Just Us Girls #775 - Mood Board Week

Our host Carol M has chosen a very colorful mood board for us this week at Just Us Girls.

I remembered a circle trio shaker window that I got a long time ago from MFT and knew it would be a great way to use the inspiration photo.

I also have the plastic inserts so I cut two rows of three, framed the cuts with silver (part of the die set) and put some ancient sequins inside.  The inserts make shaker cards easy because you don't have to build up walls.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

There are many things you can do with the mood board but if you need inspiration be sure and check out what the Design Team and our guest Rosemary have made.

Just Us Girls #709 - Word Week

It's Word Week at Just Us Girls and our host Sue has chosen this;

We all could use a little sparkle in our lives and I made mine in the form of a birthday card.

The background was in my B&P box and I added some mica sprays to it for sparkle - then turned it into an edge to edge shaker with some random sequins.  The Penny Black sentiment was cut from very old metallic looking  paper from my stash.

Now it's your turn.  How does the word "Sparkle" speak to you?  Head to the challenge blog to see what our guest Stef and the design team have made for your inspiration.

ETA: This card also works for the challenge at Double D so I'm sending it there.  They are celebrating their eighth birthday.  Congratulations, Diane and Darlene!

Color Hues #75

I have a second card for Color Hues.

I actually made this background with Mica sprays first but thought it was too dark for the challenge colors.  After seeing other entries I decided to send it anyway.  The wreath and bow die is from Penny Black cut from silver and purple foil.  Sequins were added as ornaments.

Thanks for dropping by.

Time Out #238

It's the Inspired By Words challenge at Time Out.  "Dare to love yourself as if you were a rainbow with gold at both ends."

This challenge is being sponsored by Varada Sharma and the winner will receive $15 credit to her digital store.

I only have one end of the rainbow but there is a pot of gold there.  The pot is a cauldron from MFT, cut in black and sprayed with Mica Spray for a metal look. I drew an arc and hand cut each of the colors for the rainbow.  After they were glued down, I added the gold Celebration Confetti from PPP.  The upper corner looked a little bare so I added some clouds from PTI, stamping the sentiment from Altenew on one of them.  What looks like a black border is actually gold cardstock.

Let's head on over to see what the Design Team has done with these words.  You'll be amazed.

Seize the Birthday #260

Once I saw Kristina Werner's video making a balloon shaker I knew that's what I wanted to do for the challenge at Seize the Birthday.

I have another photo that shows the glossy black foil from C9 better.

The balloon die is from SSS, the die cut sentiment from Penny Black, and the background paper from Honey Bee.  I had an ancient pack of sequins from Lawn Fawn and the little tail is from their String of Lights.

I'm so glad you dropped by.  I love seeing your comments.

The CAS Challenges - Christmas, Watercolor and Mix-Up

It's not often I make a card that fits three challenges and I really didn't plan it that way but when it all came together my card worked for three of the four CAS challenges:  CAS Christmas, CAS Watercolor and CAS Mix-Up.
It started with the Altenew poinsettia that I thought I could do in pink and red for the Watercolor challenge.  For the Christmas challenge I needed to use the word "peace" so I combined it with the Mix-Up challenge to add dimensional die cuts by cutting the word from EBE and stacking it up four times.  So for Mix-Up I stamped and heat embossed the poinsettia, watercolored it, added a hidden sentiment and because the tape tore a tiny piece of the watercolor paper when I removed the die, I added a few sequins.  I was quite pleased with the results if I do say so myself.

Thanks for dropping by.  I do hope you'll check out these wonderful challenges.

Happy Little Stampers Christmas - August

I don't often use sequins on my cards but I thought Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge was the perfect time to make a shaker card.
Using a shaker pouch from MFT made this card easy.  I added a foil die cut branch from TH, an ornament hanger from CF and a sentiment from HLS.

The Design Team has some wonderful cards to inspire you and there's a $20 voucher to the HLS store for the winner.  We hope you'll join us this month.

Addicted to CAS #141

What an appropriate word Jaydee selected for our mid-July Addicted to CAS challenge.  I can't wait to see how you interpret this word.  For me it's days spent at the lake.
Although I'm not a flip flop wearer, I think they're cute and couldn't resist getting this PS die to make summertime cards.   I started by using a Clarity brush and Distress Ink to make a sky and water and then tore an ancient piece of paper with a sand image although real sandpaper could have been an option. ;) I used sequins for the centers of the flowers and printed the sentiment on my computer.

The rest of the Design Team has wonderful cards to inspire you.  Be sure you check them out.

CAS-ual Fridays #183

It's been a while since I've played at CAS-ual Fridays and I don't know why.  I think they slipped through the cracks even though some of my first stamps were from them.  I'm back on track now and have a card for their current challenge - Shaker Cards.
I used CF's bell die, filled it with red sequins and decorated it with TH greens and a bow from SPD.  The sentiment is from PB.  This may be the easiest shaker I've ever made although I now need to go get some more of the thicker fun foam.

Thanks to my friend Carol, I have learned more about my new photo editing program iPiccy.  There are still a few kinks to work out but things are looking up.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do.

Merry Monday #257

Merry Monday has a tall order for this week's challenge.  Add a tag.  That's easy.  I do tags all the time.  But you also need to include texture, bling and die cuts.  I think I came up with the perfect solution.
Tag and die cut: MFT tag die to make an ornament shaker.  Check
Texture:  Pine tree embossing folder.  Check
Bling: Stars and sequins in the shaker, plus silver ribbon and heat embossed tag holder, and the glitter paper on the ornament.  Check.
Got it all!

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do.

Addicted to Stamps and More #245

What sparks your imagination when you see this photo?  Why not make a card and enter it into the Addicted to Stamps and More gallery.  For more inspiration you can check out the blog to see the Design Team cards including mine.  Wait.  You can see mine here.

I decided to make a shaker card, using a sentiment from EE.  The one on the acetate is embossed in black sparkle and the other is embossed in white.

So put your sparkle on and make a card for us.  We'd love to see it.

Addicted to Stamps and More #235

What a lovely butterfly.  This is your inspiration for challenge #235 at Addicted to Stamps and More.
More than inspired, it looks like I actually CASEd the photo.  First I smooshed Broken China Oxide Ink onto watercolor cardstock and then stamped the large butterfly from PTI.  On another piece I stamped the outline of the smaller stamp numerous times in my MISTI to get a good black, then stamped the insets and the sentiment with the same Broken China.  Some blue and black splatters, a black sentiment addition and a few sequins were added to finish it off.

How would you be inspired by the photo?  We'd love to see your card in the gallery.

CAS MIx-Up and Inkspirational #130

I love smooshing so I'm glad there are a couple of challenges that give me reason to play around with it.  My card is for CAS Mix-Up and Inkspirational.
For CAS Mix-Up you had to do smooshing, stamping and your choice.  I heat embossed the stamped sentiment from A Jillian Vance Design and smooshed over it with Distress Oxides (emboss resist - my choice) plus I die cut with a MFT scalloped oval and added sequins.    Do you know how difficult it is to get a sentiment stamped straight on an oval?  Or cut an oval straight over a sentiment.  I thought it was even but now it looks like it's going uphill, not unlike my actual handwriting. ;)

In hindsight I should have done a birthday card since CAS Mix-Up is celebrating it's first birthday.  It's hard to believe that it was only a year ago that Bonnie and Loll began this fun challenge.  Time flies when you're having fun creating, doesn't it?  Happy Birthday and Many More!

I haven't played at Inkspirational in a while but they also have a Smooshing challenge so I'm sending my card there as well.

Thanks for dropping by.

The Heart Desires - December

We're only half way through the challenge at The Heart Desires so there's plenty of time for you to make a card and enter it in the gallery.  Here's the inspiration photo
and my card.
To duplicate the muted background I smooshed Spun Sugar, Tea Rose and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks onto watercolor paper.  I added a white embossed sentiment and a vellum tree decorated with matching sequins.

This is totally different from my first card which shows that there are many ways to interpret what you see in the photo.  What do you see?  And will you make a card to show us?  We'd love to see you in the gallery.

Just Us Girls #360

It's Trend Week and Lisa wants us to use sequins on our cards for Just Us Girls.  About the only time I use sequins is for a shaker card and that's what I did.
MFT provided the TV and sentiment while the paper and sequins came from my stash.
Why don't you make a card using sequins and enter it in the gallery?  You don't have to make a shaker.  Any use of sequins will do.  You may be chosen Chic of the Week and have a chance to be a guest designer like this month's guest Kathy Schweinfurth.  For more inspiration check out Kathy and the rest of the Design Team at Just Us Girls.
