Just Us Girls #826 - Die Week

Carol is the host for Die Week at Just Us Girls and she would like to see a butterfly die used on our cards.

I'd like to welcome Kellianne from In My Stamp Room as our guest designer this month.  She has some softly colored and beautifully designed  cards on her blog that you'll want to take a peek at.

As for me, my card is fairly clean and simple.

I've had this Memory Box butterfly for quite a while.  One cuts the detail that's done in Graphic foil from C9 and the other the background that is colored with Mica Sprays in Snowflurries and Winterfrost. The same colors are on the border cut with HA Rounded Rectangles. C9's Swirls Die adds a little flight movement to the main panel.  The sentiment is from The Ton.

Now it's your turn.  For inspiration, please check out what the Design Team and our guest Kellianne have made.  They're sure to give you ideas.

Inkspirational #358

I have another winter birthday card.  This one is for Inkspirational and their Shine/Shiny challenge.  It's my second post today since the challenge will be closing soon.

The Snow Flurries Distress Mica Spray background was in my Bits Box.  Sorry the shine doesn't show in the photograph.  Hopefully you can see the shine of Altenew's Dazzling Diamonds cardstock that was used to cut their Layered Snowflakes.  More spray was used on a scrap to cut the sentiment from Altenew's Versatile Greetings, using the Dazzling Diamonds for the shadow.   In real life this has a ton of shine.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a little bit of your day with me.

Color Hues #100

It's blue and purple at the month long challenge at Color Hues.  I had an idea right away and have had the cards made for a while but the extra time had me dragging my feet to post.  I'm finally getting it done.

I wanted to use the MFT bear from one set and the ice floes and sign from another.  They are stamped in gray and colored with Altenew artist markers.  I started with watercolor paper for my background and was not happy with how the sky turned out so I added some regular and Mica Distress sprays.  Much better.  A torn piece of cardstock made my frozen tundra. While I had everything out I made a second one.

This time I went directly to the sprays.  The outlines are stamped in black and the scarf is a lighter shade of the same colors.  The sentiments are from PTI.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope your holiday plans are going well.

Christmas Kickstart #92

Today's card is for Christmas Kickstart - Three Wise Men.  I only have one wise men stamp and hadn't brought it out this year.

Since it's a silhouette, the question was "what to do for a background?"  I usually ink blend but this time went with Distress (Villainous Potion) and Mica Sprays (Hocus Pocus and Winter Frost).  I dabbed after spraying to get a softer look.  I had to stamp the Woodware stamp three or four times to get a good black and then clear heat embossed.  The sentiment is from MCS (oob) and the star is from a PB stamp that I did a little surgery on.

I'm so glad you dropped by.  Happy Thanksgiving to all my US followers.

Just Us Girls #749 - Mood Board Week

Vicki is the host for Mood Board Week at Just Us Girls and she has chosen a very fun and appropriate board to inspire us.

I made a card last Halloween that I never posted so I CASEd myself with this fun card.

The background is Mica Spray - believe me there's plenty of shine - and the letters are from PFS.  I added some eyes from Doodlebug Designs just for the creepiness of it.

Which one of those photos will you base your card on?  Which one did the Design Team members and our guest Kerry choose?  It should be a fun gallery.  I hope you play along.

Just Us Girls #748 - Word Week

Stephanie is our host for Word Week at Just Us Girls and she has chosen

This should be a colorful gallery considering that the leaves are beginning to turn in the northern US.

I must confess that I made this card back in early May before coming to the lake and didn't write down the dies I used.  I went back through a lot of my blog posts and it seems that I may not have used this die before.  Asking Google to identify it didn't help so I'm thinking they're no longer available.  The outlines are cut from texture gold cardstock and layered over pieces covered with Mica Sprays.  The rust background is embossed with the Tasteful Textiles folder from SU.

The Design Team and our guest Kerry have some colorful cards for you to peruse.  Hopefully they will inspired you to make a card for the gallery.

Time Out #269 - Inspired By Words

It's August already and Time Out has an appropriate Inspired by Words challenge.

I went an unexpected way with my card for this challenge.

One of the things I love about summer is strawberry shortcake.  Not that you can't get strawberries year round but they seem better in the summer somehow, especially when they are locally grown.  The berries are from Honey Bee and are growing in a barrel from TH that was covered with Mica Spray.  The background is a PFS coverplate that was foiled with pewter.  Yes it is true you can foil with a coverplate.

This challenge is sponsored by Varada Sharma who is awarding our winner a $25 store credit.

There is plenty of inspiration from the Design Team and our guests so be sure to check out their cards on the blog.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown 2.24

It's week two at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and I have a card for their color challenge - red, orange and yellow.

The Christmas tree bulbs were cut from white and colored with Mica sprays.  I couldn't let the overspray go to waste so I sopped it up with a piece of mixed media paper and used it for a border.  The sentiment from Neat and Tangled was stamped on a white panel which was then embossed with the Pine Needles folder.  Silver cardstock was used for the bulb tops and wire.

If you're looking for a way to keep up with your Christmas cards, I'd suggest checking out this challenge. They have a monthly rotation of sketch, color, theme/recipe and stash/technique.

Thanks for dropping by.

Just Us Girls #709 - Word Week

It's Word Week at Just Us Girls and our host Sue has chosen this;

We all could use a little sparkle in our lives and I made mine in the form of a birthday card.

The background was in my B&P box and I added some mica sprays to it for sparkle - then turned it into an edge to edge shaker with some random sequins.  The Penny Black sentiment was cut from very old metallic looking  paper from my stash.

Now it's your turn.  How does the word "Sparkle" speak to you?  Head to the challenge blog to see what our guest Stef and the design team have made for your inspiration.

ETA: This card also works for the challenge at Double D so I'm sending it there.  They are celebrating their eighth birthday.  Congratulations, Diane and Darlene!

The Flower Challenge #87

It's time for a new challenge at The Flower Challenge and we'd like to see gold on your card along with your flowers.

I got a new hot foil plate and couldn't wait to use it for this challenge.

The plate is Pine Sprays from Spellbinders and I thought it would make a great background for the Waffle Flower poinsettias.  I cut the flowers from a panel spritzed with Peppermint Stick Mica Spray and used a scrap for the sentiment from CPD.  I added a little more gold by using embellishments from Pretty Pink Posh for the centers.   It's difficult to get a good photograph of the shimmer of the gold and mica spray.   At least you can see it a little better here.

Where will you add gold to your card?  The Design Team would love to see one from you in the gallery.

Color Hues #75

I have a second card for Color Hues.

I actually made this background with Mica sprays first but thought it was too dark for the challenge colors.  After seeing other entries I decided to send it anyway.  The wreath and bow die is from Penny Black cut from silver and purple foil.  Sequins were added as ornaments.

Thanks for dropping by.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown 41.23

It's the 41st week of challenges at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.  I've played in a lot of them and have another for this week's sketch challlenge.

The Mica sprayed Waffle Flower poinsettia was on my desk left over from another project.  I added a plaid strip and gold heat embossed sentiment from Penny Black.  QACAS.

Thanks for dropping by.

Time Out #250

At Time Out we are to be inspired by words.

"When we focus on our gratitude, the tide of disappointment goes out and the tide of love rushes in."  Kristin Armstrong.

I  took the words gratitude and love and meshed them into a card.

I first went looking for a sentiment and when I found this one from Penny Black I knew it was perfect.  The Brusho panel was in my Bits box and I used that for the background for the heart from The Greetery. I wish you could see the shine of the Mica Spray that colored it.

The sponsor for this challenge is Poppy Stamps who are awarding the winner a $20 store credit.  I hope you'll stop by to see what the Design Team has made and be inspired by the words and their cards to make one of your own to enter in our gallery.

Just Us Girls #702 - Photo Week

It's time for Photo Week at Just Us Girls and Ina has this lovely one for us.

I love the changing of the leaves in the Fall.  And I love putting colorful ones on my cards.

I started by coloring a panel with Mica Sprays.  When dry, I cut leaves from Lawn Fawn.  I have used them many times so I tried to find a new way to arrange them.  I found this card by Linda Walmsley on Pinterest and CASEd it.  The sentiment is from Altenew.

We'd love to see your cards inspired by the photo, the design team and our guest designer Bonnie Klass. If you win the challenge you could be a future guest designer.

Color Hues #73 and Color Throwdown #763

I love it when cards fit more than one challenge without having to do some searching.  Two challenges that I regularly play in have almost the same color challenge.  I orginally made my card for Color Hues - coral and blue - but saw today (time is running out to enter) that Color Throwdown has coral, light blue and navy.  I hope my colors are close enough.

It all started with Mica Spray for the background to make my ocean, then the panel was cut with Honey Bee's Deckle Edge Rectangle.  The seahorse and seaweed are from a Spellbinders set designed by Dawn Woleslagle from WPlus9.  The seahorse was painted with Abandoned Coral Oxide and the weeds with Blueprint Sketch and Peacock Feathers Oxides.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a great week.

Just Us Girls #673 - Word Week

Carol Mc is our host for Word Week at Just Us Girls and she has chosen

We can all use a little sunshine so I hope you'll add yours to our gallery.  For inspiration please check out what the Design Team and our guest designer Joanne have made.

To make my card bright as sunshine, I started with Distress Mica Sprays. When dry I embossed with a coverplate from Reverse Confetti (oob).  The sun is a die from MFT, also mica sprayed and the word die from EbyE is cut from orange foil.  The sentiment is from EbyE's Warm Fuzzies set.
