Just Us Girls #817 - Die Week

It's the beginning of April and Sue has a great challenge for us at Just Us Girls Die Week.

I couldn't resist using my lovely layers April Showers from Honey Bee.

The boots were already cut in the folder but I double heat embossed them for 'weatherproofing'. 😉The patterned paper is from PB and the flowers are cut from scraps.  I used my favorite new embossing folder Tiny Flora for the background and a sentiment from Honey Bee's Squeeze the Day.

Now it's your turn.  Get out those dies and make a card for the challenge.  Need inspiration?  The Design Team and our guest have plenty of it for you on the blog.

Time Out #286

It's time for another Pick Two at Time Out

A pick two means you need to take at least two of the words listed in the banner and use them on your card.  I went with spots, floral and pastel.

It all started with a polka dot paper from my stash and the Honey Bee April Showers die set.  I pulled the colors from the dots for my flowers and used a trick I learned from Marcia Hill who learned it from Leslie Miller to use packing tape on your cardstock to get a shiny finish.  That's what I did with the boots.  The sentiment is from Altenew's Weekend Doodles.

Gina K is the sponsor for this challenge and she is offering a $25 store credit.  Let's go see what the Design Team has made to inspire you.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery.

Freshly Made Sketches #676

One would think I'd be using flowers for the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches but not this time.

I dug out an old set from Penny Black called April Showers.  This card took a couple of turns before I ended up with this.  It started as a one layer card until I didn't like the way I colored the umbrella with my Altenew artist markers.    So I stamped and colored another one planning to place it over the first when I realized there were borders on the sketch.  I cut a panel down, cut some masking paper with Honey Bee's Deckle Edge rectangle, placing the negative on before inking with Stormy Sky DI.  That meant I also had to fussy cut the boots because PB didn't make dies back in the day.  The umbrella was stamped to get the handle, then placed over a PTI cloud.  The sentiment is from Stampendous.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you have a fancy umbrella for rainy days.

The Card Concept #114

My former house used to have a high fence behind it and I would have wanted to decorate it like the photo from The Card Concept.  I did actually have colored paint cans hanging though.
No fence where I am now so I did it on paper.  Yes I got literal again.
I saw a video by Rina K and adjusted her idea to make my fence, using Altenew ink.  The boots are from PB and I colored them with PolyChromos, adding gel pen to the flower centers.  I also used gel pens for the flowers that I put in them.  Both the flowers and the sentiment are from EBE.

Thanks for dropping by.

Just Us Girls #409 - Word Week

Our host Lisa picked Shoes for Word Week at Just Us Girls.
I don't have any shoe stamps so I went with the next best thing - boots.
Inside: Right through the puddles of life.
I smooshed the background and sentiment strip with Distress Inks using a piece of acetate.  The PB rain boots were stamped on Bristol, colored with Zigs and popped up with foam tape. I didn't have a sentiment I liked so I made one on the computer that is also popped up.

Do you have a thing for shoes?  We'd love to have you make a card featuring a pair (or more).  The Design Team and our guest designer Linda Snodgrass have cards for your inspiration on the blog.  Enter a card and you may be chosen Chic of the Week with a chance to be November's guest designer.

The Card Concept #72

If April showers bring May flowers, what do May showers bring?  It looks like floods in some parts of the country and my prayers are with those who are in the disaster zones.

On a happier note, The Card Concept theme is April Showers and they have this cute photo for our inspiration.

I found a pair of boots that I die cut from one of Michele's dies the first time I visited.  Fortunately I had some of the same paper left to make my umbrella.

I did some faint stenciled raindrops in the background and added GA to the souls of the boots and the handle of the umbrella.  The inside sentiment says "Every path has its puddles."

I'm glad you dropped by and I hope your puddles are few.

Just Us Girls #349

It's photo week at Just Us Girls and look what a darling photo Chris has chosen.
I would love to have these hanging on my fence - if I had a fence.

My card includes another 'borrow' from Michele at our last playing cards session - Paper Smooches boots.  This was before I knew about the photo but I knew I wanted to cut out the boots so I took some patterned paper to do so. They worked perfect for this card.  For the fence I embossed the woodgrain on Smoke cs then rubbed it down with Hickory Smoke, Black Soot and Unicorn White inks.  A MFT border die made the fence top and the whole thing is on some green paper.  Sometimes the hardest part of making a card for me is the sentiment but when I saw this one from CB, I thought it was perfect.  I mean what good is one boot - unless you want to hang it on a fence. ;)

Now it's your turn.  Take whatever inspiration you want from the photo, or see what the rest of the design team has for you over on the JUGS blog, and add your card to the linky.  You may be lucky enough to be chosen Chic of the Week and even earn a guest designer spot for August.

Hope to see you there.

Just Us Girls #337

It's Word Week at Just Us Girls and the word is raindrops.
Wouldn't you know I've already made two rain cards lately and I wanted to come up with a different way to use my MFT raindrop stencil.  On one card, I inked the stencil and on the other I used embossing paste.  What else is there to do?  Look and see.
For this background I ran the Stormy Sky Distress Ink pad across the mixed-media paper, covering it all.  When it was dry, I put the stencil over it and using a damp baby wipe removed the color.  The boots from PB were colored with Zigs and covered with Glossy Accents.  I'd love a pair of wellies like these.  The umbrella from MFT was cut from Orange Zest and an offcut from a previous umbrella was the exact color I needed to tie it all together.

Now it's your turn.  What does the word raindrops conjure up for you? Stop by Just Us Girls for some inspiration from the Design Team and enter your card in the gallery.  You just may be our next Chic of the Week.

Hope to see you there.

CASology #46

I'll be leaving in the morning to go see my new great grandson for the first time.  I'm so excited!!!  His mother and grandmother came up to my son's to see my granddaughter star in Fame Jr at her middle school.  That means tomorrow will be one special Sunday.

I'm posting tonight to make the deadline for CASology.  I wasn't going to enter this challenge because I couldn't thing of anything but the obvious for the cue word:

Furry?  Let's see.  What's furry?  Animals.  Moustaches.  Fur coats. No, no and no.  I wasn't going to do it.   As I sat a thinkin', it hit me and here's what I got hit with.

As I was googling Uggs to see where the stitching was, I got hit again.  This time with a sentiment.  Ouch!  I added some quilt batting to the tops to show that they really are furry - inside anyway.

I just wish I'd thought of this in time for the humor challenge at Less is More this week.

Thanks for stopping by to visit.  I appreciate your comments, so why not leave one.
