Freshly Made Sketches #702

I was so tempted to do a Christmas card for Freshly Made Sketches but my Honey Bee Fall Bouquet was calling.

The pumpkin was cut in orange and shaded with orange and white inks.  The sunflower is part of the set but the leaf comes from HB's Fall Foliage, cut in tan and inked.  The background paper is from a TH pack and the sentiment is from C9's Birdhouse Blossoms.

Color Hues #93

There's nothing much else to do when it's raining at the lake except read a book and take time out to make a card.  This one is for Color Hues.

All the die cuts are from Honey Bee's Fall Bouquets.  The pumpkin was cut from orange cardstock and inked with Snapdragon in the ridges and white for a highlight.  The sunflowers were cut in yellow and inked with Chamomile while the centers were cut from dark brown for the bottom layer and kraft, inking the kraft with Mocha just like the leaves.  The centerpiece was added to a background embossed with Honey Bee's Burlap folder.  This sure brought some sunshine to a dreary day.

Just Us Girls #721 - Color Week

It's Color Week at Just Us Girls and Ina has a bright color way for us.

My first thought was Halloween. 😀  But then I remembered the pumpkin die from Honey Bee and that started the ball rolling.  It's basically an all Honey Bee card. 

Cut from orange cardstock, I used detail brushes to add more orange to the debossed ribs.   A slit was cut in the top so I could add my die cut flowers,  one from Spring Greenery and two from Autumn Bouquet, cut in white and colored with a variety of inks.  Arranging was the difficult part but once they were all taped inside the pumpkin, they were glued or pop dotted down onto the Burlap embossing folder.

Seize the Birthday #274, Triple B 11.23 and NBUS #56

I had been waiting for Honey Bee's Fall Bouquets to come back in stock and I finally got it.  I made a card that fits into Seize the Birthday and Triple B and since the dies are new it's going to NBUS too.

 

Everything was cut from  colored cardstock and the edges inked.  I had to go over the ribs on the pumpkin several times because the ink kept fading back.  The three stems in the back are from their Fall Foliage.  The background was embossed with SU's Subtle folder.   I can see making a lot more arrangements in that pumpkin.

Tag You're It! 99

I have the honor of being your host for this challenge at Tag You're It!  Here's is what I have chosen for your inspiration.

And here is what I made:

I combined a tag from SSS, the burlap background stamp from MFT, a sunflower from PB and a pumpkin from my NBUS set from HoneyBee, both colored with Zigs, and a sentiment from Jillian Vance.  Isn't it nice how all those companies play so well together.

Just Us Girls #459 - Photo Week

It's photo week at Just Us Girls and Maria has a colorful one for us.

What do you see that inspires you to make a card?  I first noticed the pumpkins - then the trees and this is how I combined them.

I recently got the floral hoop die from Concord and 9th and wanted to use it as the base of my wreath which I cut from cork.  The sprigs/branches are also from the set.  I made a smooshed  panel from Distress Inks to use for my MFT leaves and then inked up a SSS pumpkin.  The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted.

The Design Team and our guest Designer, Julie Beech, hope you find inspiration not only in the photo but in the wonderful cards they have posted on the blog.  If you join in the challenge, you have a chance to become a future guest designer.

Th Heart Desires #16 and The Cat's Pajamas #339

It sure doesn't seem like Fall with the record high temperatures we've had lately but Fall has descended on the cardmaking world big time.  Case in point - this mood board from The Heart Desires.

And my card inspired by the upper left photo.

A little plaid blanket, grapevine wreath and pumpkin decorate the kraft panel embossed with woodgrain.  The sentiment is embossed in copper.

The Cat's Pajamas is a new challenge for me and they want a Fall or Holiday cards so my card will pay a visit there.

Just Us Girls #366

The days are going by quickly and the end of October will soon be here.  It's no wonder that Chris picked this photo for the challenge at Just Us Girls this week.

Two weeks ago I was stumped about the pineapple challenge but managed to find a little one in a stamp set.  This time I was stumped by the black cat because I definitely do not have any cat stamps.  Cricut to the rescue.

I think I went back to my card making roots on this one.  Cricut cuts, lots of inking around the edges, layers, colored paper.  The cat is the only Cricut cut and since he was so flimsy (just look at those skinny legs) I decided to inlay the pumpkins so he could be glued down directly to the panel for stability. The pumpkins are die cuts from SSS,  the faces and web are from Winnie & Walter and the sentiment from MFT.  The cat had holes for eyes so I added some gold Enamel Accents and when it was dry I used a glaze pen for the pupils.  Scary enough for you? ;)

CAS Watercolor #1

There's a new challenge in town.  CAS Watercolor is a sister to challenge CAS Mix-up and the brain child of Bonnie and Loll.  I'm thinking this will be a very successful endeavor.  The theme for this first challenge is Autumn.

The stamp from Penny Black is watercolored with Distress Inks.

The Card Concept #43, AAA Cards #52 and Share Handmade Kindness

This card has been sitting on my desk for a week now so I'd better get it posted before time runs out at The Card Concept.

I was inspired by the white pumpkins so I put them on a Mustard Seed and Scattered Straw smooshed background.  To add a little hay, I cut the Chilsom Wreath from SSS out of Desert Storm and cut it into pieces.  The sentiment from PTI is black embossed on some Smoke paper that has been inked to resemble the galvanized pails the SSS Stitched Pumpkins sit in. Or it could be a ladder rung.  You choose. *wink*

I'm also going to send this as my second entry at AAA Cards where the theme is Thanks/Thanksgiving.

I also made a Thank You card for Jennifer McGuire's Share Handmade Kindness Campaign.  This week's challenge is to share handmade kindness with someone in the community.  I decided to make a card for the staff at the living center where my parents reside, thanking them for all the care they have given to Mom and Dad over the past year.

The bottom part of the panel is stamped with Michele's rose background from MFT on Desert Storm. I used a MFT die to partially cut the word and popped the panel up over a Chainlink embossed panel.  I cut another word out of coordinating striped paper to put on top and embossed a scrap of green with words from W & W.  The aides that work at the facility are now required to wear scrubs that are just about that green color.  I hope they get the reference.
