Tic Tac Toe #235

I'm finally able to do a little card making and i have a card for Tic Tac Toe - blue, snowman sparkle.

I used my favorite Snowy from Penny Black, coloring him with Zigs and paper piecing his scarf.  The  sparkle on his hat, the snow on the tree from Altenew and the ground is Snowflake Tinsel embossing powder from Ranger. I'm disappointed in how yellow it looks and that you can't really get the full sparkle effect in the photo.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Christmas Card Throwdown 4-23

It's week 4 of the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and so far I've had one each week.  Today's card features their technique of paper piecing.  I keep forgetting to check the new challenge so this one was made on the fly to meet the deadline.

This Christmas angel from Woodware looks so cute paper pieced with scraps from my stash.  The face, hands, feet and hair plus the holly were colored with Altenew artist markers.  The sentiment is from Sunny Studio.  We haven't had sunny days lately so the photo is not the best.

Thanks for dropping by.

CAS Mix-Up - April 2021

I remember years ago when we used to paper piece Holly Hobby dolls.  Does anyone else remember or am I dating myself? I haven't done much paper piecing since then except maybe in a card challenge or two and that is what CAS Mix-Up is asking for this month.

I went through my stacks and stacks of flowers and found one I thought would look good paper pieced.  Then I went through pads and pads of paper until I found something to cut it from.

This is Altenew's Gardenia stamped three times on various parts of the winter paper so I could cut it apart and layer.  I've said many times I'm not a good fussy cutter so thankfully my Hickory Smoke Distress Marker around the edge covered any bad cuts.  For my other mixed media requirements, I used a panel I made on my gel plate for the background and then die cut the Lawn Fawn scalloped circle on another panel and popped it up with foam tape. The sentiment is also from Altenew.

Haven't tried paper piecing in a while either?  There's plenty of inspiration from the Design Team over on the CAS Mix-Up blog.

CASology #364

The challenge at CASology sparked an idea right away so I had to make a card using their code word:  Tea
The tea cup and sentiment, both embossed in gold,  are from Altenew.  I paper pieced the cup from an old paper pack.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope your weekend is going well and you're keeping safe.

The Flower Challenge #17

I remember years ago when Holly Hobby was in vogue and we used to make shadow boxes by cutting images of her and layering the bits and pieces to make it look 3D.  That's really dating me I know but that's what I think of when you say paper piecing.  And I did a similar technique for my card for The Flower Challenge.
I used DoodleBuds from WPlus9 and stamped the flowers on a variety of DSP, fussy cutting it all, layer by layer.  It's a little difficult to see but the centers of the two largest flowers are popped up as are the two center petals on the brown flower.  Even though they are both red, the center of the red flowers is a different paper from the body.  I had so much fun making this and it was a good stamp set to do it with.

Inspired By ...Kitchen Love

There's another interesting photo image to spark creativity at the Inspired By... challenge.
I picked up on the colors, hearts, and tea.
The Altenew tea cup was paper pieced and the sentiment heat embossed.  I'd enjoy having a cup of tea with any of my bloggie friends.  How do you take yours?

Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

I don't often participate in the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop but since I now have a couple of images that I can use for it, I have a card to enter.

I paper pieced the cup from Altenew and stamped in some coffee (that I don't drink).  The postage stamp die was cut from a snippet that I thought matched one of the colors in the cup and  placed that on some Ripe Avocado that I ran through my fabric embossing folder.  I'd love for you to join me in a cuppa anything you like to drink. ;)

Just Us Girls #391

It's Wild Card week at Just Us Girls and that means Judy got to choose anything for the challenge.
She chose paper piecing.  This is not something I usually do and I think it's evolved since we used to layer the Holly Hobby girls back in the 70's, but that's what my card reminded me of.
I stamped the flowers from PB in Forest Glades ink on my card front and then again on some hombre paper in Rouge.  I cut out various sections, leaving one whole for the back and popping up the smaller pieces.

The rest of the Design Team and guest designer Laurie Unger have cards for you to see over at Just Us Girls.  This is Laurie's last challenge with us and it's been a privilege to have her designing along with us.   If you enter a card in the challenge you may be chosen Chic of the Week and be eligible for a guest designer spot.

See you there.

CASology # 164

I've been twiddling my thumbs all morning waiting for the internet to come back up so I could post this card for CASology.

I paper pieced the umbrella from Penny Black and added the sentiment from MFT.  Quick and easy.

So glad you dropped by.

Just Us Girls #295 and OCC

The challenge at Just Us Girls is paper piecing.  I did a card with this technique a while ago and really liked the outcome so here we go again.

I stamped the Penny Black flower in HA Cup O' Joe on 3 1/2" by 7" white cardstock and then several on red and purple paper from my stash.  I fussy cut the flower layers, inked the edges and glued them down, raising the top edges with foam tape.

Thanks for stopping by.  Your visit and comments are always appreciated.

Fusion - French Twist

No fusion today, just the color inspiration at the Fusion challenge.

I loved the tutu style skirt and took my inspiration from that.

I paper pieced a stamp from Penny Black, adding the script in Memento London Fog and the sentiment from PTI in HA Charcoal.

Hmmm London fog.  That reminds me that there's a Linky Party going on over at Kylie's Addicted to Stamps for Sandie of London Days.  I think this card is saying it wants to join the surprise and say "Happy Birthday" to Sandie.

Maybe you'd like to send birthday wishes, too.

A Couple of CASes

I don't know why I got into the Clean and Simple challenges.  I'm not really that kind of card maker but they just draw me in and I HAVE to make cards for them.  Today is the deadline for two challenges so I'm posting two cards.  I wish I could have combined them but that would have been difficult since one is a sketch.

My first card is for CAS(E) this sketch.

I tried several other things for the three elements but once I decided on the sentiment that I printed on the computer, these arrows from Accent Essentials seemed the perfect choice.

The second challenge is for CASE Study #142.  Here is the photo inspiration:

And my card.

The vine is cut from Cindy Loo and the flower from some Recollections paper.  I cut three images and put foam tape between two of them, curling up the petals a little.  The sentiment is from My Pink Stamper.  This paper stack had several pages of large image flowers.  This is the second one I have cut and layered like this.

It's going to be raining all day and tomorrow.  That means some time in my craft room after taking care of some business.

Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by.
