Freshly Made Sketches #687

I'm now ensconced in my summer home with limited craft supplies.  As I went through everything looking for an idea for Freshly Made Sketches, I kept wondering "why didn't I bring . . .?"  I'm not sure why I included Altenew's Weekend Doodles but it worked well for Verena's sketch.

The flowers were stamped on Bristol, colored with Zigs and die cut to place on a panel embossed with Spellbinders Diamond Plaid.  The sentiment is a BetterPress, also from Spellbinders.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you find something that brings you joy today.

The Flower Challenge #100

It's time for another challenge at The Flower Challenge and this time we want you to include circles on your card along with your floral focus.

Because this is our 100th challenge, a few of the Design Team members have prizes to give to some of the cardmakers who enter the challenge.  You'll find more details on the The Flower Challenge blog.

My flowers are from Altenew's Peony Bouquet, stamped with Altenew ink, mounted on two Braided Circles from PFS and added to a card base of PTI Berry Sorbet.  The sentiment is a BetterPress from Spellbinders.

This is only one way to add circles to your card.  For more inspiration be sure to check out the beautiful cards that the Design Team has created.

Just Us Girls #697 - Photo/Moodboard Week

Carol Mayne is our host for Photo Week at Just Us Girls and she has a great moodboard for this time of year.

Here's a closer look.

I didn't have many stamps/dies with me that would work for any of these images but I zeroed in on the upper left photo and tried to replicate it.

It all started with smooshing Distress Inks on mixed media paper until I was happy with it.  A leaf from Honey Bee's Fall Foliage was cut from the center,  stacked three high and inlaid.  The panel was stamped with a sentiment from Altenew, trimmed down and attached to some rust paper.

Which photo captures your attention?  For inspiration please check out the cards from the Design Team and our guest designer Stephanie Lanzalotto.  If you are the winner of the challenge, you could be a future guest.

Time Out #190

There is a colorful summery photo at Time Out and my new paper pack from HoneyBee had the perfect paper to use.

I stamped a branch from Altenew's Leaf Canopy in Altenew ink and added one of their sentiments.  What could be easier.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope your week goes well.

Freshly Made Sketches #348

I don't know what is is about Freshly Made Sketches but it takes me almost until the challenge deadline to get an inspiration.  I just finished this.
Picked two papers and couldn't decide on a third.  Painted a flower and didn't like the color.  So I stuck in a black and white stripe that goes well with anything and used a different Zig for the WF flower that I put on a PFS hexagon after stamping the PB sentiment.  Now I'm happy.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do, especially if you leave a comment.

Freshly Made Sketches #422

It seems I'm always racing to get a card for Freshly Made Sketches in on time but I have to wait until inspiration strikes. ;)
I knew I wanted to use the PB flowers on the small rectangle so I heat embossed them in white and  inked the background in Lucky Clover DOX.  I removed the ink on the petals with water and then painted them with Spiced Marmalade DOX.    The panel is foam mounted on a  Brusho piece that I did a while ago.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope your week gets off to a great start.

CAS(E) This Sketch #309

That was some sketch they gave us at CAS(E) This Sketch
and what I originally saw is not what happened when I made my card.
You could almost call this a 'gift' card since the DSP was from a pack given to me by Nancy last Fall when I visited her, the black roses are from a die that Darnell gave me for my birthday last year and the embossing folder (barely visible in the photo) was a Christmas gift from my sister.  The only thing that I bought are the label sentiments from Neat and Tangled - another long neglected stamp set.

Thanks for dropping by. I love it when you do.

Inspired by All the Little Things #57

Oh what a lovely bunch of tulips they have for their inspiration at Inspired by All the Little Things.  I do have some tulip stamps but none of them seemed enough so I went in a totally different direction.

Using the Harleen stencil from W&W, I colored it with Distress Inks in the colors of the photo.  I stamped the EbyE sentiment on vellum so the beautiful colors could show through.

Thanks for dropping by.

Less is More 263 and Just Us Girls #330

I haven't played along at Less is More and Just Us Girls in a while so I sat down today to make that happen.  Up first is Less Is More - one layer with a stem.  I'm not particularly good with one layer cards but I do like this one.
I used Inktense pencils to color this flower by HA.  I wanted something else and remembered the MFT line embossers that I got as a free gift with an order a while back.  The cross stitch worked well to add a little dimension.

ETA:  Thanks to Sarah, I'm going to also send this card to the Hero Arts challenge - Fabulous Flowers.

Just Us Girls wanted a tag on their cards.
I used the tag for my sentiment from My Craft Spot (no longer in business), coloring in the letters to match the streamers from Sugar Pea Designs, part of the Stamp of Approval box.  I thought all the colors of embroidery thread added to the fun of the card.  One mistake - I should have colored the word 'birthday' in a lighter color.  You can read it on the card but it's difficult to see on screen.

I'll be back tomorrow with some more cards to post but I've set the day aside to begin work on my third quilt.  I definitely need to get my desk cleaned up tonight so I have room to work.  Unless I get an inspiration for another card.  In that case, I'll clean up in the morning. ;)
