Addicted to Stamps and More #187

This week's challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More is 'Make Your Mark'.  That means use anything that makes a mark on your paper: pencils, stamps, watercolor, markers.  You get the picture.

I made my mark with Distress Inks on a Crazy Bird with Glossy Accent eyes.  This card is for my cousin who celebrates her 70th in April.  I tied on a tag with the 70? stamped with Milo's Letters by LF.  Inside it says "No one will know if you don't admit it."

Time Out #52 and Muse: Christmas Visions #37

The sun is shining, oh happy day!  If often sing this song when the weather breaks and it's beautiful out.  So why am I on the computer?  Because I have two cards to show you.

This one is for Time Out using my new SSS Roses for You and inspired by this card by Marjan for the 'CASE with your own twist' challenge.

I used a TH stencil with Peeled Paint DI on Linen cardstock.  I told you I'd use it, Anita ;).  I stamped the flowers and did a loose watercolor with Altenew and Distress inks.  The sentiment is from CF. The wonderful Kim of Cupcakes, Cards and Kim celebrated a 'big' birthday recently and  Kylie has a link up at her blog, Kylie's Addicted to Stamps for us to send our birthday wishes.  This card will be going there.

Here is my card for Muse: Christmas Visions

based on this card by Emily Leiphart.

I used my PTI jar stamps and dies, coloring the snowman's clothing with DI and adding some white enamel accents to cover the stamped snow dots.  I'm not sure that was the best thing to do but it looks good from a certain angle.

Retro Sketches #156

I haven't played at Retro Sketches in a while but when I saw this week's sketch an idea popped into my head immediately.  Here's the sketch.

See those circular lines?  That looks just like my PTI Scribbles die and that's where the whole card began.

My daughter-in-law turns 50 the end of this month and this was the perfect design for her card.  I used some leopard print DP for the background, splitting it and layering it on black cardstock.  I just happened to have some grungeboard letters and numbers so picked out the 50, inked it, embossed with Black Sparkle and popped it up.  You may have to zoom in to see the sparkle.  I cut a tag from My Craft Spot, stamped it with one of their stamps (actually parts of two stamps) and tied on a little embroidery floss.  I think she'll love this.

TIME OUT #14

I blew it!  I designed my card for TIME OUT around the sketch from CASE This Sketch and then totally forgot that element until the new CTS sketch came out. Shucks!  I might have done something totally different in that case since I'm not thrilled with the card, but I'm posting it anyway.

I don't know why but I immediately thought of my gauze paper by DCWV and then found a blackish brown paper that went with it for the card front.  Add a few tags and sentiments from My Craft Spot, tied and stapled on and it's done.  Not very dreamy or home sweet home oriented but an encouragement card.  I know a few people who could use one of those.

I'm hoping to get a lot of cards made today.  I'm so far behind on challenges I'd like to do, and have ideas for.  That's the important part, the ideas.

Happy 95th and CS #156

Yesterday was Mom's 95th birthday.  She has been wanting to go to Red Lobster for the past couple of months so we went there last night to celebrate.

She doesn't usually eat much but she did a good job on that lobster and Dad (97) ate like he hadn't seen food in a week.  With care givers generally fixing their meals, I guess they miss really good food.

Today's card is for CASE Study.

I liked the layered shape on the Case Study card.  I cut four layers from Elegant Edges using print paper from Crate Paper's Farmhouse pad.  I added twine and a tiny tag and sentiment from My Craft Spot.

Retro #79

Just a quick post as I'm a little under the weather and shouldn't even be sitting here, but the card is made and the deadline is today. It's for RetroSketches.

I recently bought a paper pack called Happy Campers by WeR Memory Keepers.  I thought these papers worked well with the sketch.  (One of these days I'm going to branch out and not make such a literal interpretation.)  I cut the leaves from Straight from the Nest and they look a lot like the leaves in the background paper. The tiny tag and stamp are from My Craft Spot.

Now that I look at my challenge list, I see that I was also going to submit this to Paper Players, and that's the reason I used these particular papers, but that deadline has passed.  Oh, well.  :(

Freshly Made #95

Hey all!  I hope your weekend is going great so far.  It looks like I may get a chance to get some crafting done today and I say "yay!" to that.

Yesterday I worked on a card for Freshly Made from this sketch.

I kept reading Darnell's blog about her NBUS (never before used schtuff - her word not mine) and decided it was time to break out my Wplus9 quilt die cut.  I don't usually buy things I'm not going to use right away but with anything having to do with quilts, I have to have it, just in case.  *_*

I used the pinwheel pattern die with paper from Crate Paper's On Trend pad.  Three different dies are included in the set and I thought this one worked best with the paper.  I gave it a green border to set it off, since quilts usually have borders, and used the same green as a shadow for my tag.  The tags and stamp are from My Craft Spot.  The burgundy piece is embossed with a flower folder that came with my Cuttlebug and all of it is mounted on kraft cardstock, with foam tape popping up the quilt.  One of my blogger friends once said that quilting with paper is much cheaper, and I agree, but the pieces are a LOT smaller.

ETA:  I just saw the challenge at CAS on Sunday and am linking this card up with them, too.  Their challenge is called Krafty Twinery, use kraft cardstock and twine, which I surely did.  How fortuitous!

Fusion #7

Another quick post, this one for Fusion. 

I love the rustic elements of  photo image and went with that for my card.

The card base is kraft cardstock and the polka dot, roughed around the edges,  came from SSS's May kit.  The flowers are cut from Lyrical Letters from dark brown with flocking on the buds.  I used a boucle' twine to tie on a tag from My Craft Spot's tiny tags and stamps.

Muse #15

So much for thinking outside the box.  Nothing came to me for this week's Muse challenge so I basically did what was in the inspiration photo.  Some days you have it and some days you don't. 

I embossed the background with numbers, used paper from PTI's Library Ledger, and cut a tag and stamped it with My Craft Spot die and stamp.

MCS 91 and CTO 104

I've been working on cards like crazy and though I should reserve some to post next week, I need to get them entered into some challenges.

This card is for the My Craft Spot challenge 91 - Glossy Accents and/or Embossing  and
Celebrate the Occasion 104, Happy Easter.

The basket and eggs were cut from Doodlecharms and the grass from Plantin Schoolbook.  I cut the basket from a brown Core'dinations cardstock with a pink back side and embossed it with the checkerboard folder, the closest thing I had that looked like basketweave.

When I sanded it down, the pink showed along the edges of the embossing making it look woven..  The eggs were cut from scraps and the tag from My Craft Spot's Tiny Tags die.  I hand wrote the sentiment in white gel pen.

I still have my homework for the Pattern Play class 5 to do.  I should have done it for a card I will post tomorrow but I got carried away with so many ideas that I didn't see the possibility for a challenge.
