CAS Mix-Up - April 2021

I remember years ago when we used to paper piece Holly Hobby dolls.  Does anyone else remember or am I dating myself? I haven't done much paper piecing since then except maybe in a card challenge or two and that is what CAS Mix-Up is asking for this month.

I went through my stacks and stacks of flowers and found one I thought would look good paper pieced.  Then I went through pads and pads of paper until I found something to cut it from.  

This is Altenew's Gardenia stamped three times on various parts of the winter paper so I could cut it apart and layer.  I've said many times I'm not a good fussy cutter so thankfully my Hickory Smoke Distress Marker around the edge covered any bad cuts.  For my other mixed media requirements, I used a panel I made on my gel plate for the background and then die cut the Lawn Fawn scalloped circle on another panel and popped it up with foam tape. The sentiment is also from Altenew.

CAS Watercolor - May Reminder

I'm back with another card for CAS Watercolor as a reminder that you still have time to make a card for this month's challenge.

I have had this darling Koala set from SSS for quite a while and think I've only used it once.

Everything is watercolored with Distress Inks.  I gave Mama and baby a black glaze nose and eyes and placed them in a LF scalloped circle.  I mis-stamped the sentiment so I heat embossed it on gray and placed it over the original one. This will be going to my great-granddaughter for her 4th birthday.  She knows her Mimi (my daughter) loves koalas and will be excited to show her the card.

Just Us Girls #454 - Color Week

Yes it's color week again and Angie has chosen these colors for us to use on our cards for Just Us Girls.

My usual fair with light colors like these is to use flowers.  Not wanting to be in a rut I got out an old die cut and used it as the basis of my card.

I colored some Bristol with Twisted Citron and Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxides and cut the SSS birthday die from it.  I didn't have any yellow paper that I thought was light enough so I inked up one with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink and cut it with a Neat and Tangled scalloped die that ties in with the scalloped die behind the colored sentiment.

The Flower Challenge #19

I have some exciting news to share today.  I am one of the newest members of the Design Team at The Flower Challenge.  I put my name in during their last challenge and waited patiently to see if I would be one of those chosen.  Thanks to Aileen, Viv and the rest of the team for letting me work with them on this wonderful challenge.

I don't usually do shaped cards so the first shape I thought of was a circle.

I place my MFT circle die over the folded edge of my card base, cut it and then sliced off a bit of the back so it would stand up.  I placed a scalloped circle over the top to which I added a flower from Altenew stamped with HA ink. I heat embossed part of the sentiment from PTI with Platinum and stamped the rest in Onyx Black.

Inspired By Challenge # 12

I'm popping in tonight with a quick card I made for Inspired By.

The cup and flower are from Uniko, the sentiment from PTI.  I stamped a script background from PB on Soft Stone cs for the base and colored the images with Zigs after heat embossing the outlines.
