52 Christmas Card Throwdown 37.23

I have a card for the sketch challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.

The little deer are from Mama Elephant, colored with PolyChromos pencils.  A black glaze pen was added to their noses and eyes.  The sentiment is from MFT stamped in CP Spruce to match the border paper.

I'm trying to play catch up after being gone over a long weekend.  Crazy how much can pile up in such a short time.

Thanks for dropping by.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown - 18.23

Week 18 and another card for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.  It may be my last since we are leaving today for our summer home and I only take a few Christmas stamps with me.

The deer is from EbyE cut from brown and inked around the edges.  I added a bow die cut from PTI to dress him up a little.  The sentiment die is from Elizabeth Crafts and the DSP from Photoplay.

Thanks for dropping by. Have a great day!

Inspired By #195

I'm trying to not take photos too literal when I make a card for a challenge.  It's sometimes a stretch for me but the photo at Inspired By made the stretch necessary since I didn't have a lot of choices for stamps/dies.  Here's the photo.

Let's see if you can see how I was inspired.

I saw deer, snowflakes and the color green so they go together to make my card.  It started with a snowflake embossing folder (an older one so it's not 3D).  Using my Waffle Flower A2 dies, that panel was cut down and bordered with Pinefeather cardstock which was also used for the sentiment.  The reindeer is from Essentials by Ellen and was cut once from brown and twice from cardboard.  I decided to add a little snow to the letters for a little something extra using glue and Puff embossing powder.

What do you think?  It was fun to focus on the elements of the photo and not the picutre in its entirety.  I'm training myself to do this more often.  I hope you'll drop by the challenge to see what others were Inspired By.

Happy Little Stampers Christmas - Reindeer

Christmas is over and it's time to start those cards for next year.  Happy Little Stampers Christmas is here to inspire and encourage you.  As usual it's an 'Anything Goes' challenge with an optional twist and here it is.
I always challenge myself to do the twist so this is what I made.
I saw Dawn from WPlus9 make faux shiplap backgrounds and I had to try it. Since you can watch the video, I won't bore you with the details. The deer from EbyE is inlaid and surrounded by branches from Catherine Pooler and a sentiment from Concord and 9th.

We hope you'll get inspired by what you see on our blog and make a card for the gallery.

Happy Little Stampers Christmas - March

It's time for this month's Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge and the theme for March is:
I included all of Santa's reindeer on my card.
I stamped all the images from ME on my card front after computer generating the sentiment.  I used Cashmere from WPlus9 that I bought because I loved the sound of the name. It's a lovely color and I didn't want a plain white background for my PolyChromos coloring.  I'm still practicing and they look better to me IRL than on the screen.  I probably should have played with them more but I didn't want to go too dark.

You know those guys wouldn't let Rudolph play so I stamped him on the inside.

The winner of this challenge will receive a $20 coupon to spend at the HLS shop.

The reindeer are optional for this challenge but we sure would like to see a whole herd of them in the gallery.

Merry Monday #246

'Twas the night before Christmas. . .  That's the theme for cards at Merry Monday this week.  Now skip down to the part about eight tiny reindeer and you'll have my card.
Those ME reindeer are so cute peeking out at MFT's Santa embossed in white and colored with Zigs.  At the end, Santa doesn't say 'Merry Christmas'.  He says "Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night" so I had to use that sentiment from CB.

Thanks for taking the time to drop by.

Merry Monday #231

It's another Merry Monday Christmas Challenge and this time they want reindeer on your card.  I aim to please.
The only reindeer I have are these cuties from Mama Elephant.  I colored a couple of them with Zigs and let them play around the layered die cut word from PTI.  I thought this fun called for a wonky stitched panel from MFT.  As Darnell would say, QACAS (quick and clean and simple).

Glad you dropped by.

CASology #187

I've always wanted to try a 'spin' card and what better time to do one than when the cue word at CASology is "SPIN".
The Mama Elephant reindeer are perfect for this because they have a second image to put on the back.  I colored mine with Zigs, with a little red Stickles for his nose and black glaze pen for his eyes.  The sentiment from PB is curved a little to follow the circle opening.  I probably should have inked the background but didn't think of it until the card was all together and didn't want to ruin it.  It definitely is CAS this way. ;)

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope your weekend is going well.

Merry Monday #180, Inkspirational #96, SS Wednesday and HLS Anything Goes

Merry Monday and Inkspirational both have reindeer challenges this week.  I have those darling MFT reindeer but I wanted something a little more sophisticated and since I don't have any other reindeer stamps or dies, I got out my Cricut.  I think it's mad at me because neither my Design Studio or the Cricut Craft Room software would work.  It took me a minute to remember how to do everything manually but I got my deer.  lol  That just sounded like the hunters I've talked to.
He's cut from some DCWV glitter paper although you can't really see the glitter. There's actually a lot of glitter on this card.  Using SSS Frames I cut one of green glitter and one from gold.  The middle panel is embossed with Woods and an Avery Elle label holds the sentiment from HLS that was stamped with Delicata Gold and embossed with gold highlight ep.  I just wish you could see all the glitter and shine.  It looks wonderful IRL.

Simon Says Wednesday challenge is asking for a Christmas card so I'm sending him over there and since I used a stamp from Happy Little Stampers I'll send him to their ongoing "Anything Goes" challenge.

Thanks for dropping by.

Muse #140

I saw lots of pandas and penguins (none of which I have) in the Muse gallery but knew I wanted to use my ME Reindeer Games for my take on Ardyth's darling card.
I used the layout with the sentiment below and a pop of red.
I used my Zigs to color these cuties and for some reason they look better blended IRL.  A little Glossy Accents was added to Rudolph's nose and a bright red sentiment from SSS.

I have a question for all you Zig users.  Do you have trouble with your inks changing color?  I can brush them on and they look good but over time the color changes.  I tested the colors for the deer on Mixed Media paper and they are totally different than the same colors used here on Bristol board.

Thanks for dropping by today.
