The Flower Challenge #70

Summertime and the livin' is easy.  And so is this next challenge at The Flower Challenge.  At least easy for some.  We're looking for your Clean and Simple cards - featuring flowers of course.  

I pulled out some TH Mica Spray and Honey Bee's Lovely Layered Wildflowers for my card.

I sprayed a panel for my border, cut the Bellflower blossoms from the middle, then cut it and the main panel with the Honey Bee Deckled Edge die. I used a scrap of smooshed cardstock for the stem and layered everything up for dimension. The last step was adding the Hero Arts sentiment.

Just Us Girls #431 - Trend Week

Carol is our host for Trend Week at Just Us Girls.  This is what she chose.

I wasn't sure what I was going to do because I don't have any stamps that are mystical or magical.  I finally just went with the word 'magic'.

This is the first time using the 'believe' die from SSS (another of those 'have to have it' products).  The shadow portion is red foil and the top is silver glitter paper.  I used the same paper behind the wonderful die cut border that is cut from metallic paper.  This might be a better view.

We hope you'll pull out your magical or mystical stamps and make a card for the gallery.  If you are chosen Chic of the Week you will be eligible to be our guest designer in May.

Addicted to Stamps and More #249

It's time to see your clean and simple (CAS) cards at Addicted to Stamps and More.  Here's mine.

I used my Brushos on watercolor paper, selecting where the colors would go according to my PB iris die.  I embossed the die into the cs and then offset the iris.  The border is a MCS die lined with purple glimmer paper and the sentiment is from CP's SOA.

Card Concept #62

This is a quick post before the day gets busy.  I loved the photo at The Card Concept and had just the right ingredients for a clean and layered card.

The sunflowers from PB are watercolored with Zigs on a panel cut with my NBUS SSS border dies.  I cut a second panel in red and layered it all over a background stencil by W & W.  The sentiment is from HLS.

The Card Concept #53

So many of us hoard our patterned paper but I thought the challenge at The Card Concept was perfect for using some. of mine

My oval dies from PTI and a lacy one from MCS are done in teal to (sort of) match the flowers.  They really do look match-y IRL  The PS sentiment takes center stage.  I think I'm about done with Thank You cards for a while.

My colors are a little off from the photo but are still in the same family.

I'm off to play cards with Michele Ferguson tomorrow.  If we actually finish a card, with all the sharing and chatting and eating and laughing, you may see it in a post this weekend.

Muse: Christmas Visions #35

Chriss has a beautiful CAS card for us over at Muse: Christmas Visions.

I was inspired by the holly and the sentiment although my holly is larger and the sentiment smaller..

I used a Tim Holtz stencil and masked off the berries to save them from being green and tried to keep away from the stems as much as possible. Well guess what?  I didn't think about the space above the stencil (it's narrow) and when I pulled it up there was ink where I didn't want it.  A MFT border die to the rescue and I like it even better than I would have as a one layer card.

Now I have a question for you.  Or rather two questions.  First, how do you get your gold embossing to show up as gold instead of black in a photo? This one is actually Liquid Platinum but it still show up as black.  Which brings me to my second question.  What is a good gold embossing powder? I have some that doesn't melt well and even after letting my gun heat up it darkens the paper before it melts to a rather knobby surface.

Addicted to Stamps and More #153

It's Holiday Week at Addicted to Stamps and More.

I decided to do a Halloween card using my Winnie and Walter stamps that I bought after Halloween last year so they've never seen ink.

The smaller center panel is die cut on one side to let the black card base show. I thought it followed the shape of the stamped web.  A scrap of Halloween paper runs along the other side of the popped up panel.

Online Card Class and Inkspirational #74

I'm taking the Online Card Class - Clean and Simple 4, Techniques Made Simple.  The class started on Monday but it was Wednesday before I could watch the videos.  And another day before I could start using some of those techniques.  I have a card to post in the gallery for day 2.
