Freshly Made Sketchesd #748

Verena is hosting Freshly Made Sketches and her sketch made me think of my Houseplants die set from Altenew.

The polka dot paper scrap was the jumping off point and I made the pot in matching gray with pink flowers and added a pink strip accent.  The background is the Subtle folder from SU and the sentiment is from Altenew's One-Go Birthday.

Freshly Made Sketches #747

I was honored with a win last week at Freshly Made Sketches and therefore HAD to make a card for this week's challenge.

I'm sure it's not surprising that I used flowers, in this case poinsettias, for the circles on Kim's sketch.

Finding flowers small enough was the challenge but since I need more Christmas cards I pulled out the TH Vault Holiday Classic, cutting the poinsettias from white and inking with Festive Berries and Fired Brick Distress Inks, plus a little green and brown for aging.  I bought the paper pack from The Paper Studio because of its soft aged look.  It was cut with my new Diagonal Stitch Rectangles from PFS.  I used the smallest of the dies to cut the sentiment, also from PFS.

Freshly Made Sketches #746 and NBUS #88

Jen M had a different kind of sketch for us at Freshly Made Sketches and one I was eager to try, especially since I had what I thought was the perfect NBUS to use.

This die is called Confetti Pop and is from Spellbinders Just Add Cake Kit.  The card base was cut to 4.25 by 3.5 which gave the champagne plenty of room to spray, It was covered with a panel embossed with Altenew's Dotty Circles.  The sentiment is from the same card kit.

My card is also off to Darnell's NBUS where she's hosting a Mutual Appreciation Month with prizes to be had for those who share their cards.  Maybe I should send this card to her for all the time she spends encouraging us to use our NBUS and comment on others who do the same.

Freshly Made Sketches #745

I've always loved those birds from Unity that I see people use on cards so when they had a sale I couldn't resist.  I also couldn't resist the faces of the Windowsill Woodlands.  I thought one would make a great card for Jen T's Freshly Made Sketches.

I mean look at that face.  Adorable.  And the sentiment goes right along with it.  The raccoon was stamped on Bristol and colored with Zigs, what little coloring was needed, along with the background.  Some wood patterned paper that I have been  hoarding seemed to fit.

Freshly Made Sketches #742 and NBUS #87

Amy's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches gave me the chance to get out my Spellbinders Just Add Cake birthday kit using Light The Candles.

Everything was cut with scraps.  I used Ohuhu markers to color behind the frosting die to make multi-colored sprinkles.  The sentiment is from the kit and the background is SB Starshine.  I had so much fun decorating that I made a second card.

This one has blueberries with blueberry sprinkles and two candles.  The sentiment is from the kit and the background is Hero Arts Confetti Circles

This is my first time making these cupcakes and using Confetti Circles so off they go to Darnell's NBUS challenge.

Freshly Made Sketches #741

Not having a lot of supplies is really stretching my creativity and such was the case for Narelle's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  I must have gone through my stash three times trying out things and finally settled on this.

The flowers are from Penny Black's Love Blooms, stamped on watercolor paper and colored with Distress Inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed and Rustic Wilderness.  The frames are from their Frame It, watercolored with Scorched Timber.   The background is SU Timeworn Type and the sentiment is a BetterPress.

Freshly Made Sketches #740

My good friend Michele has a scene sketch over at Freshly Make Sketches so I made a scene - on my card. LOL

Before I could make a scene I had to decide what the focal point would be.  The Spellbinders Country Snowman caught my attention and that meant a snowy scene made with Gina K Masking Magic and Altenew inks.  I had planned to make a lot of Christmas cards while at the lake.  Would you believe I forgot to bring a single Christmas sentiment stamp?  I will have to add one to the card later.

Freshly Made Sketches #739

Flowers would have worked well with Karren's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches but instead of going with the expected, I went in a totally different direction with this fun card.

The dies are Birthday Brew from Spellbinders Just Add Cake kit.  I decided to go non-alcoholic and make root beer.  The sentiment is from the kit and the background is from a Honey Bee paper pack.

Freshly Made Sketches #738

Cecile usually has simple yet interesting sketches at Freshly Made Sketches but this week's took a while for me to wrap my head around.

I used Garden Party from Spellbinder's Just Add Cake kit. It comes with the shaker domes so I had to make a shaker card, cutting the large flower from yellow and using a variety of bits in it,   Distress Mustard Seed was spread down the center before adding the flowers.  I thought the stems could represent the lines in the sketch.  I hope the team thinks so too.  This will have to be hand delivered and I know just the person.

Freshly Made Sketches #737

Jen B has a basic sketch at Freshly Made Sketches which should be easy except when you have limited supplies.  It makes me wish I'd brought other stamps but also makes me think creatively and that's a good thing to keep this old brain working.

I started with the Double Frames from Penny Black, using the smaller one.  Next I got out the Spring Birds from Honey Bee.  I don't think I've made their version of a Robin before and I had to research because our Robins don't look like this.  It's actually a European Robin.  For more color, I inked the background with Tumbled Glass DI and added a branch from Honey Bee's Spring Greens.  The frame was originally cut in white but that looked washed out so I changed it to this light gold/tan color and popped it up.

Freshly Made Sketches #736

I really need more masculine cards so I went in that direction for my card at Freshly Made Sketches.

I started with Tie-Dye paper from Honey Bee and cut it with Hero Arts hexagons.  The background and Dark Teal cardstock are cut with Starshine from Spellbinders.  The sentiment is from Better Press.

Freshly Made Sketches #735

Kim's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches was a doozy but I pulled out an older stamp and die set to make a card.  The sketch is square but I don't usually do square cards and this set works in an A2 format.

PTI's Happy Harlequin stamp set and coverplate has been in my stash for fourteen years.  I've learned a thing or two since then to make the stamping easier.  First I embossed the coverplate onto white cardstock.  Then I cut a panel and used it as a template to align the stamps on the die cut pieces using shades of gray and brown from Altenew to make this a masculine card.  Once stamped, the harlequins were arranged and glued onto the embossed background.  The sentiment is from Spellbinder's Just Add Cake.  I had a few leftover pieces so plan to make another card like this.

Freshly Made Sketches #734 and NBUS #86

Jen M's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches encouraged me to make a card in a size I don't generally do.   To fit my image, I went with a 5" by 5 1/2"

That little monster is Chompster from Spellbinders, party of their Just Add Cake kit.  I ran the poor thing through a Bubbles embossing folder, added all his parts and rewarded him with the strawberry frosted cupcake.  The SP oval panel was embossed with Confetti Drop, also part of the kit, and it's all on a polka dot panel from my stash.

I used the same die to make a card for my great grandson's birthday.

Chompster is eating an ice cream cone from MFT.  I gave Noah coupons for the local ice cream shop so I thought that was appropriate.

This is his first outing so I'm letting him visit Darnell's NBUS challenge

Freshly Made Sketches #733

Jen T's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches gave me the perfect excuse to use some of the patterned paper that's taking up space in my craft room.

The Penny Black paper was the basis for the color scheme, adding it to a gray card base with a yellow rectangle.  Sunrise Stem from SSS was cut from white and colored with Distress Ink.  The sentiment is a BetterPress from Spellbinders.

Freshly Made Sketches #732

I've wanted some lighter alcohol markers so after seeing Gina K recommend Ohuhu markers and my friend Judy saying she has the pastel ones I couldn't resist.  I'm in the process of swatching them but decided to pick a few for the flowers on my card for Freshly Made Sketches

It's going to take some practice and watching a few videos but I'm ready for the challenge.  That may be my summer project.  The flowers are from Altenew's Adore You and the paper, which has the same lined vibe, is from Paper Rose.  The sentiment is from The Ton.

Freshly Made Sketches #731

Even though Donna's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches had color, I went with a black and white theme.

The little white panels are from a SU set that was gifted to me.  I brought out some older silhouettes to stamp on them - three from Technique Tuesday, two from Catherine Pooler and one from My Favorite Things.  The heat embossed sentiment is from The Ton.
