Freshly Made Sketches #734 and NBUS #86

Jen M's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches encouraged me to make a card in a size I don't generally do.   To fit my image, I went with a 5" by 5 1/2"

That little monster is Chompster from Spellbinders, party of their Just Add Cake kit.  I ran the poor thing through a Bubbles embossing folder, added all his parts and rewarded him with the strawberry frosted cupcake.  The SP oval panel was embossed with Confetti Drop, also part of the kit, and it's all on a polka dot panel from my stash.

I used the same die to make a card for my great grandson's birthday.

Chompster is eating an ice cream cone from MFT.  I gave Noah coupons for the local ice cream shop so I thought that was appropriate.

This is his first outing so I'm letting him visit Darnell's NBUS challenge

The Paper Players #783

I was honored with a win last week at The Paper Players and I have another CAS card for this week following  Stef's sketch.

The honey jar is part of the Get Well Soon set from PFS. All the images are stamped and cut out together so this was a leftover, stenciled with Altenew inks.  The panel was embossed with Honey Bee's Burlap folder and the patterned paper is from one of their freebies.  The sentiment is from MFT.

Freshly Made Sketches #733

Jen T's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches gave me the perfect excuse to use some of the patterned paper that's taking up space in my craft room.

The Penny Black paper was the basis for the color scheme, adding it to a gray card base with a yellow rectangle.  Sunrise Stem from SSS was cut from white and colored with Distress Ink.  The sentiment is a BetterPress from Spellbinders.

Inkspirational #365 and NBUS #85

There's a sketch challenge at Inkspirational and a new to me die seemed perfect for it.  What do you think?

I ordered the Waffle Flower Quilt Frames not realizing I got two little quilt square dies along with the frames.  I'm actually working on a fabric quilt right now so it wasn't a big jump to make one from paper.  All of the patterned papers were scraps from my stash.  The background is SB Tuscan embossed with a coverplate from WF that I thought looked like quilt stitching.  I don't often add embellishments to my cards but the sketch has some so I pulled out these ancient flower sequins from SSS and added them around the sentiment from The Ton.

It's the first use of this die so off my card goes to Darnell's NBUS

Freshly Made Sketches #732

I've wanted some lighter alcohol markers so after seeing Gina K recommend Ohuhu markers and my friend Judy saying she has the pastel ones I couldn't resist.  I'm in the process of swatching them but decided to pick a few for the flowers on my card for Freshly Made Sketches

It's going to take some practice and watching a few videos but I'm ready for the challenge.  That may be my summer project.  The flowers are from Altenew's Adore You and the paper, which has the same lined vibe, is from Paper Rose.  The sentiment is from The Ton.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a bit of your day with me.

Just Us Girls #819 - Mood Board Week

I'm the host for Mood Board Week at Just Us Girls and this is what I found to inspire you.

Here's a larger image so you can better see how many different things you have to choose from.

See that image in the middle?  That's the direction I took.

I used the same umbrella I used a few weeks ago from Honey Bee and filled it with the vines from Altenew's House Plants.  The branch is a die from MFT and the background is patterned paper from Altenew.  I left off a sentiment because I didn't know what to use or where to put it. 😁

I hope you'll join me and my team mates for this fun mood board challenge.

Just Us Girls #817 - Die Week

It's the beginning of April and Sue has a great challenge for us at Just Us Girls Die Week.

I couldn't resist using my lovely layers April Showers from Honey Bee.

The boots were already cut in the folder but I double heat embossed them for 'weatherproofing'. 😉The patterned paper is from PB and the flowers are cut from scraps.  I used my favorite new embossing folder Tiny Flora for the background and a sentiment from Honey Bee's Squeeze the Day.

Now it's your turn.  Get out those dies and make a card for the challenge.  Need inspiration?  The Design Team and our guest have plenty of it for you on the blog.

The Paper Players #778

It's a sketch at The Paper Players and Claire designed a great one.  I wanted to put a bird as my focal point and found one already colored in the package.

It's from Hummingbird Thanks from Pretty Pink Posh.  Next I went in search of patterned paper and found both pieces in a pack from Honey Bee called Team Tie-Dye.  The green was cut with a deckle edge from My Craft Spot (oob) and the label is from Pinkfresh Studio's Dotted Fancy Frames.  I used one of the dies from the set to partial die cut the vertical banner.   The Subtle embossing folder from SU and a sentiment from SSS finish it off.

Christmas Kickstart #108 - Out of the Woods

I had a little fun with my card for Christmas Kickstart.  The "Out of the Woods" prompt sent me looking for forest patterned paper.  I was going to use a different bear but settled on Spellbinders Festive Friends.  That features a Polar Bear but I did something different with him.

You'd usually find black bears in the forest so that's how I cut him.  Then I got silly and decided that the bear wouldn't want to be seen so I put him in a sweater that camouflaged him.  Camouflaged until he ran into a string of Christmas lights that is.  The sentiment is from an older Ellen Hutson set called Bear Wear that was heat embossed in clear to make it show up.

Freshly Made Sketches #726

I have another Spellbinder's sale item for my card for Freshly Made Sketches.  It seems I can't resist a sale but I end up with some really great products and as long as I use them I feel good about it.

I got the Push Pin Notes because I thought it would work well with "Just a Note" sentiments and then couldn't find a single one in my stash.  Well I did find one after the fact but it was too big anyway.  The patterned paper is ancient from PTI and I made the note to match the blue lines.  What better place to pin a note than a cork board so I pulled out some that I have had for quite a while and used it for the other half of the panel.  The sentiment is from Honey Bee.

The Paper Players #775

The Paper Players are looking for Mystical Creatures for their current challenge.  I don't have any dragons or unicorns but I do have gnomes so I went with that.

This card was created last Halloween but I never posted it.  I hope that's okay and that this cutie is accepted into the gallery.  The gnome is from Gina K and the witches hat from Sizzix fit him perfectly.  The background paper is from Doodlebug Designs, the oval is from Spellbinders and the  sentiment was computer generated.

Time Out #307

Time Out has a photo challenge featuring a bag made by former design team member Kim Heggins.  The winner will receive the bag as their prize.

The stripes and polka dots sent me searching for patterned paper in my extremely large stash.

What first jumped out at me was the striped panel that was a freebie from Honey Bee.  I didn't have any lavender dots so I made my own using C9 Lilac cardstock and the Dot Fade stencil from TH with Unicorn White ink.  Altenew's Garden Rose was cut from it and some of the petals popped up.  The sentiment is a hot foiled one from SB.

You will be amazed at how creative the Design Team is with this photo challenge. Go check them out and be inspired to make a card.

Just Us Girls #810 - Word Week

The word of the week is Valentine chosen by Carol, our host at Just Us Girls.

I needed some valentines for my youngest great grandsons and this was the perfect opportunity to get them made.

This little fellow is from Concord and 9th's Monster Love, cut in Gina K Key Lime. The patterned paper was a leftover piece in my stash and I paired it with some C9 Pebble cardstock embossed with the SB Cross My Heart folder. The heart was heat embossed with a sentiment from The Greetery (perfect size for small areas) and put on a paper pop up.

There is another monster in the set so they'll each get one.

He was cut from Sea Glass and colored with artist markers.  The patterned paper was an older piece from my stash and the heart is heat embossed with another sentiment from The Greetery's Love Sentiments Suite. It's on a paper pop up.

This is a good chance for you to get your Valentines made if you like to send them.  The Design Team and our guest Denise Morgans have some fabulous inspiration for you on the blog.  We hope to see you in the gallery.

Double D - Vintage/Shabby Chic

My card for Double D was inspired by my friend Bonnie and some cups she did last summer.  You can see them here.  I sat right down and made one and it has been waiting for me to put it on a card ever since.

The stamp is Hello Beautiful from Altenew, stamped on Bristol and colored with Zigs on a cup from Memory Box.  The paper from Penny Black was a perfect compliment to the flowers so I used two different ones from the pack, cutting the middle panel with a scalloped die from Frantic Stamper and then again in white for the lace.  For the MCS sentiment I used their tag die and made a tea bag, attaching it with a piece of green cord.  I probably should have inked around the edges or something to make it more shabby chic but I left well enough alone before I ruined it. 😁

Freshly Made Sketches #722

I don't know what made me pull out my Pins and Needles Jar dies from Spellbinders while looking for something for the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches but once I took a look at it, an idea came to mind.

Next I went looking for paper with stitches on it and found this one from an old, old paper pack from WeRMemory Keepers.  No stitches so I added them with Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangles.  The sentiment is from BetterPress.
