As You See It #341

I don't think I've ever played in the As You See It challenge before but after seeing my friend Michele as the guest designer, I decided to play along.  The board below shows the five items you must include on your card.

For the pastel portion I stamped the cocktails from Newton's Nook in VersaFine gray , heat embossed them (another requirement), colored them with Zigs, and die cut them.  I heat embossed a celebration sentiment from the set, cut it with a PFS label, punched holes and attached with gray and white twine.  This all takes place on a panel cut with a die from MFT.

Here's to you for dropping by my blog.  I appreciate it and the comments.

The Flower Challenge #91 - Reminder

There is still time for you to play along at The Flower Challenge where the prompt is

You can use any medium you like and it's a good time to get practice with some you've neglected of late.

At some point I stamped several of these Rhododendron from EbyE and one found its way to my desk.  I thought it would be good to color with my Zigs since it had been stamped on Bristol.  (Luckily I wrote that info on the back of the panel).  Once it was die cut, I auditioned a number of ways to display it.  It's bright color needed a white background which is cut from Spellbinders Four Petal Label Dies, but also something deep to add drama.  Pine Feather from PTI did the trick, embossed with Altenew's Crystal Wall.

We hope to see your colored flowers joining our challenge.

Inkspirational #310

Hey there friends.  I'm so glad you dropped by.

Inkspirational has a lovely pastel mood board that inspired this card.

If you look at the mood board below you can see I took one photo literally and made a card with the Pinkfresh Studio set called Celebrate in Style.  Two cakes and the flowers are all one stamp and it comes with stencils to color them.  I made a gold plate for the cake to sit on and put it all on a Spellbinder's label die, layered for dimension.  The background was embossed with SSS's Blossom Field.  I left off a sentiment so I can use it when needed for a variety of occasions.

Have a great day!

Double D - Patterned Paper Take Two

Hey there!  I'm so glad  you dropped by.

In the very same paper pack I used for yesterday's card for Double D I found this large floral one.

I cut it with Spellbinder's Four Petal Label dies and layered it three times on my card base.  The flower is from SSS and the sentiment is from Altenew.  Because the flowers on the paper weren't pure white I went looking for paper closer to that color rather than the PTI that I usually use.  I found some from MFT that I got in a kit when I visited their store a number of years ago.   It sure looks more white in the photo and I didn't notice it when I was doing the editing.  Sometimes photography can be a bugaboo, especially on cloudy days.

The sun is shining today.  I better get busy and take photos of other finished cards while I have good light.

Double D - Patterned Paper

Hey there crafty friends.  Thanks for dropping by.

Who doesn't have a stash of patterned paper?  I got rid of my 12 by 12 a long time ago but I do have three drawers (boxes from Hobby Lobby) filled with 6 by 6 or larger pads.  When Double D asked for patterned paper on our cards I had to make a card or two.

I can always use more masculine cards and thought this paper from a Jen Hadfield pack would work well for one. I inadvertently bought two of them so using one up is a good idea.  The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted stamped on Spellbinder's Four Petal Label.  For some reason the paper has a yellow tint to it in the photo but it actually matches the background.

Have a great day!

Color Hues #68 and NBUS #52

I didn't realize what a striking combination olive and berry were until I pulled out some cardstock to make a card for Color Hues.  Love it!

Altenew Sulfur Cosmos cut from cardstock and inked with Rubelite for dimension although I think I have a tendency to not go dark enough to make a good contrast.   For the background I die cut the Ornate Nesting Dies from Altenew and ran it through with the Wicker Texture folder.  The sentiment is from their One-Go Birthday.

This is the inaugural debut of the embossing folder and Ornate Die so I'm sending my card to NBUS

Thanks for dropping by.

The Flower Challenge #54 - Reminder

You still have time to make a card for The Flower Challenge using shades of purple with flowers as the focal point.

There are so many purple flowers to choose from, although you can make any flower purple. ;)  Earlier I used an Anemone and today I have used a Larkspur from Altenew.

I stamped the layered flower in four different shades of purple from Altenew and the leaves from a 5th shade.  I cut and embossed a panel from MFT and then bordered it with purple before placing on my flowers.  The sentiment is from The Ton.

Please go check out the wonderful cards the Design Team have made and then make your own purple card.  We'd love to see yours in the gallery.

Just Us Girls #441 - Color Week

Lisa is our host for Color Week at Just Us Girls and she's chosen these colors.
I had another card in mind when I remembered a background I stamped some time ago that could be finished up to meet the color challenge.
The stamp is from Concord and 9th and although the stamping isn't the best I thought it looked like denim so I left it as is.  I added Altenew inks in two shades of gray and aqua to finish up the flowers and leaves.  The label die was stamped with a Hero Arts sentiment in the same HA Navy ink that I used on the background.

The Design Team and our lovely guest, Patti Kehl, have some wonderful cards to inspire you to join our challenge.  If you do, you could be chosen Chic of the Week and have a chance to be our guest in July.

CASology #294

Thank goodness for Evernote.  That's where I went when I needed to see what I had that would go with the cue word at CASology this week.
What popped up was a sentiment from CF.
After playing around for a while I ended up embossing it in Verdigris on a CPD label and then layered other size labels behind it. Lots of texture and dimension while keeping it CAS.

It's been crazy weather around here lately.  The ground gets covered with snow over night and by that evening it's gone.   That kept repeating for several days.  I was knitting with a group of ladies yesterday and when we looked out the window it was almost white out conditions.  Then it stopped and started again a few minutes later, repeating that over and over for an hour or more.  Today the sun is shining which is always a good mood booster.

Thanks for dropping by.  Enjoy your day no matter the weather.

Merry Monday #284

It's time for a red and white card at Merry Monday
I pulled out my CP peppermint striped background stamp and inked it up with Candied Apple DOX.  The label die, candy canes and sentiment are all from CP.  I added a little Glossy Accents to the canes.

I just counted and I have 47 Christmas cards already done.  Some were left from last year but most have been made for challenges this year.  There's no doubt I'll be ready when it comes time to mail them out.

It almost looked like Christmas here with snow covering the ground this morning. And it's snowing again.  Come on Spring!

Addicted to CAS #131

Jaydee is our host at Addicted to CAS and she has chosen this as our code word for this challenge.
As luck would have it (pardon the pun 😉) I had what I thought was a great stamp for the challenge.
The clover image, tag and sentiment are from PTI.  I stamped the clover on a label die from CF and colored it with PolyChromos pencils.  The label was popped up on fun foam and a second tag was cut from purple and the two tied together with twine.

The Design Team has some wonderful cards inspired by the code word.  Take a look at theirs and then make your own 'lucky/luck' card.  We'd love to see yours in the gallery.

Addicted to CAS #125

Addicted to CAS is celebrating its 5th Birthday with this challenge featuring the code word:
How sweet is Kylie to honor our winner with a $15 voucher to Happy Little Stampers.  That's in addition to the 15€ voucher from Create a Smile

For my card I used Candy Cane Lane from CP along with her label die that's popped up on fun foam.  I thought I'd use pink and chartreuse instead of the traditional red and green for a bit of fun.

The Design Team has some delightfully sweet treats for you to use as inspiration for your card.  You'll want to check them out and then make a clean and simple card for the challenge.

Just Us Girls #420 - Color Week

Angie is our host and picked the colors for Color Week at Just Us Girls.
I think color challenges are some of the more difficult ones for me but I happened to see this card from Lisa Elton which inspired my card.

I did a mix-up of stamp companies for this card using flowers from Altenew, the background leaves from Catherine Pooler, the bubble die from CASual Fridays and the sentiment from SSS.  Don't they play well together?

What elements and/or companies will you use for your JUGS entry this week?  Need inspiration?  The Design Team and our guest designer Trina Pham have cards waiting for you on the blog.  If you enter a card you may be chosen Chic of the Week with a chance to be a future guest designer.

Time Out #93

Time is running out and I almost forgot I wanted to enter the Time Out challenge where the theme is Breast Cancer Awareness.  They want a card about friendship and/or awareness with the optional twist of pink.
Since the challenge is sponsored by CAS-ual Fridays, I used their Tin Roof stamp for my background.  It's embossed in white and watercolored with Picked Raspberry.  The sentiment from A-Muse is stamped in Picked Raspberry DOX.

Thanks for dropping by.

CAS on Friday #117

New challenge for me - CAS on Friday.  They want us to use dies.

The sunflower is something I cut at Michele's a long time ago and pulled out to watercolor with DIs.  It's been sitting on my desk and I thought it would work perfectly for this challenge.  I cut a panel from CP, mounted it on foam on a Desert Storm card base, then attached the flower.  The sentiment is from TT.

Where did the week go?  Hopefully there's crafting time for you and me this weekend.

Addicted to Stamps and More #261

Here we go, people.  Your favorite Addicted to Stamps and More challenge. For your inspiration, not that you need any, I made this masculine card.
The background is marble from Waffle Flower.  I heat embossed the label in Platinum three times to get a smooth finish and then heat embossed the sentiment from HLS in black.  I placed the label on a couple of snippets from my stash.  You can see more details of this technique from Jennifer McGuire here.

Anything Goes leaves it wide open for you so the Design Team hopes to see your creations in the gallery.  And don't forget to go take a peek at theirs.

Curtain Call - Fluff

One last card before I'm off on vacation.  You'll see a number of scheduled posts while I'm gone and I will be taking some stamped images and my Zigs so I'll have some things to make when I get home.

This card is for Curtain Call.  I knew I had the right stamp for this and made it in a hurry amongst the packing.

I used Geo Builders from Catherine Pooler and the lightest of the three blue Altenew inks.  The label is from Avery Elle with a sentiment from PTI embossed in silver.  I never use brads any more but the label needed something and these were the exact color, despite what you see on screen, of the bottom ink.

Thanks for dropping by.  Keep on crafting and hopefully I'll be able to comment.  If not I'll see you when I get back.
