The Flower Challenge #103

Summer is upon us and for the June challenge at The Flower Challenge we want you to use embossing, either heat or dry.

I saw this fabulous card by Debby Hughes and tried to make one similar.  She used watercolor pencils and got a little more differentiation in color while mine is more subtle.

I started by smooshing a panel of watercolor paper with Speckled Egg and Lost Shadow Distress Ink, spraying until it was well blended.  I ran it through the Magnolia Dream embossing folder that was a gift with purchase from Altenew.  The flowers and leaves were watercolored with Kitsch Flamingo and Evergreen Bough DI.  When it was dry, the panel was cut down, splattered with Hero Arts Unicorn Spray and added to a gray card base.  That same gray was used for the BetterPress sentiment.

Which type of embossing will you choose?  The Design Team has wonderful cards to inspire your choice.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery.

The Flower Challenge #93 - Reminder

There's still time to play in this month's The Flower Challenge and our birthday theme.

I used the Altenew Craft-Your-Life Garden Rose.  This set includes stamps, dies, a stencil and embossing folder.  The outline roses were stamped and the stencil used for the background with the layers stamped on top. They were die cut and place on the embossed panel.  The foiled sentiment was inked with the same yellow.

We hope you'll make a birthday card with lots of flowers on it and enter our challenge.  The Design Team has more inspiration for you.  Be sure and check them out.

Just Us Girls #730 - Color Week

Carol Mc is the host of Color Week at Just Us Girls and she has made it easier (maybe) by choosing only two colors for you to work with.

These colors said tropical to me and that's the direction my card took.

The hibiscus from Altenew are stamped in the challenge colors of Altenew ink.  The back panel was cut with Spellbinders 4 Petal Frame, embossed with Tasteful Textiles, and stacked.  The sentiment is from Altenew's One-Go Birthday Greetings.

What do you think of when you see these colors?  The Design Team and our guest designer have some very colorful cards to inspire you.  I hope to see you in the gallery.

The Flower Challenge #91 - Reminder

There is still time for you to play along at The Flower Challenge where the prompt is

You can use any medium you like and it's a good time to get practice with some you've neglected of late.

At some point I stamped several of these Rhododendron from EbyE and one found its way to my desk.  I thought it would be good to color with my Zigs since it had been stamped on Bristol.  (Luckily I wrote that info on the back of the panel).  Once it was die cut, I auditioned a number of ways to display it.  It's bright color needed a white background which is cut from Spellbinders Four Petal Label Dies, but also something deep to add drama.  Pine Feather from PTI did the trick, embossed with Altenew's Crystal Wall.

We hope to see your colored flowers joining our challenge.

Peace on Earth #61 and NBUS #61

Hey there!  Thanks for dropping by.

This will be a quick post because the deadline for posting to Peace on Earth is nearing fast.  I was inspired by the photo with the poinsettia.

I love Honey Bee's Lovely Layers and this poinsettia is one I got at the end of the year.  It's cut from red, inked for shading with Fired Brick (doesn't show much) and edged with Foundry Wax.  I thought it would look nice on a background I made a while ago using Altenew's Luxurious Motifs inked with Honey Bee's gold.

Both the embossing folder and the poinsettia are new so I'm also sending my card to Darnell's NBUS gallery.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown - 9.24 and NBUS #60

Hey there!  Thanks for dropping by.

Another week and another card for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.  It's week 9 and a sketch.

An after Christmas sale brought the Honey Bee Layered Bells to my studio.  It is cut from gold mirror cardstock with a blue bow attached.  For the background I sliced a panel embossed with Luminous Motifs from Altenew, which allowed me to make two cards.  I also purchased the Jingle All the Way sentiments and accompanying dies.  Since these are new products, I'm sending my card to Darnell's NBUS challenge.

Do you have Never Before Used Stuff that needs some love?

Tic Tac Toe #215

I'm cutting it close sending my card to Tic Tac Toe.  It's been made but I've been busy enjoying the weather and forgot to post it.

Going diagonal left to right I used nature, encouragement and free.  I stenciled the Altenew Cotoneaster embossing folder and added a sentiment from their Heartfelt Sentiments, heat embossed and colored with the same ink as the leaves.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do.
