from my birthday box and cut the SSS prayers die from the same Honey Bee paper that the flower was made from.  The sub-sentiment is from the same set as the die.

What about you?  Do you ever leave sentiments off to choose one when you need it?

Just Us Girls #709 - Word Week

It's Word Week at Just Us Girls and our host Sue has chosen this;

We all could use a little sparkle in our lives and I made mine in the form of a birthday card.

The background was in my B&P box and I added some mica sprays to it for sparkle - then turned it into an edge to edge shaker with some random sequins.  The Penny Black sentiment was cut from very old metallic looking  paper from my stash.

Now it's your turn.  How does the word "Sparkle" speak to you?  Head to the challenge blog to see what our guest Stef and the design team have made for your inspiration.

ETA: This card also works for the challenge at Double D so I'm sending it there.  They are celebrating their eighth birthday.  Congratulations, Diane and Darlene!

52 Christmas Card Throwdown 36.23

The technique at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown is stenciling and that was an easy one for me although I did change my mind on what I was going to do as I looked through my stencils.

I started with a single layer stencil from Pretty Pink Posh, masking the berries so I could color them red.   The sentiment is from Hero Arts cut in red foil and layered for dimension.  I counted my Christmas cards yesterday and I have 62 done towards my goal of 85.  Not bad for the first week in October and all the Christmas challenges to come.

Thanks for dropping by.

Time Out #223

I have a card for Time Out but I may be entering another one before the deadline.  I really didn't have much with me to make something based on the photo but after a visit with Michele and using her die I came up with this card.  We will be heading back to Ohio tomorrow where I will have access to the rest of my crafting stash.

The Trinity Stamps die was cut from glitter paper and added to a DSP in my stash.  Parts of this die are extremely fragile and it was rather fussy to get those letters on straight without any ripping.

It's good to report that so far most of the Floridians I know are safe with minimal damage.  One has reported their residence uninhabitable and I have yet to hear from another who has a winter home in Englewood.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown 22-34

When I checked the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown yesterday I realized the challenge was about to expire so I quickly made a card.

The color challenge was blue, white and gold so I heat embossed the SSS Hand Lettered Holiday background stamp, inked with Prize Ribbon Distress Ink, trimmed it down with WaffleFlower A2 dies and mounted on a white cardbase.  With all the writing it didn't need much else for a sentiment so I die cut the word from WaffleFlower and stacked both the gold 'joy' and white shadow three times.  So EZPZ that I made another one in red at the same time.

So glad you dropped by.

CAS Mix-Up June 2022

I was so happy to have CAS Mix-Up back that I had to make a card.  I must admit it is not one I'm very fond of.  Usually I won't post cards I don't like but several times I have and find that other people like them and I've even won some challenges with cards that I thought were 'eh'.

The prompt for the challenge is to use gel/paste through a stencil.  I didn't bring many stencils with me so after some deliberation and the need for masculine cards I used my PinkFresh Studio argyle stencil.  I used Peacock Feathers DI on some light aqua cardstock for the first layer and when it was dry applied the texture paste through the second one.  The same Peacock Feathers was applied to a scrap so I could match the die cut sentiment from MFT.  The stenciled panel is popped up as is the 'y'.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you are having some crafty fun.

CAS Christmas September 2021

I love a plaid and that's what CAS Christmas wants to see on our cards.  I hope I get extra points for making my own plaid.

I used a background stamp from Concord and 9th, stamping it in CP Rouge ink.  I added Altenew Mountain Pine in the centers of the white spaces.  It didn't look plaid enough or Christmasy enough so I heat embossed gold through the red portions.  Luckily I had received the sentiment die free with an order from Scrapbook.com.  I heat embossed it with the same gold and stacked it up.  I'm way behind in my Christmas card making but at least I have one more card for my stash

CAS Christmas March 2021

Happy Birthday to CAS Christmas!  It seems like only yesterday but it's been three years since this wonderful challenge was started by Bonnie and Loll.

I'm finally back in my art studio so I can make cards for challenges and this is the first one I did.  Here is the prompt:

And here is my card:

I have to get back in the groove of photo taking I see.  This looks rather pink to me but it is definitely white.  I used SSS Chisholm Wreath, adding the bow and berries in red foil and the sentiment from Elizabeth Crafts in Neenah DS.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I'm working on a bunch more cards so you should have plenty to see if you stop by again.
