Just Us Girls #696 - Word Week

I'm hosting Word Week at Just Us Girls and I've chosen "Moon" as our word.

I was really thinking Harvest Moon when I chose the word but I ended up making a Christmas card.

I started by cutting an MFT circle die from masking paper.  Distress Inks in Faded Jeans, Prize Ribbon, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot were used to color the sky. Santa needed something to fly over so I made a roof using the Spellbinders scalloped embossing folder, inking it with the same colors.  A soft dusting of snow, the silhouette from CPD and a Ho Ho Ho as he flies away finished it off.

What kind of moon will you put on your card?  As always, the Design Team has wonderful inspiration for you.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery.

Time Out #139

It's been  a while since I've posted a card other than my Design Team ones.  After a week at the lake I'm ready to get back into it until I leave again next week for a trip to Boston with my daughter.  Today's card is for Time Out and their "Inspired by Words".
I inked up the moon with Squeezed Lemonade before masking it to blend other Distress Inks onto my Bristol panel, then added stars with acrylic paint. Once I removed the mask I added a little shading and then stamped the wildflowers from MFT.  The sentiment is also from MFT.

Thanks for dropping by and virtual hugs if you leave a comment.

CAS(E) This Sketch #293

My internet was out this morning and I was so afraid I wouldn't be able to post my card for CAS(E) This Sketch.  Isn't it crazy how much we rely on the internet?  Half a day down and we don't know what to do with ourselves.  I should have posted it right after I made it.  Here it is now.

I just love this little owl from Gerda Steiner.  Who am I kidding?  I love any owl. 😉  This one is colored with PolyChromos.  The background is covered with a variety of Distress Inks, the moon is a leftover circle and the cloud is hand cut from vellum - all based on this sketch.
Thanks for dropping by.  Owl see you later.  😀

Addicted to Stamps and More #215

As Halloween approaches, challenges are gearing up for it and that includes Addicted to Stamps and More.  This is photo challenge week.

Spooky, no?  But it doesn't have to be a spooky card.  Look at mine.

Stamps from Penny Black and Winnie & Walter
Or better yet, go to ATSM and check out what the Design Team has done.

There are digital images up for grabs from our sponsors for this challenge: 3 from QKR Stampede and 2 from  Stamplorations.

Will we see you in the gallery?

Curtain Call, W & W Rerun, and The Challenge #45

I've been on a Halloween card making streak and to day I have two for three different challenges.  First up is for Curtain Call - Going Batty.
I masked the moon and then black embossed the two sizes of bats from W & W's Moonlight.  The sky is inked with Distress Inks and I liked the way the moon looked with ink over the edges of the mask so when I removed the mask I did a little more inking.  The sentiment from MFT is embossed in white on a scrap of black.  I wiped off the static powder before the sentiment was dry which left streaks that I quite liked.  This will be my second entry into the Winnie and Walter Moonlight Rerun.

Card number two started out with me inking up a Tim Holtz 'shattered' stencil in black on white just to see if it would look like a spider web.  It looked great but then how would I use it.  The Challenge to the rescue.
The circle, vampire and sentiment are from MFT and that black embossed spider from W&W.  I'm sure there will be more Halloween challenges before the end of October.  Can I come up with any new ideas?

I'm so glad you dropped by.  You're all 'fang-tastic'.

CASology # 163

The cue word at CASology this week is moon.  There are a lot of ways to go with that image but since I've been in Halloween mode lately, that's what I went with.

I masked off a circle for my moon and inked it with Unicorn White.  The ghosts from MFT are stamped with the same ink, then filled in with a Fantastix. I drew the eyes in myself. When the ink was dry, I black embossed the bat and added some eerie Liquid Pearl eyes.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches cut twice in orange and once in orange glitter.  I wish I could get as inspired to do other cards as I am for these Halloween ones.

Thanks for dropping by.  I appreciate your visits.
