Addicted to CAS #136

The code word for this challenge at Addicted to CAS was chosen by Ceal.

Since I lost my Mom two years ago I haven't made any Mother's Day cards and I don't usually send them to my daughter and daughters-in-law but this year may be the exception.

I started with a die from AliExpress. I stamped and embossed in silver the sentiment from Altenew and popped it up on foam.  The roses are from WPlus9.  I stamped a whole bunch of them one day and keep them in the stamp folder so they are ready at a moment's notice.  I need to do some in other colors too.

Just Us Girls #392

As Mother's Day approaches, our hostess Maria chose Mother as her word for Just Us Girls Word Week.

I lost my mother a year and a half ago but still made a Mother's Day card. Maybe I will send it to my daughter.

The flowers are Aletnew's Bamboo Roses that I borrowed from Michele and white embossed when we had our craft day a couple of weeks ago.  I thought I'd try watercoloring with DIOx's and it worked great.  I inked around the flowers with Limestone and stamped the sentiment from Altenew in the same ink.  The panel was cut with a scalloped rectangle from N & T and mounted on Soft Stone.

FMS #185, Card Concept #34 and ATSM #145

It seems like forever since I've made and posted a card.  I have one today that's for three challenges.  I used the sketch from Freshly Made to make a Mother's Day card (Addicted to Stamps - holiday) using the colors from The Card Concept,

The background paper is from PTI's Beautiful Brushstroke kit, cut with SSS stitched rectangles, as is the white layer.  The roses and sentiment are from SSS's Best Mom Ever.  Using both Worn Lipstick DI and VersaMark, I stamped and clear embossed the flowers on watercolor paper, then water-colored them with the DI.  I did the same for the leaves in Peeled Paint. I also used Worn Lipstick to color my banner after clear embossing PTI's Polka Dot Basics.  A vellum banner was added and the sentiment was stamped in HA Charcoal.

The Card Concept #28

You know what they say about "best laid plans".  No?  Well they oft go awry.  My plan to do some quilting today has been offset by an appointment with the attorney and a number of things she needed me to do to prepare for my Dad's Medicaid  application.  I't a good thing I'm organized. Otherwise I'd be bald by now.

But that's not why you came here.  You came to see what I've been playing with in my craft room.  This card is for The Card Concept in the clean and layered category..

I was inspired by the roses and the wood box they are in, but I also saw the gray leaves and brown filler so  ta da....

I am a little disappointed in my wood.  It looked darker after I swiped my embossing folder with HA Soft Brown ink but the ink faded.  :(  The roses from Penny Black are stamped and sort of watercolored with Worn Lipstick.  The brown "things" are from CASual Friday, the leaves from MFT and the sentiment from PB.  How's that for mixing up my stamp sets?

Homework #2

This is my second post today.  I did a little more work on the watercoloring with stamps portion of the online card class.

This one is a masked black and white image with watercolor background.  This is a new Penny Black stamp that came today.  The sentiment is from SSS.

If you've never done watercoloring, or taken an online class, I suggest you give it a try.  You learn a lot and it's so much fun.

WOYWW and Fusion #5

Here's my workdesk for WOYWW.  I played along for the first time last week and got a number of lovely comments.  It looks pretty clean and neat doesn't it. That's because I finished up the card on the left last night and am posting it below.

In the middle are the new stamps and die that arrived from My Craft Spot.  I'm hoping to use them soon but first I have to work on my hexagons. Two challenges this week have them as the theme and since I have the die and stamp from Simon Says Stamp, I want to use them.  You can see the set in the foreground but what you can't see is the die I cut (it's white on the white desk).  I am having so much trouble with the die.  It refuses to cut in the center.  I put it through my Cuttlebug numerous times with different shims and plates to no avail.  I ended up cutting a lot of them with my craft knife.

My card is for the Fusion challenge.

I was going to do a blue birdcage cut from one of my Cricut cartridges but I ran out of time.  In the past I have actually done the fusion portion but today my card is from the sketch.

I got the stamp of the month set from Simon Says Stamp because I thought it was a good deal and would help me build up my stamps. I used the two roses for my focal point, stamping them with Tattered Rose Distress Ink on pink paper and hand cut them.  For the leaf, I stamped on green with Shabby Shutters.  The printed paper was part of the set and so was the sentiment, also stamped in Tattered Rose.

LIM 117

I mentioned the other day that I ran across some digital images that I had printed out from pcCrafter.  This was how Provocraft began - selling digital images in three colorations.  You could get black and white, painted, or colored images.  The painted versions are beautiful and look a lot like the copic colored pictures that you see bloggers doing.  If I ever decide to get into markers and coloring, I can use the black and white images that I already have to do it.

Since they've expanded to the Cricut cutting machines and all it's accouterments, they no longer have this part of their company but I have numerous images on my computer.   I'm using that found one on  my card today for the Less is More challenge.

This is one of those simple sketches that you could use over and over again.

I immediately thought of Mother's Day when I saw these cute owls snuggling up together.  I put a brown layer behind the image, rounded the bottom corners and hand cut the banner.  The sentiment is from the Simon Says Stamp Mother's Day "Best Mom Ever" set that I embossed in white.  I got the stamps and papers and embellishments when I ordered their May kit.  Great deal!

I loved the comments I got yesterday from some of the WOYWWers.  (What's on your workdesk Wednesday)  I think this is going to be a fun blog to connect with.
