Just Us Girls #770 - Word Week

It's Word Week at Just Us Girls and our host Carol M has chosen

You never know where you'll find inspiration.  For my card today it came in the form of a thank you when I ordered a new case for my phone.

I loved the ink blended colors and of course the word was a prominent feature that popped out at me.  Here's my interpretation.

Pretty close, huh?  It all started with Distress Inks on Hammermill paper.  Once I was happy with it I trimmed it down with a SSS stitched rectangle.  The sentiment, both the die cut word and heat embossed happy birthday are from an old set from Catherine Pooler's Stamp of Approval which was actually a CAS-ual Friday design.  The flowers are anemones from WPlus9, another older stamp set.  They were heat embossed in white on watercolor scraps and colored with Distress Inks.

If you need more inspiration, the design team and our guest designer have it ready for you on the blog.  Be sure and check it out and then make a card.  We'd love to see you in the gallery.

As You See It #341

I don't think I've ever played in the As You See It challenge before but after seeing my friend Michele as the guest designer, I decided to play along.  The board below shows the five items you must include on your card.

For the pastel portion I stamped the cocktails from Newton's Nook in VersaFine gray , heat embossed them (another requirement), colored them with Zigs, and die cut them.  I heat embossed a celebration sentiment from the set, cut it with a PFS label, punched holes and attached with gray and white twine.  This all takes place on a panel cut with a die from MFT.

Here's to you for dropping by my blog.  I appreciate it and the comments.

Color Hues #102

I missed the deadline for the last Color Hues.  I'm not going to let that happen again.  Here's my card in navy and lime green.

The first thing I thought of was my Honey Bee dragonflies.  I stamped one on lime vellum, heat embossed it and cut it out along with another in Gina K's Key Lime cardstock.  I was trying to figure out what coverplate to use and found the navy one already cut but none of the holes were punched out.  I must have gotten lazy and just put it aside for another time.  This was the time.  After poking them out, I attached the panel to a green one.  It looked rather plain so I added Penny Black's Ascending die.  I couldn't see a good way to add a sentiment so it's going without.

I'm so glad you stopped by.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Just Us GIrls #754 - Mood Board Week

As it gets closer to Christmas, Carol Mc has chosen a great mood board to inspire your cards at Just Us Girls.

Here's a close-up view of a lot of things to choose from for your card.

I was inspired by the lantern on the lower left.

The lantern is from PTI and the main image was embossed in Weathered Gold and then the detail stamped in black and heat embossed in clear.  The greens are from a TH die that were cut from white and colored with artist markers so I could have red berries that were covered with Glossy Accents.  I also glossed the candle from the set.  The bow is also from PTI, colored with markers, and the background was cut first with The Greetery Crimped Frame and then embossed with the SU Timeworn Type.

What part of the mood board did the Design Team and our guest Jenn choose?  Take a look and get some inspiration of your own.  We'd love to see what you make.

Just Us GIrls #742 - CASE the Designer Week

Pick a card.  Any card.  That's what you need to do this week as Just Us Girls has their CASE the Designer challenge hosted by Vicki.

For my card I pulled out an oldie but a goodie from Papertrey Ink.

The Brusho background was in my Bits Box.  I heat embossed the Meadow Greens flowers in white, cut down the panel on the sides and added a heat embossed sentiment from My Pink Stamper (oob).

This challenge gives you a lot of options for making a card for our gallery. I hope to see you there.

Seize the Birthday #289

I make a LOT of birthday cards so I don't know why I don't make more cards for Seize the Birthday.  I remembered they had a critter challenge and I need a card for a youngster and this is the result.

The little hedgie is from Honey Bee's Heart Hugs, cut from Desert Storm and his spines added with Altenew artist markers.  I happened to have this piece of patterned paper mixed in with my colored cardstock panels and thought it looked celebratory. It's cut with MFT's Wonky Rectangles and mounted on a white card base.  The teal color from the paper was used to make his balloon and the strip that the Sunny Studio sentiment is embossed on.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do.

Double D - Polka Dots

As a lover of polka dots, I had to make a card for Double D.

I have this bright colored paper and didn't write down whose it was.  I think it was a gift with order.  I love the large polka dots and didn't want to cover them up so I heat embossed EbyE Mondo Sakura on vellum.  The sentiment is from Altenew stamped in purple.

Thanks for dropping by.  Stay safe and keep crafting.

Just Us Girls #714 - Mood Board Week

Ina has a very colorful mood board for the Just Us Girls challenge this week.

Here's a close-up if you want to see the details.

I was drawn to both the colors and the sea shells and made this.

The images are from Spellbinder's Seahorse Garden, stamped, clear heat embossed, and colored with Zigs and Distress Inks.  The back panel was inked with Salty Ocean (what else) and Tea Dye and sprayed with Diamond Dust Glimmer Mist. Some seaweed was stamped directly onto the background. Then it was just a matter of arranging all the shells and seahorse.  I didn't have a sentiment I thought would fit so I left one off.

How does this mood board inspire you?  Be sure to check out the Design Team and our guest Denise Morgans to see what they have done.

Word Power #1

You read that right, friends.  Diane and Darlene have started a new blog called Word Power - to encourage us to use our sentiments and word dies as the focus of our cards.  I love words and although I don't have a ton of large sentiment stamps I do have a few.

It all began with Chalkboard Sentiments from My Craft Spot.  (out of business)  I stamped, colored with artist markers and cut with HA rounded rectangles.  The colors came from an ancient pad of paper for both the background and all the balloons that were double heat embossed to give them shine.   This card is already off to my niece's daughter.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a great weekend!

Freshly Made Sketches #617

Sometimes I get excited about a card I've made and today's card for Freshly Made Sketches is one of them.

It's not the card itself that thrilled me but the fact that I could make mittens and a cap that actually look knitted.  I inked the Knit Pattern embossing folder with CP Sangria ink and ran it through my die cutting machine. The stamps from SSS were lined up in the center of the folder where the pattern curved, stamped several time so I could see the lines and die cut.  For the white pom, I stamped the top of the hat, embossed it in white, added Puff embossing powder in the middle using an embossing pen, and fussy cut it out.  The images are popped up on SSS stitched squares.  The scarf was stamped on watercolor paper, the sentiment embossed in white and then it was colored with CP  inks.

Thanks for dropping by. I love it when you do and even more when you leave a comment.

Freshly Made Sketches #614

I love it when things fall into place.  The minute I saw the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches I knew I had the perfect die for it.  Then in looking through my Bits box I found just the panel to inlay in the die.

The circle die, cut in silver, is from Waffle Flower and an extra part was cut to fill in the bottom corner.  The circles are from a Brusho background that had been in the box for quite a while.  A heat embossed sentiment from Hero Arts was all it took to make a masculine birthday card for my stash.

I couldn't let the leftovers go to waste so I made another card.

I put the circles to the bottom without the extra portion, inlaid the silver circles and added a stamped sentiment from PTI.  It's been gloomy here so no good light to let the silver shine.

Thanks for dropping by.

Tic Tac Toe #235

I'm finally able to do a little card making and i have a card for Tic Tac Toe - blue, snowman sparkle.

I used my favorite Snowy from Penny Black, coloring him with Zigs and paper piecing his scarf.  The  sparkle on his hat, the snow on the tree from Altenew and the ground is Snowflake Tinsel embossing powder from Ranger. I'm disappointed in how yellow it looks and that you can't really get the full sparkle effect in the photo.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Group of Seven Cardmakers - November 2023

This month the Group of Seven has us stenciling over heat embossing.

I need to find more stencils to do the technique with but for this card I used the poinsettia from Alex Syberia.  The heat embossed background is a stamp from SSS. It's difficult to see the inner leaves of the flower but I do love how it looks.  There are instructions and plenty of inspiration over on their blog.  Be sure to check them out and try this great technique.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown 33.23

I finally had a chance to make a card for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.  I did a good job keeping up with their challenges at the beginning of the year but not having a lot of Christmas things with me kind of slowed me down.

A new set from Spellbinders gave me this holly that I did in chartreuse and pink with a sentiment from Concord and 9th white heat embossed on aqua.  The background is an Altenew embossing folder called Crystal Wall.

Thanks for dropping by.

The Flower Challenge #81

I know you have a favorite flower and so there's no reason not to join us this month for The Flower Challenge.

Most of my friends know that the Daisy is my favorite.  Here is the card for today.  Another one will be posted as a reminder on the 15th.

The daisies are from TH Wildflowers and colored with Zigs.  They are in the  Greetery's Market Basket that has been heat embossed with Etched Platinum and lined with vellum.    The little sentiment is also The Greetery and the background embossing is Time Worn from SU.

The Design Team and our guest Christine L. have their favorite flowers to inspire you.  Won't you take a look and then join in the challenge?

Freshly Made Sketches #583

There is an interesting sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and while I had an immediate idea, following through with all the details was more difficult that I thought.  Maybe you should see the sketch first.

I have the Rustic Floral  Wreath from Pinkfresh Studio and stenciled with Altenew Inks.  It has the swag of flowers on both sides so I cut them apart and used one on my card along with a heat embossed sentiment from Sunny Studio.  The bow from PTI is cut from brown metallic paper.  That's what took so long - trying to figure out what color the bow should be.  I inked it with the same colors as the flowers and it turned out so different.  Nothing else I had matched but when I saw this scrap of brown I knew it was what I had been looking for.
