The Paper Players #735 and NBUS #73

I love it when an email shows up that leads me to a challenge.  Sometimes I forget to look at my list and that email is just the nudge I need.  Today I saw a couple for The Paper Players and got busy and made a card.

I purchased the Sunflower Serenade from Spellbinders a while ago and thought it would work well for the sketch - all made from scraps.  A strip of Honey Bee paper that looks like burlap was die cut along the edges with HB's Deckle Edge die.  It kind of gave my card a rustic, country look.  The sentiment is a BetterPress done in brown.

It's the first time using the sunflower so off it goes to Darnell's NBUS .

The Paper Players #717 and NBUS #68

I had some time on my hands and went looking for a challenge to play in.  The Paper Players sketch worked great with a stamp from Spellbinders.

It's stamped on Bristol and watercolored with Distress Inks.  A scrap of plain red patterned paper made a great ribbon to match the sentiment.

I got this set on sale a while ago but this is its first outing so I'm also sending my card to Darnell's NBUS

52 Christmas Card Throwdown - 17.23

There's a sketch challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and I must admit it had me stumped for a while and I'm still not sure I love my card but I want to keep up with this weekly challenge as long as I can.

I turned the sketch 90 degrees to the right.  The Memorybox mistletoe makes up the triangle in the sketch, cut from green and inked to add dimension.  The berries are white glitter paper.  My one last scrap of the striped paper was cut in half to add the stripes and the sentiment is a die from Concord and 9th.  Do you think it resembles the sketch?

The Male Room #172

I combined an older stamp (which I said I was going to start using more) with the need for masculine cards to make a card for The Male Room.  They have a sketch this time.

While this looks black it's actually In the Navy from GinaK.  The gold heat embossed image is Geo Builders from Catherine Pooler back when she did Stamp of Approval kits and is no longer available and neither is the sentiment from SSS.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a great week!

AAA Cards Challenge #218

Just a quick post today to enter the AAA Cards challenge.  I saw the word 'flowers' and had to make a card.

I stamped various images from WaffleFlower's Simple Stems on Bristol and colored them with Zigs.  The sentiment is from MFT.   Here's the sketch we were to follow.

Thanks for dropping by.  If you are in the USA, have a happy and safe 4th of July.

AAA Cards #202

AAA Cards had me at gnome.  That is the option for their sketch challenge.

I bought the Gina K set and have been having fun making gnomes.   I made this one a Scandinavian gnome by using patterned paper from American Crafts.  The sentiment is from another gnome set I have from Sugar Pea.  Here's the sketch.

As you can see I made an A2 card instead of square.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do.

Freshly Made Sketches #348

I don't know what is is about Freshly Made Sketches but it takes me almost until the challenge deadline to get an inspiration.  I just finished this.
Picked two papers and couldn't decide on a third.  Painted a flower and didn't like the color.  So I stuck in a black and white stripe that goes well with anything and used a different Zig for the WF flower that I put on a PFS hexagon after stamping the PB sentiment.  Now I'm happy.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do, especially if you leave a comment.

CAS(E) This Sketch #339

My NBUS EBE Happy Haunting stamps made it easy to make a card for this week's CAS(E) This Sketch.
I altered a cut from PTI to make my background, coloring it with Distress Inks.  The jar was stamped and die cut and for the piece de resitance I added some eyes from Doodlebug to creep it real. ;)

Thanks for dropping by.

AAA Cards #148

AAA  Cards has a sketch for us this time with the optional twist of a critter.  This is what I came up with.
Michele gave me the MFT giraffe stamp set and I thought his tall skinny shape would work good with the sketch that I turned sideways.  I masked off the strip and blended Bundled Sage Distress Ink.  When dry I added the leaf stencil from PTI in Peeled Paint, also using it to ground the critter.
Thanks for dropping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #401

Part of a card popped into my head the minute I saw the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.
I knew I would use the floral hoop from C9 for the circles. Once I had them cut, the rest of the color scheme came together.
I smooshed DOXs onto Mixed Media paper to get my leaf colors.  I tried out a number of sentiment labels and wasn't happy until I made this one - a PTI hello heat embossed in copper on a PTI oval. It's the Core'dinations paper that gives it the texture.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you had a good weekend.

Freshly Made Sketches #387

Freshly Made Sketches gave me the opportunity to use a new product.  Nuvo Expanding Mousse.
I die cut my own stencil using a tag from SSS and applied the mousse, heating it right away.  They say you get a different result if you let it dry first but I was in a hurry to get this finished and ready to post.  I just happened to have the two leaf cuts in with the Poppystamps die and thought they looked good together with mousse color.  The trimmed panel was added to some Desert Storm after stamping the HA sentiment in PTI Kraft.

To all of you celebrating, I wish you a Happy Mother's Day.

The Flower Challenge April Reminder

Have you seen the sketch at The Flower Challenge
This is the format you are to use for your card this month and there is still time to play.  The Design Team has more inspiration for you over on the blog.
Here are the details on mine.
The petunias are from WPlus9 and I placed one on the lattice die cut from MFT and made a pot for the other ones from an MFT oval.  A little Hickory Smoke DI adds some dimension.  The sentiment is from PTI.  This may be a little out of proportion but you can still recognize the sketch in it.

Now it's your turn.  Take the sketch, adds some flowers and enter it in the challenge.  We'd love to see what you create.

The Flower Challenge #31

This month The Flower Challenge has a sketch for you to base your card on. Just remember the main image must be flowers.

I thought Spring while I was making mine.
Hopefully daffodils will soon be pushing up through the ground.  These are layered stamps from Altenew.  For the background I taped off and inked up two Distress Ink greens.  The sentiment is from Penny Black.

Need inspiration?  The Design Team has plenty for you on the blog.

September Essentials Challenge

Today's card is for the September Essentials Challenge at Ellen Hutson.  This is the sketch we are to follow.
And my card.
You have to use stamps that are sold by Ellen Hutson on your card so I've used the Altenew Spring Daisy for my flower and a sentiment from MFT's More Essential Sentiments.  The background is from my WTDWT (what to do with this) drawer that was made with shaving foam and food coloring.

Thanks for dropping by.

CAS(E) This Sketch #250

I had some NBUS stamps just waiting for a challenge and CAS(E) This Sketch was it.
These are the WPlus9 petunias.  Don't ask what I stamped them in because I was smart enough to write the colors on the back of the paper, and dumb enough to die cut the paper into the flowers.  Ack!!  I've tried to recreate it and came close but no cigar.

It's snowing up a storm here so I have a feeling we'll be hibernating for a few days.  That will give me a chance to get some of January's DT cards ready.

Thanks for dropping by.  Keep warm if you are in the cold zone and stay safe wherever you are.
