Color Throwdown #710

The soft color combination at Color Throwdown prompted me to make this:

Using the Stained Glass die and stencil from PinkFresh Studio, I colored the little squares with Dew Drops and Aqualicious Altenew inks on Spicy Yogurt paper.  The 'lead' die was cut with Desert Storm and glued over the stenciling.  I decided this might make a good masculine birthday card so I stamped the sentiment from Altenew in one of the same inks.  Stamping makes it look a different color than blending but it's still in the family.

Merry Monday #229

Challenges have started up again after the holiday break.  Today I have a card for Merry Monday - Angels.  I didn't think I was going to be able to make a card because my angel stamps are few but I decided to use one that I've used before in a different way.

I stamped the PTI stained glass on vellum in black and clear heat embossed. After coloring with Zigs, I layered the vellum between the card and front panel to allow the light to come through.

This was another of my bugaboo cards where things kept happening and I ended up with over four cut panels and two card fronts before I got two that worked without smudges, tears, and crooked cutting.  I'm just glad I ended up with one I am happy with.

CAS(E) This Sketch #196

The one thing I like about CAS(E) This Sketch is it is so open to interpretation.  And it challenges me.  This week I even turned the sketch on it's side which is rare for me. ;)

PTI stamps embossed in silver and colored with Zigs.

Another Christmas card for my ever growing  pile.  I'm not crazy about the stores displaying Christmas items this early but we card makers have to get a jump on it if we're going to have our cards ready to send by December 1 or shortly thereafter.

ATCAS #52

Addicted to CAS is celebrating their second birthday with a sketch challenge.

There are so many things one could do with this sketch.  I went very CAS and a little out of proportion.

I wanted to use my Stained Glass stamp from PTI.  I watercolored the image and around the sentiment included with the set with Distress Inks and  used the debossed side of the border ef.

Fusion #3

There is a very sad face sitting at this computer screen.  Again I missed a deadline.  I spent a lot of time and endured considerable hair loss trying to come up with a card for CAS this Sketch.  My fault.  I hadn't written the deadline time on my "challenge chart" and mistakenly thought it was today.  I'm not going to show it to you now because it may come in handy later.  I'm just telling you this so you'll all be careful in checking the challenge deadlines.

Instead, I'm posting my Fusion challenge card early so I don't miss that deadline.  Here is the challenge:

Last week the fusion section won and I have a feeling it will win again this week.  That's the one I chose.

This old brain of mine can't remember who posted this technique on their blog.  I think it was Kelly Griglione at Notable Nest but when I went in search of it on her blog I couldn't it find it to link it up.  Anyway, it's called stained glass.  I stamped the bird from a set by Inkadinkadoo (that I got cheap at Marshall's) with Versa Mark and embossed with black embossing powder on vellum.  Then, and here's the good part, I colored it from the back side with a fushia marker.  I love the effect.  The sentiment from PTI is also embossed in black.  I was ecstatic to find that my tape gun of choice (Glue Arts) has tape that is invisible under vellum.  Yippee!
