The Paper Players #747

There's a CAS challenge at The Paper Players - Things with Wheels.  I forgot I had a set I could use until I saw some of the cards in the gallery and they inspired me to do this.

The bug and truck are from Newton's Nook Destination Christmas, colored with Altenew Artist Markers.  I used my scoreboard to make roads and added the sentiment from Honey Bee's Wonder of Christmas.

Thanks for dropping by.  How are you coming with your Christmas cards?

The Paper Players #729

This is my second post of the day.  The deadline for The Paper Players is fast approaching and I just saw it this morning.  Nothing like quickly making a card to keep you on your toes.

Joanne asked for a single stamped image on a clean and simple card and since I need alcohol marker practice and would like to add to my sympathy stash, I decided on these Penny Black Calla lilies called Elegance.  They are stamped in Memento London Fog and colored with Altenew artist markers. The sentiment is also from Penny Black.

Thanks for dropping by - again.  I really appreciate it.

Freshly Made Sketches #676

One would think I'd be using flowers for the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches but not this time.

I dug out an old set from Penny Black called April Showers.  This card took a couple of turns before I ended up with this.  It started as a one layer card until I didn't like the way I colored the umbrella with my Altenew artist markers.    So I stamped and colored another one planning to place it over the first when I realized there were borders on the sketch.  I cut a panel down, cut some masking paper with Honey Bee's Deckle Edge rectangle, placing the negative on before inking with Stormy Sky DI.  That meant I also had to fussy cut the boots because PB didn't make dies back in the day.  The umbrella was stamped to get the handle, then placed over a PTI cloud.  The sentiment is from Stampendous.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you have a fancy umbrella for rainy days.

Just Us GIrls #763 - Mood Board Week

Are you ready for a Mood Board?  Our host Elizabeth has picked one for this week's challenge at Just Us Girls.

Here's a larger view for you.

My eye picked up on the candles in the upper right corner.

I got the inspiration from my friend Bonnie's card.  The sentiment and candle dies are from Concord and 9th.  The flames are colored with artist markers ala Sandy Allnock, although mine don't begin to compare with hers.  Click on her name to see the lesson on how we've all been coloring fire wrong.  I used 12 candles thinking this would be perfect for my great grandson's next birthday.

What catches your attention in the mood board?  I wonder how the Design Team and our guest Stef were inspired.  There's plenty to see on the Just Us Girls blog.  Why not make a card for the challenge?

Just Us Girls #762 - Word Week

It's Word Week at Just Us Girls and our host Ina has chosen this

We all like to send cards to our friends so this should be an easy one.

This sentiment stamp from Honey Bee jumped out at me so I stamped Tender Blooms from Waffle Flower to go with it.  The garden is colored with Altenew Artist Markers with a little Distress Ink for the background.

There is a wide variety of cards to inspire you from our Design Team and guest Smilyn Stef.  If you make a card and are the winner of the challenge, you have a chance to be a guest designer.  I'd love to see you in the gallery.

Freshly Made Sketches #672

The gals at Freshly Made Sketches had some creative ways to use Jacquie's sketch.  It took me a while but some little birds that had been sitting by my computer since Christmas spoke to me.

They are from Penny Black's Winter Wonderland and I had to flip the sketch to fit them on.  I don't remember how long it has been since I colored them with Altenew artist markers and fussy cut them but I think they are the cutest.  My mind took me to an old Winnie and Walter set for the branch.  It wasn't long enough so I added more with my micro pen.  A little inking with what was left on my blue DOX brush and a sentiment from MFT was all I needed to finish.

Thanks for dropping by.

The Paper Players #721

I have all my Valentine's made but I happened to see the Paper Players challenge and made another one.

The little hedgehog is from Honey Bee's Heart Hugs.  I just love those darling animals!  I used Altenew Artist Markers to give him the spines on his back.  The letter, die cut and sub-sentiment are from a couple of older SSS sets.

Thanks for dropping by.  If you are in the freeze zone, I hope you stay safe and warm.

AAA Card Challenge #281

I need to get busy on my Valentines.  I bought a stamp set from SSS that were good images for youngsters, not realizing they were full of hearts so I chose one of them to make a card for AAA Card Challenge using their twist.

The images were stamped with Gina K Amalgam ink and colored with Altenew artist markers.  The sentiment is from Altenew's Adore You.  Quick and easy and perfect for a 6 year old.

With so much freezing weather in one area of the US and raging forest fires in another, my prayers are with all the first responders who try to keep us safe and those who have lost everything.  I can't even imagine the heartbreak and devastation they have caused.

Thanks for dropping by.  Please stay safe yourself.

Merry Christmas to All!

I have a number of cards I made that never got posted so I thought I'd put some of them here today to wish you all a Merry Christmas.

I made several using Penny Black's Immense Joy and other PB images.

I like the JOY so much I got NOEL too.

If you need the particulars of any image or design feature, just let me know.

Have a wonderful holiday!

Color Hues #100

It's blue and purple at the month long challenge at Color Hues.  I had an idea right away and have had the cards made for a while but the extra time had me dragging my feet to post.  I'm finally getting it done.

I wanted to use the MFT bear from one set and the ice floes and sign from another.  They are stamped in gray and colored with Altenew artist markers.  I started with watercolor paper for my background and was not happy with how the sky turned out so I added some regular and Mica Distress sprays.  Much better.  A torn piece of cardstock made my frozen tundra. While I had everything out I made a second one.

This time I went directly to the sprays.  The outlines are stamped in black and the scarf is a lighter shade of the same colors.  The sentiments are from PTI.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope your holiday plans are going well.

Freshly Made Sketches #664

I almost did what a lot of the designers at Freshly Made Sketches did - use trees.  But while looking at a tree stamp from Reverse Confetti, I found another one in the DVD case that would work just as well.

The candles are colored with Altenew artist markers with a little WOS on the flames and Pico Embellishment on the drips.  For the background, I partially debossed the rays die, also from RC, and inked it with Citrus Burst.  The bottom half is a swipe of Limestone and the sentiment is from PB.

Thanks for taking the time to drop by.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Time Out #277 - Inspired by Words

It's time for another Time Out Challenge and this time you are to be inspired by words.  "There truly is not an occasion that is not improved by wearing something festive. " Emma Straub

I think we all enjoy putting on a little bling now and then, or maybe even an ugly sweater.  Whatever you like, transfer that into a card for the challenge.  For inspiration, check out the Design Team.

How festive is this little lady with her ornament decorated antlers and glittery sweater?!  I knew right away she would be the star of my card.  I colored her with Altenew artist markers, adding Glossy Accents to the ornaments and Sparkling Snow heat embossing on the collar and cuffs.  The sentiment is from C9.

Top Flight Stamps is our sponsor and the winner of the challenge will get a $25 credit to their store.

We'd love to see your card in our gallery.

Edited to Add:  I just saw The Paper Players challenge and this card fits there perfectly.

Color Hues #99

Today's post is for the Color Hues challenge and Marcia's pick of pink and aqua.  Congratulations to my friend Bonnie who is their newest design team member.

I got the Waffle Flower Winter Fun set last year and colored up a few of the images with my Altenew artist markers.  The little girl in pink inspired me to use the set for the challenge.  All I had to do was stamp another skater to color in aqua.  For the river I used the Mountains stencil from PFS with Salvaged Patina DOX ink then masked it off and used what was left on my pink brush to make the sky.  For interest I put them inside of Penny Black's Classy Frames, stacking the outside 3 times.  The sentiment is from Stampendous.  Now I just need to make another card with the rest of the already colored images.

Thanks for dropping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #660

I was working on some Christmas cards and thought maybe one would fit the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  It's not quite true to the sketch but I'm hoping it's close enough.

The stamp set is from Memory Box and  colored with Altenew Artist Markers. It's added to a panel embossed with the SSS Graceful Holly folder.

While I was stamping, I made another one using a different medium.

This is a one layer card, stamped on Bristol and colored with Zigs.  This one has the image stamped in the correct orientation.  I flipped it on the first card to make it more like the sketch.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a great weekend!
