Tic Tac Toe #238 and Inkspirational #304

I've been wanting to make a card with a Christmas swag on it and did one for two challenges: Tic Tac Toe (December holiday, winter foliage and green or red) and Inkspirational (add glitter).

Unfortunately I don't think there is enough variance in the greens to make the different branches stand out.  Most are from Honey Bee's Winter Foliage but the gray green cedar in the back is from Tim Holtz.  The gold glitter cardstock for The Greetery bow is from DCWV and the sentiment is from Pinkfresh Studio.  It's embossed in Sparkle powder although it doesn't show up in the photo.  I tried adding Rock Candy Glitter to some of the branches but it didn't show up so I went over it with Puff embossing powder to make it more like snow.  Still not happy with it but it is what it is.  Truth be told, this is my second try.  I feel there'll be a third or fourth until I get it right. 😉

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope your holiday preparations are going well.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown - 17.23

There's a sketch challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and I must admit it had me stumped for a while and I'm still not sure I love my card but I want to keep up with this weekly challenge as long as I can.

I turned the sketch 90 degrees to the right.  The Memorybox mistletoe makes up the triangle in the sketch, cut from green and inked to add dimension.  The berries are white glitter paper.  My one last scrap of the striped paper was cut in half to add the stripes and the sentiment is a die from Concord and 9th.  Do you think it resembles the sketch?

Thanks for dropping by.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown, Peace On Earth #33, Krafty Chicks#650 and NBUS #47

I'm still going strong with my weekly Christmas cards.  I started this one for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown but it also fits the moodboard at Peace on Earth and Christmas Week at Krafty Chicks.

All white cards are lovely but you do need something to add a little dimension and pizazz.  This is a NBUS poinsettia die from TH and all the petal pieces are one die.  Rather than cut another one from glitter paper, I heat embossed those overparts and centers with Glitter powder.  I love how it matches the paper I cut the pine branches from.  To add even more dimension, the panel was embossed with the Pine Needles folder.

Since this is a new die I'm sending my card to NBUS, where everyone can post their never before used stuff.

Thanks for dropping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #559

I'm getting a headstart on next year's Christmas cards with a few challenges from now through this Christmas.  Today my card is for Freshly Made Sketches.

I have so many Christmas stamps and dies that never got used this year.  I found this one from Penny Black while looking for something else and thought it would work for the sketch.  The wreath was colored with a combo of Distress regular and mica sprays.  Pink glitter cs was used for the bow and under the sentiment from Concord and 9th.  The die cut gives little spots for berries but I used holographic confetti from Trinity Stamps.

Thanks for dropping by.

Christmas Craft Creations - October 2022

I was asked to be a guest designer at Christmas Craft Creations after winning their Winter Activities challenge with this card.   This month the theme is white on white.

This is not always the easiest of themes but I knew right away I wanted to make a white poinsettia.

The die is from Altenew, cut in alternating layers of white and glitter cardstock.  For the sentiment I heat embossed a PB sentiment on a leaf cut from vellum and added a couple of others to balance it out.  The same glitter cardstock was used for a frame.

I hope you'll join me over at Christmas Craft Creations to see what the Design Team has created, get inspired and make a card for the gallery.  We'd love to see you there.

The Flower Challenge #72

Who doesn't like a little sparkle?  That's what The Flower Challenge would like to see on your cards this month.

I'm not really an embellishment girl so I added sparkle with glitter paper.

I made my flowers from Altenew's Craft-a-flower Cistus which is a layering die. I added them to a panel that was cut with Altnew's Dotted Swirl Debossing Coverplate and popped up with cardboard.  Here's a close up of the sparkle.

Not a very good picture but you get the idea.  It really does shine more IRL.

Donna Mikasa is our guest designer and you won't want to miss her beautiful card and those of the rest of the Design Team.  Head on over to The Flower Challenge and check them out.  I'm sure you'll be inspired to make a sparkle card of your own.

Let's Squash It! #3 and Inkspirational #228

I forgot I bought this wonderful snowflake embossing folder last year.  It was time to break it out and make a card with it.  It's just what I needed for Let's Squash It! and Inkspirational.

You all know how hard it is to get a decent photo with silver embossing and glitter but take my word for it this card has them both.  After embossing the white cs I cut three snowflakes from glitter paper and glued them over the center of the biggest ones.  The perfect silver embossed sentiment is from Penny Black.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you'll check out my other post today where I play cards with Michele.

CAS(E) This Sketch #400

Wow!  Number 400.  What a milestone for CAS(E) This Sketch.  Congratulations!  I used this week's sketch for another Christmas card.

The images are from Altenew's Holiday Bow and the gray glitter strips are from a paper pack by DCWV.  I used a darker gray from the same pack for the branches.  The sentiment is from HLS.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do.

CAS(E) This Sketch #340

I don't think the intent was to encourage Halloween cards when CAS(E) This Sketch posted their sketch but that's what it inspired me to do.
A little ink blending with DOX and some water spritzing made the background to place my PS web cut from glitter paper.  A silver glitter spider hangs from it to scare whoever walks by.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do.

Happy Little Stampers Christmas - July

Have you started your Christmas cards yet?  You know it's July already, right?  Well here's a chance to get started.  Happy Little Stampers Christmas has a new challenge starting today and it features.
Who can resist that option?  Certainly not I.
The SSS Lined Trees were first cut in silver foil and then in green glitter paper and inlaid into the embossed panel.  The silver heat embossed sentiment is from HLS.

Why not check out the Design Team's cards and get inspired to start your own Christmas stash, sparkle or not.

Inspired By #52

I started out with a different idea in my head for a card for Inspired By but ran across a giant snowflake die from Memory Box while getting out my intended die and that changed my mind.
I cut the snowflake from some ancient glitter paper and put it on cardstock embossed with a folder my sister gave me for Christmas.  I always falter in choosing sentiments but the soft color just said 'peace' to me and went with the stamp from Altenew.
Thanks for dropping by.  Happy New Year to you all!

Time Out #123 and Inkspirational #175

There are still some Christmas challenges out there and I have a card for two of them:  Time Out (Joyful) and Inkspirational (Anything Christmas).

I smooshed the background with Distress Ink and then spattered it with pearl paint.  The 'JOY' from MFT is cut from three layers of white and topped with glitter paper.  The sentiment from the same set is heat embossed in white.

Just Us Girls #464 - Photo Week

Ready for photo week at Just Us Girls?  Vicki has a bright colored one to inspire you.
I thought it looked like Christmas and that's the way I went with my card.
I cut the ornament from Elizabeth Crafts from silver mirror, red foil and white glitter paper and inserted the red and white into the silver outline.  The TH sentiment is also out of the red foil and the Poppystamps chain from silver.  It's so hard to photograph foil but here's another view.
Our guest designer Linda and the rest of the Design Team have cards inspired by the photo over on the JUGS blog.  Check them out and then enter your card in the gallery.  If you are chosen Chic of the Week you could be a future guest designer.

Less Is More #382

I bought a number of tag dies when I was on the "Tag, You're It!" Design Team so I had plenty to choose from to make a tag for Less Is More.

The tag is cut from one of my Brusho panels and I added the word die from PS in glitter paper and the ghost that I cut with my Cricut last Halloween.  I think those eyes from Doodlebug really make the card.

CAS Christmas Challenge

I loved the little snowman from Penny Black and even though he is a wood stamp I bought him anyway.  He's perfect for the CAS Christmas Challenge.
I paper pieced him with DSP and glitter paper, popped him up on a ragged cut panel and one that has snowflakes embossed on it.  The sentiment is also from PB, popped up over the one that got a little embossing powder on it and was difficult to read.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do.
