Time Out #310

Time Out has an inspired by challenge that is just in time to fill your Easter baskets or whatever else you have in your stash to make a sweet card.

I gave away some of my secret addictions with my card. 😂

I cut the Candy Jars from MFT and filled them with dark chocolate M & Ms and Good and Plenty.  Once the candies were glued down I covered the jars with packing tape to make it look like glass.  The embossing is Dotty Circles from Altenew and the sentiment is from MFT Expressions

Our sponsor for this challenge is Lawn Fawn who is offering our winner $25 store credit.  The winner will also be asked to guest design for a future challenge.  Just remember that your card is restricted to 5 challenges including Time Out.   We hope you'll join us.

The Paper Players #764

I had some lull time today and went looking for a card challenge.  The Paper Players had one that brought to mind a die set I had been meaning to use.

The bulbs are from Lawn Fawn and I wanted to make them from Treasure Cardstock from Spellbinders.  I had the blue and red but wanted yellow so I used an Altenew artist marker in Lemon Yellow to color the Antique Treasure cs and used the matte metallic from each pack for the bottom layer that shows through as a highlight.  What looks like black on my card is actually silver from Recollections, used for the string, bulb tops and border.  The sentiment is from Concord and 9th.

Thanks for dropping by and sharing a little piece of your day with me.

Inkspirational #345

The Inkspirational theme is three of the same and so daisies it is.

The funny thing is I went to my secondary Facebook page and this same design came up.  I searched my blog and saw I made one like it in June of 2023. The only difference was in the color of the background, the color of the basket and where the sentiment was placed.  The daisies are from TH Wildflowers, cut from watercolor paper and colored with Distress Inks.  The basket from The Greetery was cut in silver and backed with vellum.  The light blue background is embossed with the Timeworn Type folder.  The sentiment from The Greetery was added to a silver stick and bracket.  I guess a good design bears repeating. 😉

Thanks for dropping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #692

I finally finished a card for Freshly Made Sketches and it's for Christmas.

I didn't realize when I bought Spellbinders Christmas Wonder that all the little die cuts were to fit in the envelope of another of their Envelope Wonder series.  If the original ever goes on sale I may get it but meantime I'll use all those cute images in other ways, like the bells on this card.  They are cut from silver, although they look a little tarnished in the photo, with bows from some TH patterned paper.  The bokeh background paper is from Honey Bee as is the sentiment, stamped in Altenew Winter Lake.

Thanks for dropping by.

Christmas Kickstart #97 - Positively Poinsettias

Jo asked me to be her elf at Christmas Kickstart for April.  I can't tell you how excited I was to get that invitation.  I also got to pick the theme for this month's challenge and this is it.

I don't know about you but I have a number of poinsettia stamps and dies so I thought it would be good to let you use yours to get a kickstart on your Christmas cards.  Here's mine.

This is a BetterPress plate from Spellbinders called Festive Poinsettias. It works beautifully as a hot foil plate that covers the background so you can use the available stencils to color in the image.  The sentiment is from  Pinkfresh Studio's Basic Banners, heat embossed in silver.  I really had to search for a place to take the photo since the foil background wanted to reflect a range of different colors.  It worked best standing up.

Now it's your turn to make a card featuring poinsettias.  Please be sure to read the challenge guidelines on the blog.  I'll be back on the 15th with another card to inspire you.  I'd love to see your card in the gallery.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown - Week 10

I'm still at it.  Week 10 of 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and I have a card for their black and silver challenge.

This was my second attempt.  Stamping black on silver cardstock didn't go well so I did the reverse.  The images and sentiment are from Woodware and although it looks dark, the panel is bordered with silver.

Thanks for dropping by.  Has your weather been as much of a roller coaster ride as ours?

CAS Christmas - January 2022

Silver and gold.  Classic Christmas accent colors and the choice of Julia at CAS Christmas.

I cut an ornament from Elizabeth Crafts from gold and silver and inlaid the gold into the silver outline.  I don't know what I was thinking because this is so fiddly, especially those tiny dots, but I love how it turned out.  For this card I embossed the PTI sentiment in silver and cut the panel with an Altenew die.

Of course this allows for a second card in reverse.

Here I edged the panel in the same gold as the PTI sentiment.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you are staying well.

Freshly Made Sketches #517

I thought I was going to skip the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches until I remembered a new die I got from STAMPlorations.  I thought it would work great for the sketch.

The die was cut from mirrored silver and pink sparkle cardstocks with the pink inlaid into the silver for my card.  (I saved the other pieces to make a reverse card later.)  The panels were cut from Hero Arts rounded rectangles and the Altenew sentiment was heat embossed in silver.   I have all my valentines made  so I'm getting a head start for next year.

The Male Room #156 and ABC Christmas - W

I had a lot of fun playing with GinaK's gnomes and made a number of cards that I never posted.  I was just waiting for challenges like The Male Room and ABC Christmas. - Whimsical

The body and hat were cut from aqua cardstock and the hat foiled with silver polka dots.  The background was inked with Speckled Egg and the mountains stamped over it in a couple shades of brown.  Texture paste was added through a stencil to the tops for snow.  A few splatters for more snow and a sentiment from the same set was all I needed to finish it off.

If you have gnomes in your collection, you may want to check out these challenges.

Color Throwdown #619

I recently got the Memory Box mistletoe and thought it would work great with the Color Throwdown challenge.

The mistletoe was watercolored with Zigs and placed on an SU embossed panel that was cut with a Spellbinders Hemstitch die.  I added the required red to peek through and cut the bow and TH sentiment in silver.   I just realized I didn't add the berries.  They could have been my red element although I do believe actual mistletoe berries are white.

I'm slowly but surely getting my Christmas cards done.  How about you?

Happy Little Stampers Christmas - July

Have you started your Christmas cards yet?  You know it's July already, right?  Well here's a chance to get started.  Happy Little Stampers Christmas has a new challenge starting today and it features.
Who can resist that option?  Certainly not I.
The SSS Lined Trees were first cut in silver foil and then in green glitter paper and inlaid into the embossed panel.  The silver heat embossed sentiment is from HLS.

Why not check out the Design Team's cards and get inspired to start your own Christmas stash, sparkle or not.

CAS Christmas - Gifts

One good thing about visiting crafty friends is they let you borrow their stamps and dies.  Last week on a visit to Michele's, she let me take the perfect die for the CAS Christmas Challenge.
The SSS packages look so pretty all wrapped in scraps of Christmas paper with silver foil ribbons.  Heat embossing the PTI sentiment caused my paper to warp and when I ran it through my Big Shot to flatten it out, the plate wasn't in the right place and made a groove on the panel.  I ended up embossing the background to cover it up and it is one of those happy accidents because I love the texture it gives.

I sit here looking at the photo on the screen and the actual card and the color is so different.  No matter what I do with my camera, my light box or my photo editing program, I can't get things to come out true to life.  And it's not consistent which is the frustrating part.  I've even gone back and forth from my camera to my phone and that doesn't make much difference either.   Maybe I just need to wait for sunny days and take all my photos then.  It doesn't look like we'll have many of those this week.  But with all the new floor prep I won't have much time to make cards anyway.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you have a great week!
