Christmas Card Throwdown 4-23

It's week 4 of the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and so far I've had one each week.  Today's card features their technique of paper piecing.  I keep forgetting to check the new challenge so this one was made on the fly to meet the deadline. 

This Christmas angel from Woodware looks so cute paper pieced with scraps from my stash.  The face, hands, feet and hair plus the holly were colored with Altenew artist markers.  The sentiment is from Sunny Studio.  We haven't had sunny days lately so the photo is not the best.

Christmas Card Throwdown 3-23

I hope you aren't getting tired of my Christmas cards.  I want to make at least one a week for Christmas Card Throwdown.  This week it's "Fairies".

I don't have any fairy stamps so I masked the halo on this angel from MFT and colored her with artist markers.  I think she looks like a fairy.  The background is made with Brushos and cut with a die from Neat and Tangled.  I had a little trouble with the heat embossed sentiment from Penny Black.  The "E" on enjoy did not want to stamp.  I must have done it over 6 times before I got a legible impression. Oh and did I mention the WOS on the star and Dazzling Diamond spray on the background?  Very magical indeed.

Twofer Card Challenge #33

This month at the Twofer Card Challenge they are allowing us to catch up with our holiday cards by making two Christmas cards instead of two cards for different occasions.  I took advantage of that and made these using the requisite stars.

I knew I wanted to use the EbyE Star Trail and played around with different images until I found something that pleased me.  Both of my images and sentiments are from MFT.

On black watercolor paper, I used Altenew metallic watercolors to make my aurora borealis.  The bear and iceberg were colored with Zigs and the stars were lined with glitter paper. It's difficult to see it and the sparkle of the heat embossed sentiment in the photo.

For the background on this card I used Distress Inks with a blending brush, then cut the panel with a N&T scalloped rectangle.  The angel was colored with Zigs and shimmer paper was added behind the stars.

Christmas Kickstart #4

This Christmas Kickstart challenge is asking for a heart on our cards.  That stumped me for a while until I was looking through my Christmas paper and found one that would work.  Then I remembered a NBUS stamp set and it all came together.

I trimmed the DSP so that the words were even on each side and then cut my center panel to fit between the words.  I watercolored the MFT angel, embossed the panel, added the sentiment from PTI and thought it still needed something.  The black strips along the edge make that center panel stand out from the background.

It's never too early to start making Christmas cards.  I hope you've found a challenge that encourages you to make some.  Maybe this one?

HLS Christmas - February

It's time for the February Christmas Challenge at Happy Little Stampers. 

I almost forgot I was on the team and had to hurry to get a card done.  Fortunately I had the perfect stamp for the optional twist: hearts.

The image and sentiment are from Woodware, stamped on Bristol and colored with Zigs.

Merry Monday #229

Challenges have started up again after the holiday break.  Today I have a card for Merry Monday - Angels.  I didn't think I was going to be able to make a card because my angel stamps are few but I decided to use one that I've used before in a different way.

I stamped the PTI stained glass on vellum in black and clear heat embossed. After coloring with Zigs, I layered the vellum between the card and front panel to allow the light to come through.

This was another of my bugaboo cards where things kept happening and I ended up with over four cut panels and two card fronts before I got two that worked without smudges, tears, and crooked cutting.  I'm just glad I ended up with one I am happy with.

We're having a holiday challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More this week. As it gets closer and closer to Christmas I bet some of you are panicking about getting your cards done. I recently purchased a snow globe stamp from Your Next Stamp and decided to use it to make a shaker card.

There are a number of images that fit in the globe and I chose the angel that I colored with Zigs, adding a Distress Ink background.  I stamped the bottom of the globe on silver and fussy cut it.  Some silver stars from PPP and seed beads fill the shaker and the PTI sentiment is embossed in silver.
