Color Hues #130

Today's card is for the Color Hues challenge of Fuchsia and Navy.  I didn't want to do my usual florals so it took a while to come up with something.

The Spellbinders Gorgeous You Perfume Bottle was part of a class I took a while ago but I can't remember what class or when it was.  I evidently didn't make a card with the die set because I searched my blog and couldn't find anything. The bottle was cut in C9 Dragon fruit and embossed with Altenew's Crystal Wall. Gina K's In the Navy was used for the sentiment frame and background that was embossed with SB Cross My Heart.  It was necessary to use double sided tape to keep the bottle stuck to the background with all that embossing.  A sentiment from the set was heat embossed in gold to go with the ribbon.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a bit of your day with me.

Just Us Girls #813 - Die Week

Sue is the host for Die Week at Just Us Girls and this time she has a specific topic.

She wants you to include either something green, something referring to luck or maybe a combination of both while using your dies.

I want to welcome Milla as our guest designer for the month of March.  Be sure to stop by her blog at Mustesormi to see her wonderful coloring.

I smooshed a panel with Rustic Wilderness, Mowed Lawn and Bundled Sage Distress Oxides and cut it with Penny Black's Classy Frames.  Their Ascending die was colored with Distress Spray in Rustic Wilderness and they were both splattered in gold paint from Altenew.  The frame was cut three more times, once in gold and layered around the panel.  The gold embossed sentiment is from Honey Bee's Gently Squeezed.

There are a lot of greens and die cuts over on the Just Us Girls blog post to inspire you.  We hope to see you in our gallery.

I'm also sending this to Color Hues for their green and gold challenge.

Christmas Kickstart #106

Here's this month's challenge at Christmas Kickstart.

Pink makes lovely Christmas cards and so I tried my hand at a couple

I saw a card my friend Marcia made a card using the Altenew Perfect Poinsettia embossing folder with patterned paper.  I found a local craft and paper shop near me and picked up a pad from Craft Consortium that was perfect.  The Hero Arts sentiment was cut from SB Treasured Antique Glitter cardstock.  This was my second make.  Here's the first.

There was a bit of a learning curve with the paper as it cracked.  Not wanting to waste the beautiful paper, I tried the Japanese art of Kintsugi. The cracked areas were rubbed with an embossing pen and gold powder added and heated.  The gold sentiment carries on the theme.  To stop the cracking, I misted both sides of the paper on the lighter pink card and it worked beautifully.  Since I have an entire pack of paper in various shades of pink to red to purple you will be seeing a few more of these cards.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a bit of your day with me.

Just Us Girls #807 - Stencil Week

I'm hosting the stencil challenge this week at Just Us Girls.

I saw Jennifer McGuire use a foil plate, die and stencil from Pinkfresh Studio and had to buy it.  I ended up making four different cards.

It's called Pretty Blossoms and has a die that cuts out the background.  The image was hot foiled in matte silver and colored with Altenew inks in Wisteria, Hydrangea, Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades. Once cut, the flowers were glued to matte silver cardstock and a Better Press sentiment was foiled to match.

This card was hot foiled in black and stenciled with Pastel Sunrise, Canyon Clay, Lime and Limeade ink from Altenew.  The background was left intact and another BetterPress sentiment was added.

Now for the cards that really made me buy the set.

The plate was hot foiled in gold and stenciled with Concord and 9th Pimento and Brickyard, and Altenew Just Green and Hunter Green.  The die cut out the background.  The card base was cut at an angle and the stenciled panel was cut to match with a little extra for gluing.  A thin gold strip covers where they meet.  This allowed me to get two cards from one panel.

The sentiments are both from PTI, some I haven't used in ages but they fit along the line perfectly.

This photo give you a better idea of the see-through bottom of the card front and the gold that was used for the strip.

I hope I have given you some ideas for using your stencils and that you make a card for our gallery.  The Design Team and our guest Laurel have more inspiration for you on the Just Us Girls blog.

Just Us Girls #802 - Mood Board Week

Carol Mc has a great mood board for us at Just Us Girls this week.

There are lots of images to inspire your card and if that's not enough, the Design Team and our guest Leslie have some wonderful cards to get your ideas flowing.  Here's mine.

I focused on the star with greens and the wood background.  The star is from PFS Nested Stars.  It is a hot foil plate with dies but I only used the dies, cutting it in C9 Nutmeg cardstock and layering with foam tape. The greens are SB Blue Spruce cut with TH Holiday Greens.  I wanted to add ornaments but didn't have any small enough so I cut circles from a textured gold cardstock.  The Joy die is also TH and the wood background is from a pack I love but don't have the name of.

I hope you have the time to make a card based on our mood board. We'd love to see you in our gallery.

Just Us Girls #785 - Stencil Week

I'm the host at Just Us Girls for Stencil Week where anything goes.

I'm expecting a large turnout for this challenge even if it is the middle of the summer.  I hope you can join the Design Team and our guest Donna Mikasa with your stenciled card.

My card is 5 by 7 to fit more of the Altenew gold hot foil Floral Wreath that was stenciled with Altenew Inks.  The sentiment is from Dare2BArtsy stamped in Emerald.

Freshly Made Sketches #695 and Christmas Kickstart #100

I said yesterday that I had another card for Freshly Made Sketches.  I made this card for Christmas Kickstart's Merry-go-Round challenge before seeing the sketch and it was a good fit.

The ornament is from Spellbinder's Christmas Wonder, the embossing folder is Encircle from Penny Black and the gold heat embossed sentiment from Pinkfresh Studio.  I can see making more of these with different colors and sentiments to add to my Christmas card stash.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a good weekend.

Freshly Made Sketches #690

Karren has a rather universal sketch for us at Freshly Made Sketches which means an easy one to use any of our stamps and dies to make a card.  I went with one of my newer sets.

It's Coastal Escape View from Spellbinders.  The sea was colored with what else but Salty Ocean Distress Ink that was spritzed and blotted.  The fish, seaweed and coral were colored with other various DIs.  The porthole and strip are gold foil and the background is embossed with SB's Corrugated and Castaway folders.  I don't have a sentiment with me that fits, nor do I have a printer to make my own so that will be added later.

Thanks for dropping by.  Enjoy your day!

Just Us Girls #778 - Die Week

Ina is the host for Die Week at Just Us Girls and she wants layers.

We welcome Joanne James as our guest designer for the month of June.  Be sure and check out Joanne's blog The Crafty Owl .

My card features the PFS Geo Tiles cut in gold and added over a Brusho panel from my Bits box.   The border is C9 Juniper cardstock and the HA sentiment is stamped in navy on a scrap of the panel.

The Design Team and Joanne are ready to inspire you to make a layered die cut card for this challenge.  I hope to see you in the gallery.

Freshly Made Sketches #685

There are so many ways you can use Linda's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and after a bit of thought about what a the main focus would be, this is what I came up with.

I was gifted some washi tape from PFS a while ago and the roll was still sitting in my drawer.  The largest image worked great for the center panel.  Gold foil embossed with the same Tasteful Textile folder as the C9 Briar Rose background and a simple foiled sentiment finished it off.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a great weekend.

Christmas Kickstart #96 - Not the Norm

What does Christmas Kickstart mean when they say "Not the Norm?"  It means they want cards that don't use the traditional red, green and gold.  I had just the thing.

Spellbinder's Delivering Joy Sleigh was cut from shades of brown with gold foil for the runners.  The background and packages are leftovers from a long ago paper pack and the bows are shimmer paper.  To let it stand out against the patterned paper, the sleigh is added to the inside cut of Penny Black's Classic Frames.  The little gold tag is the only sentiment needed.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown - 9.24 and NBUS #60

Hey there!  Thanks for dropping by.

Another week and another card for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.  It's week 9 and a sketch.

An after Christmas sale brought the Honey Bee Layered Bells to my studio.  It is cut from gold mirror cardstock with a blue bow attached.  For the background I sliced a panel embossed with Luminous Motifs from Altenew, which allowed me to make two cards.  I also purchased the Jingle All the Way sentiments and accompanying dies.  Since these are new products, I'm sending my card to Darnell's NBUS challenge.

Inkspirational #309

Hey there.  I'm glad you dropped by.

All my valentines were done and mailed when I saw the heart challenge at Inkspirational.  Now I have a start for next year.

The Greetery's heart wreath was cut from white and inked with Distress Oxides in Rustic Wilderness,  Bundled Sage and Broken China.  The love die from Neat and Tangled was cut from textured gold.  Once in place I thought it looked lopsided so added a SSS heart in the same gold.

Stay warm and keep crafting.

Inspired by Friends

Although this blog post is entitled Inspired by Friends, it could also be called Amazed by Friends.  That is often the case when I see the creations of the friends who have joined me today in a collaborative post.  It all started when Bonnie sent some PinkFresh Dahlia Washi die cuts to me, Michele and Marcia.  We were to each make a card and post it today.  I can't wait to see how everyone used these beautiful images.

You all know how difficult it is to take a photo with gold (or silver) foil so I took a number of them before I could get one that was decent.

The foil is cut with the Nesting Rectangle Frames from WaffleFlower, and layered two high in the center and four on the outside.  The outside frame was attached to pale pink cardstock and the inner one to white, after adhering the flowers, and then the two put together.  A foiled sentiment from Poppystamps finished it off.

Are you ready to see what my friends have done?  Click on their names and the link will take you to their blog post where you can oooh and aaah and be amazed like I'm sure I will be.  Thanks, Bonnie, for bringing us together for this day of fun and friendship and for inspiring me every day.
