Just Us GIrls #742 - CASE the Designer Week

Pick a card.  Any card.  That's what you need to do this week as Just Us Girls has their CASE the Designer challenge hosted by Vicki.

For my card I pulled out an oldie but a goodie from Papertrey Ink.

The Brusho background was in my Bits Box.  I heat embossed the Meadow Greens flowers in white, cut down the panel on the sides and added a heat embossed sentiment from My Pink Stamper (oob).

This challenge gives you a lot of options for making a card for our gallery. I hope to see you there.

The Flower Challenge - Reminder

I'm here to remind you that there's still time to enter The Flower Challenge.
One of my older stamps, and one I still love, is from Papertrey Ink.
The ferns were lightly stamped in the background before white heat embossing the Queen Anne's lace on Dove Gray cs.  To match the sentiment strip to the leaves, I ran the ink pad over my paper, let it dry and embossed the PTI sentiment.

Why not give one of your older stamps some love and make a card for this month's challenge.  Remember that the focus has to be a flower that you've stamped or die cut and that you can only enter six other challenges.

Inkspirational #142

It's a good thing I checked the deadline this morning because it runs out today for the Inkspirational challenge and I worked on a card yesterday with one of my oldie but goodie stamps.
I combined new and old for this card using smooshed Distress Oxide Inks for the background before white heat embossing the Queen Anne's lace from PTI's Meadow Greens.  The sentiment is from Altenew.

If you are one of the many who live in the path of Hurricane Irma, I pray for your safety.  My brother and his wife live in St. Petersburg Florida but just happen to be vacationing in San Francisco.  They have friends flying out to join them tomorrow if they can get out.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do.

PTI Blog Hop

Just a quick post to make the deadline for the PTI Blog Hop featuring this inspiration photo:
With Meadow Greens being one of my first PTI stamps, I had to make a card using them.
I used Lovely Lady, Simply Chartreuse and Ripe Avocado inks and a sentiment from Wishes Come True.

CAS(E) This Sketch #137

The challenge:  CAS(E) This Sketch

The card:

I embossed some Fine Linen cardstock with the basketweave folder for my base. Neenah Solar White is cut by hand to fit the fern from PTI's Meadow Greens. I smooshed some ink on watercolor paper to make the fern and then die cut it, also cutting into the panel.  A tiny Snippet from PB is the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by.  I love it when you do.

MIM # 207

I'm baaack!  In the craftroom that is.  I haven't been away, just busy with my daughter here over her spring break.  We spent two days going through my parent's closets and cubbies, marveling over the things we found there and reminiscing, before taking two car loads to Goodwill.

The first inspiration I got when catching up online was for the double partial die cutting on Make it Monday.  Laura Bassen has a great video (her's are all great IMHO.  It's so much fun to listen to her excitement.)  I've tried the single partial before and had so much trouble I'm surprised I gave it a second change, but I did and it WORKED!!!

I chose not to use a word die for this technique because that's what I had a problem with before.  Instead I used the Queen Anne's lace from Meadow Greens.  The first time I actually cut the flower through but that's okay since I wanted to add a second one anyway.  I inked up the background with Tumbled Glass DI and stamped the sentiment from Penny Black inside the MFT circle.

I quickly went through my challenge list and had a few lightbulb moments so I'm going to get busy with a couple more cards.  I way behind on my commenting.  Over 100 emails, not to mention the blogger feed.  But I'm sure you'll understand if it takes a while to check out your beauties, if I get to them at all.  It's not that I don't appreciate you and your work.  It's just there are only so many hours in a day.

MUSE #76

After all this time, I may be getting the hang of these photo inspiration challenges.  So many times I try to replicate something so specifically that I tear my hair out trying to find the right stamp or paper or color.  I was thinking that way about Therese Calvird's card at MUSE this week.

I have a stamp that looks like Wisteria so I could have done that. But the more I thought about it the less I liked the idea.  Okay, so let me see.  Flowers, purple green.  And so this card was born, not without a few labor pains and some difficulty, I might add.

It's really a more reddish purple (Dusty Concord Distress Ink) IRL but this is the best my camera would do even after monkeying with it.  I heat embossed the Queen Anne's lace with white on watercolor paper and colored the background.  After letting it dry for a day, I stamped the stems and leaves with HA Field Greens.  I tried to emboss the sentiment directly onto the paper but it didn't come out so to save it, I embossed it on vellum and laid that across the corner.

Thanks for stopping by.  I love it when you visit.
