Time Out #267 - Theme Challenge

It's time for our next challenge at Time Out and this is a theme challenge.

We are being sponsored by Picket Fence Studio who will award a $25 store credit to our winner so get making those cards.

The stars are from Pinkfresh Studio foiled in gold, cut out and arranged on navy cardstock.  The sentiment is from MFT and embossed with Gold Sparkle powder.

Here's a close up so you can see the shine and sparkle better.

The Design Team has been seeing stars and have plenty to inspire you.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery.

Just Us Girls # 647 - Photo Week

Lisa E is the host for Photo Week at Just Us Girls and this is the photo she chose for your inspiration.

I must say I was a little stumped with this since I don't have any back to school stamps although I guess some of my crafting ones would have worked. Instead I took the colors and one of the elements and made this.

The word die is from MFT and the stars from various companies, all cut from scraps.

The Design Team and our guest Cathy have cards based on this photo to show you.  Please be sure to check them out and then make a card for our gallery.  Who knows?  You could be a future guest.

Twofer Card Challenge #33

This month at the Twofer Card Challenge they are allowing us to catch up with our holiday cards by making two Christmas cards instead of two cards for different occasions.  I took advantage of that and made these using the requisite stars.

I knew I wanted to use the EbyE Star Trail and played around with different images until I found something that pleased me.  Both of my images and sentiments are from MFT.
On black watercolor paper, I used Altenew metallic watercolors to make my aurora borealis.  The bear and iceberg were colored with Zigs and the stars were lined with glitter paper. It's difficult to see it and the sparkle of the heat embossed sentiment in the photo.

For the background on this card I used Distress Inks with a blending brush, then cut the panel with a N&T scalloped rectangle.  The angel was colored with Zigs and shimmer paper was added behind the stars.

It was so much fun to make these cards.  I hope your Christmas card stash is coming along.  The gals at Twofer can help you along with some wonderful inspiration if you check out the blog.

Just Us Girls #555 - Photo Challenge

Cecile is this week's host at Just Us Girls and for the Photo Challenge she has chosen this:

I thought the stars and colors would make a great masculine card.

I started out by stamping the stripes with an MFT background stamp, cut off the corner and added it to my card base.  The Altenew sentiment was stamped in the same color although it doesn't look like it.  The MFT stars were cut from a scrap of blue polka dot and plain red and scattered about.

What do you think of when you see the photo?  Want to see what the Design Team and our guest designer Lindsey did?  Head on over to Just Us Girls for plenty of inspiration.

Time Out #135

Here are the words to inspire our cards for the Time Out challenge.
I focused on the stars and made this for a graduation card.
I cut the two star trails from EbE from Bristol and then inked the panel with Distress Inks. The sentiment from MFT is embossed in silver and silver metallic paper from Neenah shows through the stars and borders the panel.

Thanks for dropping by.

Twofer Card Challenge #13 and Seize the Birthday #159

It's hard to believe that Twofer Cards is on their lucky 13th challenge.  It seems like just yesterday that Darnell put this together with a fabulous Design Team to help us stretch our stamps.  This month the challenge is
I started looking through my stamps, not thinking I had many star ones and found a few I had overlooked.  We often do that with some of the smaller images in stamp sets.
The stars came from a set by Catherine Pooler which is where I also got the sentiment and larger star on the Christmas card.

I started by white heat embossing the stars.  The nativity is a NBUS set from Woodware that I stamped in black using my MISTI.  I inked the panel with Distress Inks and then  restamped the black.

I spent some time the other day organizing my 'happy birthday' stamps and ran across a sentiment from Penny Black that was perfect with the stars.
I dressed up the EBE bear for a party, coloring the hat and cupcake with PolyChromos pencils and popping him over the yellow stars.  Here are the parameters for the Twofer Challenge.
I will also be sending that birthday bear to Seize the Birthday where it's an "Anything Goes" challenge.

Thanks for dropping by.  If you haven't tried these challenges I encourage you to do so.

Happy Little Stampers Christmas - February

Are you continuing to work on your Christmas cards so you won't be behind come December?  Happy Little Stampers has a challenge that will nudge you in that direction.  Come take a look at what the Design Team has made using this code word and optional twist at Happy Little Stampers Christmas.
I always try to use the option and I did on this card.
I just got the star trail dies from EbyE and saw that the SSS "Believe" die fit that curve beautifully.  Gold cardstock and gold embossing look wonderful with navy blue.

We'd love to see your Christmas card in our gallery this month.

CAS Mix-Up, Watercolor and Christmas

Time is running out now that the CAS challenges are cutting short for the holidays.  I didn't even get a chance to play along with them in November so I'm going to post all three cards together in order to make the deadline.

First CAS Mix-up where the prompt is emboss resist.
I had my PTI Meadow Greens on my desk for another card and knew they looked wonderful white embossed against a bright background.  In this case I used Brushos, with stamping and die cutting.

Next is 'Thanks' for CAS Watercolor.
An older stamp from Penny Black was watercolored with Zigs and backed with an MFT scalloped oval.  The sentiment is also PB.

Last but not least is the one for CAS Christmas using stars.
I still have a wreath I made similar to this and it was my inspiration.  I cut the SSS wreath in two colors of brown to make it fuller, then added the gold foil stars.  The bow is a NBUS die from MFT cut from gold foiled polka dots.  The gold heat embossed sentiment is from HLS.

Congratulations to Loll and Bonnie who are starting a new CAS challenge in January.
You and your wonderful design teams have made making CAS cards so much fun.

Just Us Girls #462 - Trend Week

Carol has chosen a fun trend for us this week on Just Us Girls.
You can do so many different techniques to make your celestial card and I chose one I hadn't done in a while.  Brushos with spray starch.

I knew this challenge was coming up and so I bought the Written in the Stars set when I was at My Favorite Things.  I heat embossed the sentiment in silver and added some silver mirror stars from SSS after splattering with acrylic paint.

Our guest designer Linda and the rest of the team have some wonderful cards to inspire you.  Check them out and enter your card in our gallery.  If you are chosen Chic of the Week you could be a guest in January.

Merry Monday #289

It's funny how sometimes code words or themes run through challenges.  I did a card with stars for one challenge and now Merry Monday is asking for a star.

I got these layered stars on Amazon and decided to cut them from Neenah metallic papers, using two of the four colors in the pack on the star and one for the background.  The sentiment from MCS is embossed in platinum.  It's a pretty QACAS card (quick and clean and simple) and looks much better IRL.

Thanks for dropping by.

Happy Little Stampers Christmas - May

I can't believe it's May already and time for a new challenge at Happy Little Stampers Christmas.  This time the challenge is Anything Goes with the option of stars.

I went with the option.
The stars are from CPD and were heat embossed in white.  I tore a piece of copy paper for a mask at the bottom and inked a night sky with Distress Inks, then used the paper to make a few drifts in the snow.  Santa (from the same CPD set) and the sentiment from EbyE were stamped in Onyx Black.

The HLS Design Team has some wonderful cards for you to see.  Why not check them out and then make a card for the gallery.  You may win a $20 GC from HLS.

CAS(E) This Sketch #265

Before I spent the afternoon scrapbooking I made a card for this week's CAS(E) This Sketch.
I used a stencil from AliExpress to make rainbow stars from Distress Ink along one side of the card and then cut a larger star and popped it up along side of them.  The sentiment is from CPD, the word double cut and the smaller one heat embossed on paper inked with the same blue DI.  The photo looks blurry to me and I don't know why.  I took another one and it looked the same.  Maybe it's just the shadows.

Thanks for dropping by today.

Merry Monday #261

Most of the ornaments on my Christmas tree are home made and I love them.  None of them look like the ones on my card for Merry Monday.  These look more like some of the old ones that I got from my parents.
Using a set from SSS, I heat embossed the ornaments with some discontinued powders from the craft department at my local grocery store.  They're not the best but they did give that antique look that I was going for. The background looked a little plain so I stamped the stars from the CP Stamp of Approval box in Delicata Gold.  Gold thread hangs the ornaments above the My Craft Spot sentiment.

ETA:  This card won a honorable mention at Merry Monday.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope your weekend is going well.
