The Paper Players #772

Ann has a beautiful array of colors for the challenge at The Paper Players and I was inspired by DT Claire's card.

This die set from Concord and 9th is called Spring Print.  I usually make a template to know where the 'puzzle' pieces go by embossing the panel with the die.  After doing that I thought the background needed something but once I embossed  with Altenew's Crystal Wall folder the template disappeared.  I think I did a pretty good job figuring out where they go based on a previous card front I saved just for that purpose.  I have had those Altenew Enamel Dots for ages and they were the perfect color to accent the blooms.  The foiled sentiment is from Spellbinders.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a bit of your day with me.

The Flower Challenge #105 - Add Embellishments

Where is the summer going?  It's August already and time for another The Flower Challenge.

I'm not a big embellishment user but it was fun finding a die set that I could design using them.

It all began with Altenew's Zero Waste Floral Cover die cut in white and the various flowers and leaves colored with Altenew inks.  I used their enamel dots for the center of the flowers and added a BetterPress sentiment.

Let's go see what the Design Team has for inspiration.  We'd love it if you got out your embellishments and decorated a card for the challenge.

Tic Tac Toe #231

Today I have a card for Tic Tac Toe, plaid - gingerbread - enamel dots.

The gingerbread man is from a new Spellbinders set called Stocking Full of Joy.  He's the only part of the set I used and he's decorated with icing from the set and enamel dots from Altenew.  The embossing folder is an oldie called Seeing Spots.  So old in fact that the embossing doesn't go to the edge of an A2 card so I trimmed it out before putting on my card base.  The plaid is from my stash and the sentiment is from CPD.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love hearing from you.

Time Out #133

Embellishments.  Not something I usually add to my cards but since Time Out wants to see at least two, I obliged.
I placed the PTI scalloped die on their Winter Wisteria cs which matches closely with the Altenew ink I used to stamp the Gardenia.  Gardenias are usually white but I love the look of this layered stamping in other colors so let's pretend it's a different flower. ;)  The little dots are iridescent ones that I've had forever and are fairly flat to mail, especially since the flower is popped up.

It's been a busy couple of weeks so I'm getting behind again.  I did have over 12 DT cards scheduled and only two are left.  I have two more ready to post today and then I have to get commenting. I love seeing how creative everyone is when I stop by your blogs.

Thanks for dropping by.

CAS(E) This Sketch #221

I have a quick and simple card for CAS(E) This Sketch, turning the sketch upside down.
A little cork, some ancient PTI paper with an equally ancient note punch for the top, and some enamel dots to represent push pins fill the bill.  The sentiment is from PB.
This one will go into my masculine file.

Thanks for dropping by.

Just Us Girls #368

Sue is the hostess for this weeks Just Us Girls and her word for the week is encouragement.
This card could be for anyone going through a rough time and you want to lift them up.  I made my card for my brother Bill who is going through treatment for throat cancer.
I've always liked this stamp set from PIT.  I 'tacked' it onto some cork which is on some woodgrain paper.

Our guest designer for this month is Cecile Ribon.  Go to Just Us Girls to see what she and the rest of the design team have made and then make an encouragement card of your own.  You may be selected Chic of the Week and be chosen as a guest designer for January.

And once you've made it, don't forget to send it. It could make someone's day.

PS: I don't usually enter my design team cards in other challenges but I thought this would be fitting for  the AAA Cards challenge - Masculine Cards.

Seize the Birthday, Tic Tac Toe #8 and Muse #161

I took a break from the thank you cards only because I wanted to enter one into the Seize the Birthday challenge with the floral topping.  It actually began as a card for Make It Monday and their color isolation challenge. Check out Ashley's video to see what that is.   As I was planning the card, I saw the challenge at Tic Tac Toe and used the elements in the middle row down - enamel accents, color, labels.
ETA:  Well my mistake.  The Make It Monday challenge closed last week but at least it inspired this card so I can't be too unhappy.
Background: Altenew Beautiful Day stamped in fog.  Floral:  PTI Vintage Linens colored with Zigs, with black Enamel Accents added to the center. Leaves: SSS Best Mom Ever (my only outlined leaf stamp)  Labels: Neat and Tangled.   I guess I could have called the center of the flower my enamel accents but decided to put the real thing on the card, just in case.

For another Thank You, I was inspired by Anita's card at Muse.
I had a piece left over from a faux mother-of-pearl challenge and made good use of it.
I added the die cut from CASual Fridays in Melon Berry and a sentiment from HLS.

That's enough for today although I have four cards ready for posting.  I had to make them while the inspiration struck and before I got immersed in Thank You cards to all the people who attended my parents' Celebration of Life and contributed to their memorial fund.  Thanks to all of you who have kept me and my family in your thoughts and prayers these past few weeks.  It's helped me make it through.  Cyber hugs to you all, especially those who sent beautiful hand made cards.

Just Us Girls #333 and Inkspirational #103

I came up with a new system for my challenges and due dates and it's working pretty good.  I can see at a glance what the challenges are and whether they are for one week or two.  This makes it easier to know which ones I need to work on first.  Speaking of first - my first card for today is for Just Us Girls whose word this week is 'Flowers'.
I saw Jennifer McGuire do some white pencil highlighting here and decided I wanted to try it with my PB lily.  I stamped the flower and sentiment in Unicorn White on Blueberry Sky and used a white Prismacolor pencil to color and add details.  I then added a few touches of Inktense pencils for some subtle color to the leaves and stamen.

I hear a lot of complaints about how difficult it is to do masculine cards.  I rather like to do them and made one for my entry at Inspirational - cue word 'Geometric'.
A stamp from MFT provided the argyle pattern, stamped in HA Soft Granite. I should have thought that through a little first because I do not have any gray paper that matches that color.  I opted instead to add a little color with red, matted on black with a black sentiment from SSS and a couple of enamel dots.

That's enough for today.  I'll be back tomorrow with at least a couple more cards.  When the Mojo's flowin' you just gotta keep goin'.  (insert big grin)

CTS #141

I love my patterned paper and although I don't use it often anymore, I was inspired to use it again after the Muse challenge last week.  CAS(E) This Sketch has the following sketch:

and that center square was the perfect spot for it.

Add in a couple three  PTI Scribble dies, a little strip of green, some seldom used enamel dots and the SSS 'hugs' die and there you have it.  My entry into the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.

Thanks for dropping by.

Papertrey February Blog Hop

Never try to make a card at the last minute.  I knew about the Papertrey February Blog Hop a while ago and waited until tonight to make a card.  Two problems:  It didn't go well under duress and pictures taken at night don't turn out well.  Here's the inspiration photo.

Spring!  Sounds wonderful, doesn't it.  Warm rain, budding flowers, singing birds.  I went with the flowers on my card.

I used PTI's Tipped Tops and Wonderful Words: Hello stamp set . This is my initiation into enamel dots.  I happened to have some in the right colors and that white panel needed "something".

Thanks for stopping by my blog.  I love reading your comments so please leave one and I'll return the favor.
