Just Us Girls #834 - CASE a Designer

There are five Thursdays in July so that means this week's Just Us Girls challenge is CASE a Designer hosted by Carol Mc.

All you have to do is choose one of the designer's cards and create one using their idea but adding your own twist.  Please tell us whose card inspired you in case it's not obvious.

My card started with watercolor paper, Distress Inks and an image from Penny Black's Garden Trio.  The image was colored with Worn Lipstick, Evergreen Bough and Forest Moss, with a light wash of Evergreen Bough on the panel that is inset into Curvature Frame, also from PB.  The sentiment is from their Sprinkles and Smiles

Now it's your turn.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery.

Just Us GIrls #821 - CASE a Designer Week

It's the fifth Thursday in April and that means you get to CASE one of the Just Us Girls Design Team cards.

I have a soft spot for wildflowers and bought the Layered Wildflowers from Spellbinders a while ago.  I made them right away and then they hid out in the folder.  I thought it was time to bring them out for you to see.

It took a while to figure out how to arrange them on my card until I remembered the Tuck It I bought from PTI a long time ago and never used.  I first cut that from the panel, stamped the sentiment from My Sentiments Exactly and then embossed with the TimeWorn Type folder from SU.

It's always fun to see whose card inspires you to join the gallery.  I hope to see you there.

Just Us GIrls #808 - CASE a Designer

Five Thursdays in January means we have a CASE the Designer challenge at Just Us Girls, hosted by Ina.

A fun new product from Spellbinders was calling my name.

How about a Cowboy snowman?  I think I was drawn to the bird feeder and bunny but the snow wrangler is cute too.  The background was made by inking the Softly Falling embossing folder from SU with SSS Surf Blue.  Everything was cut from scraps, using some Buffalo plaid for his scarf and vellum for the feeder.  SSS Stitched Slopes gave him a place to rest.

All you have to do is pick a card from any of the Just Us Girls designers and CASE it, giving it your own twist.  Please let us know whose card you chose if it's not obvious and have fun.

Just Us GIrls #777 - CASE a Designer

This is the challenge at Just Us Girls where the designers get a chance to do whatever they want and you get a chance to CASE their card.

This is actually a CASE of a card I saw on Pinterest by Jenn.  While she ink blended with Altenew inks, I couldn't get a look I liked so I chose to use watercolor paper and Distress Inks for my flowers from Altenew's Incredible.  I added Dried Marigold, Worn Lipstick and Peacock Feathers randomly and then spritzed the heck out of the image to get everything to flow.  Altenew's Always Sunshine embossing folder adds background leaves and the sentiment is from their One-Go Birthday.

All you need to do is pick a card, any card, and use your magic to make something of your own.  Please be sure to tell us whose card you chose and how it inspired you.  Vicki is our host this challenge.

Just Us Girls #751 - CASE the Designer

Five Thursdays in October brings us to another CASE the Designer challenge at Just Us Girls.

There is a wide variety of cards for you to choose from among the Design Team makes.  Here's mine.

The Tim Holtz Skeleton Leaves were cut in white and colored in a variety of Distress Inks to give an Autumn vibe.  The background is PTI Fine Linen embossed with the Subtle folder and an Altenew label cut in rust was stamped with a Jillian Vance sentiment.

We hope to see your card in our gallery.

Just Us GIrls #742 - CASE the Designer Week

Pick a card.  Any card.  That's what you need to do this week as Just Us Girls has their CASE the Designer challenge hosted by Vicki.

For my card I pulled out an oldie but a goodie from Papertrey Ink.

The Brusho background was in my Bits Box.  I heat embossed the Meadow Greens flowers in white, cut down the panel on the sides and added a heat embossed sentiment from My Pink Stamper (oob).

This challenge gives you a lot of options for making a card for our gallery. I hope to see you there.

Just Us Girls #699 - CASE a Designer

It's the fifth Saturday of September and that means it's our CASE the Designer challenge at Just Us Girls hosted by Vicki.  This means you are to check out the cards made by our Design Team and CASE one of them.

I saw this video by Jo Simons and wanted to try the technique.  So in this case you are CASEing a CASE although I used a different embossing folder than Jo did.  I started by inking a card panel randomly with Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers and Fossilized Amber.   The Pressed Flowers embossing folder from Altenew was inked on the debossed side with Altenew Graphite, smoothing it out with a brayer before adding the inked panel and sending through my Big Shot.  The dark of the background really lets the other colors shine.  I hope you'll try this technique and enter your card in the challenge.

If this doesn't appeal to you, there are nine other designers with cards for you to CASE. Surely one will inspire you.

ETA: Since this is a similar technique to what the Group of Seven Cardmakers did this month, both Bonnie and Loll urged me to send my card to their gallery.

Just Us Girls #690 - CASE the Designer

Here's your chance to be inspired by one of the Just Us Girls Design Team members.  It's our CASE the Designer Week hosted by Carol Mc.

I think you could have a lot of fun with mine.

The stamp is Honey Bee's Birds and Bees colored with Zigs and artist markers.  The sentiment is from Reverse Confetti (oob).

Not your style?  The Design Team has a variety of cards for you to choose from to CASE.

I'd like to thank Kristin Sluhan for her wonderful creativity as our guest designer this month. We hope to see you back in the gallery, Kristin.

And we hope to see you too.

Just Us Girls #677 - Wild Card Week

It's the fifth Saturday so according to custom it's Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls.  Our host Vicki has chosen "CASE a Design Team Member."

That means you should choose a card from any of the designers on the blog and make a card based on their design.  Here is my card should you choose to CASE it.

The black-eyed Susans from SSS are stamped on Bristol and colored with Zigs.  The panel was cut with The Greetery's Crimped Frames, splattered with Wild Honey DI and layered on yellow cs. The heat embossed sentiment is from The Ton.

I have to say goodbye to Joanne James who has been an incredible guest designer this month.  It was so great having you with us, Joanne.

I hope you will be inspired by the Design Team to make a card for the challenge.  We'd love to see you there.

Time Out #231

Welcome to Time Out. This is photo inspiration week and we challenge you to CASE the Designer.

And the designer is none other than the fabulous Gina K.  What about her card inspires you?  I went quite literal.

The stack of presents (and I say 'stack' because it's from Concord and 9th's Birthday Stacks) was heat embossed in white and then colored with Distress Inks.  And what is a Gina K card without a black frame?

Gina is offering a $25 store credit to the winner of the challenge so you'd better get busy and make a card based on her design.  We can't wait to see how you are inspired.

Just Us Girls #643 - Wild Card Week

There's an extra Saturday in July and that means Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls. (FYI: It's also my birthday.)  Ina is our host and she has chosen an interesting challenge for us.

You can pick any designer and CASE one of their cards.  For mine, I chose a card I loved from Therese Calvird.

I happened to have that Hydrangea stamp from EH and used my Zigs like Therese did to create this.

I gold heat embossed two images plus extra blossoms and leaves.  I popped one flower head up over the other on darker gray cardstock because that was all I had with me.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

I want to thank Fran Wing for being our July guest.  She and the rest of the team have some wonderfully CASEd designs for you over on the blog.  Enter a card and you may be a future guest designer.
