The Paper Players #727

Today's rain just might bring Spring flowers but you can find them anyway at the newest challenge at The Paper Players.  

Altenew's Daffodil Delight was stamped in VersaFine Clair Morning Mist and stenciled using Altenew inks.  The panel was trimmed and added to polka dot cardstock that I found among other paper so I have no idea of its maker but I thought the yellow and orange complimented the flowers.  The sentiment is from Altenew's One-Go Birthday Greetings.

Group of Seven Card makers - April Eclipse.

Hey there!  I'm glad you dropped by.

I didn't realize until I typed the title of my post that the Group of Seven Cardmakers technique is quite appropriate for this month.  I happen to live right in the path of the best view of the solar eclipse and my son and his family are coming to join us (and thousands of other people I've heard) to watch this incredible event.  Yes, we do have the required glasses.  

But you came here for cards and the Cover Die Eclipse Technique.  

I have a ton of cover plates but much to my chagrin, most of them won't work for this technique.  Here I've used one from Waffle Flower with patterned paper. You need two sheets - one for the base layer and one to cut.  I added two layers of heavy white cardstock behind the cut panel.  It looked like a birthday celebration to me so I added the die cut sentiment from Altenew. It was tricky making sure the letters had a place to stick.  

A lot of the Go7 cardmakers stenciled cards to use and so I tried that next.

The flowers are Daffodil Delight from Altenew that comes with a stencil.  You have to be sure to color them as close to the same as possible.  Like I said before, I have a ton of cover plates but most of them just make stitch lines on a panel.  I didn't pay close enough attention and tried to use one of them on my stenciled panel.  Yikes!  Onward and upward I go by cutting again with one part of a plaid die from Concord and 9th and layering it.  You can still see the stitch lines 😢 but I think it's still okay.  I did hate to see the stenciled pieces fall from the plate and thought for just a brief moment of saving them for another card.  Then I thought better of it and watched them fall into the recycle bin.  

This is a fun and rather easy technique so I hope you give it a try.

The Flower Challenge #86 - Reminder

There's still time to play in The Flower Challenge with your yellow, black and white cards.

I stenciled the Delightful Daffodil from Altenew on the front of my card base intending to make a one layer card.  BUT . . . I wasn't careful enough with my inking and got some below the flowers.  Then it was time to get out the die and do some partial die cutting.  I did cut the panel down to glue to another card base so the black strip wouldn't show inside.  The sentiment is a layered die cut from MFT.

Just Us Girls #576 - Color Week

Our host Nancy has picked the colors for Color Week at Just Us Girls.

For most color challenges you will find me using flowers and this one is no exception.

Yellow just said daffodils to me so I stamped the ones from Altenew and placed them on a gray background debossed with Dotted Swirls. The sentiment is from the same set and white embossed on black. 

I hope you'll join me and the rest of the Design Team in making a card using these colors.  We'd love to see how these colors inspire you.

 

Freshly Made Sketches #424

Even though it's cold outside, the sun is shining and it makes me think Spring.  Spring means Easter and since I need a number of Easter cards for our church homebound,  Freshly Made Sketches provided great inspiration.

There is a daffodil and dotted background stamp from Altenew, a sentiment from PTI and Key Lime cardstock from GinaK, all based on this sketch.

The Flower Challenge #31

This month The Flower Challenge has a sketch for you to base your card on. Just remember the main image must be flowers.

I thought Spring while I was making mine.

Hopefully daffodils will soon be pushing up through the ground.  These are layered stamps from Altenew.  For the background I taped off and inked up two Distress Ink greens.  The sentiment is from Penny Black.
