Just Us Girls #494 - Wild Card Week

It's Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls and Ina wants us to make a card with a fancy fold.
There are many ways to make a card for this challenge and you'll see a number of them that the Design Team and our guest designer Marlena have made over on the blog.  This is Marlena's last week and I want to thank her for all the terrific cards she has made this month.

I made a bridge card following directions from Jennifer McGuire.
The card base is patterned paper from PB, the 'bridge' is from C9 and the sentiment is from HoneyBee.  I cut the outline from vellum and colored it with DI.  Here's another view.
The card folds flat and fits into a standard A2 envelope.
Now it's your turn,  We'd love to see what kind of fancy fold you use for your card.  If you are chosen Chic of the Week, you could be our next guest designer.

Time Out #138

I don't have any what I call funny stamps except for the dancing ladies from IO.  That meant I had to put my brain to work to come up with something for the Time Out Challenge.
I pulled out The Whole Herd from MFT and decided chickens was the way to go.  I had this chicken wire die cut from KS and put it to use for the first time.  I stamped the Altenew wood plank background and put my Zig colored die cut chickens on it so their little faces could peek through.  Then it was sentiment time.  I didn't have anything in my stamps so it was computer generated.

Confession time: I don't usually force cards when I don't get an immediate idea, especially when I don't know who I'd send it to.  I've been busy with DT cards to get ahead while I'm on vacation so I haven't made any 'just for fun' cards.  I love playing with Time Out so I broke my rule for them.  Not my best work but it was fun putting it together.

Thanks for dropping by.

AAA Cards #143

My card for AAA Cards caused me to do some coloring for the 30 day color challenge.  It's not that I don't color often but it's usually for a design team and I can't post those to IG unless I just do a sneak peek like Kathy suggested.  I did post this yesterday and now I'm showing the entire card.
I used my PolyChromos to color the Altenew flowers on my very last piece of PTI's Ocean Tide.

Thanks for dropping by.  I'm sending you all happy thoughts.

Addicted to CAS #162

June seems to be wedding month (I have four anniversaries in my family) so it was such an appropriate word that Vicki picked for this week's challenge at Addicted to CAS.
I recently purchased the hemstich ovals (and circles) to go with my rectangles, and used them to make a place for my WPlus9 roses and the silver embossed Verve sentiment.  Damask embossing added some wonderful texture.

The Design Team has plenty of inspiration for you so please check out their cards.  We hope to see you make a wedding card and enter it in our gallery.

Just Us Girls #493 - Photo Week

I sure wish I could plant myself into the photo that Lisa picked for our challenge this week at Just Us Girls.

I tried to recreate the scene with my Newton's Nook stamp set.
I used DI to make my beach and ocean and then let it show through an MFT dome.  The margarita is colored with Zigs and some glitter was added to the rim.

Our guest designer Marlena and the rest of the Design Team have some wonderful cards to inspire you.  If you enter a card you may be chosen Chic of the Week with a chance to be a guest designer.

AAA Cards #142

One layer cards.  Not my favorite.  But black and white?  I love it so I had to put them together for  AAA Cards.
The image is from Altenew and the sentiment is from PTI.  QACAS

Thanks for dropping by.

Twofer Challenge #17

I love the topic of the Twofer Challenge this time - Bees.  I only have one bee stamp from RC but I love it.  Here's what I did with it.
You know you have to do a card for two different occasions using the same image.  First up is my uplifting card.
I mixed Distress Ink with translucent texture paste and spread it on my card base.  While it dried I cut the panel with a TH die and stamped the sentiment.  I colored the bees with Inktense pencils and replaced the wings on this one with some stamped on iridescent vellum with silver and sparkle embossed.
The background was make with Scattered Straw and Wild Honey DI through a Funky Fossil stencil.  When it was done I didn't like the white showing through so I spread the Scattered Straw over the entire panel that was cut with an MFT die.  Then I didn't like the white border so out came the Scattered Straw again.  The sentiment is from the same set and one I get a kick out of.

Thanks for dropping by.  Now that the floors are done and almost everything is back in order I will have more time to make cards and comment on your blogs.

CAS(E) This Sketch #326

I really didn't think I'd get a card made for CAS(E) This Sketch with all the turmoil at my house but I had the perfect stamp for the sketch and I just had to make the time.
The image is CP stamped in GinaK amalgam ink and the sentiment is HA stamped in CP All That Jazz on a MFT oval die cut, stacked four times.

Gotta run.  Still putting things back together after the last of the carpet was laid this morning.  I'm hoping for a calm evening when I can do some stamping and enter a couple of challenges.

Thanks for taking time from your busy day to drop by.

CAS Mix--Up Reminder

There's still time to make a card for CAS Mix-Up
My first card was rather feminine so I went masculine with this one.
I stamped the balloons from C9. stamped and masked the sentiment from PTI, then stamped then strings.  I used one set of Altenew Inks, adding one from a different set for the lightest balloon. White gel pen was used to make the polka dots pop.

Have you made an ombre card yet? The Design Team has inspiration for you.

The Flower Challenge #33 - Reminder

There is still time to play along with The Flower Challenge where Deepti Malik joins us as both a guest designer and sponsor.

I used another of Deepti's designs to make a background for this card.
I stamped the bouquet several times in Memento Rich Cocoa and colored the entire panel with Zigs and Distress Inks.  I wanted those little berries white so I used my embossing pen to color them in and white heat embossed.  The same brown ink was embossed on a vellum flag for my sentiment.

The Design Team and Deepti have cards to inspire you to make one for the challenge.  Please check them out.

Just Us Girls #492 - Color Week

Carol wants us to use one color on our cards this week but there's more to it than that.  You need to use the light, medium and dark of that color for the challenge at Just Us Girls.
I hadn't seen the banner when I made my card using blues which seemed appropriate for the Altenew Morning Glories.
Using a layered stamp I got all three colors on one image.  This is the newest set of Altenew blues and they are beautiful.  I used gray for the leaves and the sentiment from EbyE.

What colors will you use?  We welcome our guest designer for June, Marlena from Marlena is Faithfully Crafting.  She and the Design Team have some lovely cards to inspire you.  We hope to see your card in our gallery.  If you are the challenge winner you too have a chance to be our guest.

CAS Christmas - Gifts

One good thing about visiting crafty friends is they let you borrow their stamps and dies.  Last week on a visit to Michele's, she let me take the perfect die for the CAS Christmas Challenge.
The SSS packages look so pretty all wrapped in scraps of Christmas paper with silver foil ribbons.  Heat embossing the PTI sentiment caused my paper to warp and when I ran it through my Big Shot to flatten it out, the plate wasn't in the right place and made a groove on the panel.  I ended up embossing the background to cover it up and it is one of those happy accidents because I love the texture it gives.

I sit here looking at the photo on the screen and the actual card and the color is so different.  No matter what I do with my camera, my light box or my photo editing program, I can't get things to come out true to life.  And it's not consistent which is the frustrating part.  I've even gone back and forth from my camera to my phone and that doesn't make much difference either.   Maybe I just need to wait for sunny days and take all my photos then.  It doesn't look like we'll have many of those this week.  But with all the new floor prep I won't have much time to make cards anyway.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you have a great week!

Addicted to CAS #161

Jaydee is hosting the challenge at Addicted to CAS and she has chosen this as our code word:
My father has been gone three years now but I made a card that I could give to one of my sons or my son-in-law who are the fathers of my seven wonderful grandchildren.
These cute little pups are from Penny Black and I colored them with PolyChromos pencils, blending with Gamsol.  The sentiment comes from CF.

The Design Team is waiting to show you the cards they made to honor Fathers.  We hope to inspire you to make a card for the challenge.

Just Us Girls #491 - Trend Week

I had the honor of choosing the trend this week at Just Us Girls. My choice?
There are so many different ones to use and ways to use it.  I used my new Nuvo Expanding Mousse.
I put it over a TH stencil on GinaK paper, let it dry 10 minutes and then heated it.  Here's a close up.
I made one earlier, forgot about it and didn't heat it until the next day.   It doesn't expand much after that long of time.
Back to the details.  I smooshed DOX on mixed media paper to make the flower and leaves from Altenew's Garden Picks.  For the sentiment I cut a SSS tag from metallic paper and heat embossed the sentiment in gold.

Now it's your turn.  The Design Team and our guest Marlena hope you'll check out their cards and then make a card for the challenge.  You may be chosen Chic of the Week and have a chance to guest for a later challenge.

Tag You're It! #89

It's time for the next Tag You're It! challenge and your inspiration is this:
My umbrella is a die from MFT cut in patterned paper that was a gift from Nancy.  I originally thought of placing the umbrella on the pink plaid from the same paper pack but it got lost so I cut another SSS tag in green and layered them. A heat embossed sentiment from HLS finishes it off.

How does the photo speak to you?  Why not check out what the Design Team has made. We hope you'll make a tag for our challenge.
