The Paper Players #790

I was honored with a win at The Paper Players last week with this card and I'm here to play in this week's challenge.  Christy's colors were perfect for my Tropical Friends from Spellbinders.  We only needed to use three of the four colors but they all worked.

He's on a panel cut with MFT's Wonky Stitched Rectangles and the sentiment is from BetterPress.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a bit of your day with me.

Color Throwdown #834

Well what do you know?  Finally a color challenge that includes green and I didn't make any flowers. I'm branching out.  😁  For Color Throwdown.

The citrus slices are from Ellen Hutson's Squeeze the Day, hence the sentiment.  I know limes and oranges aren't generally same size but there are smaller oranges.  😊  These were colored with Zigs. The background was made using my pouncer and watered down Sea Breeze ink from Altenew.  The panel was cut with MFT's Wonky Rectangles and popped up.

Thanks for dropping by.  Squeeze the day!

As You See It #341

I don't think I've ever played in the As You See It challenge before but after seeing my friend Michele as the guest designer, I decided to play along.  The board below shows the five items you must include on your card.

For the pastel portion I stamped the cocktails from Newton's Nook in VersaFine gray , heat embossed them (another requirement), colored them with Zigs, and die cut them.  I heat embossed a celebration sentiment from the set, cut it with a PFS label, punched holes and attached with gray and white twine.  This all takes place on a panel cut with a die from MFT.

Here's to you for dropping by my blog.  I appreciate it and the comments.

Time Out #262 - Photo Inspiration

Kim Heggins used to be a design team member at Time Out and is an incredible seamstress.  She made the inspiration for our challenge.

Kim has an Etsy shop called Running Stitch Design and is offering the winner of our challenge a $25 credit to her shop.

I took my cue from the brown checked fabric on the bottom of the bag and the dogs in the print fabric.  I have always loved this dog from Gerda Steiner, stamped him on a panel cut with MFT's wonky rectangles and colored him with Zigs.  The checked background is a stamp from Concord and 9th.  The sentiment from the GS set was stamped and cut with an Altenew speech bubble.

Need inspiration other than that fabulous bag?  The Design Team has plenty to show you.

Color Throwdown #747

I was lucky enough to win Color Throwdown #745 with this card.

And because I was the featured stamper, they asked me to be a guest designer for challenge #747.

I didn't see the winner's post until late so I had to quickly make a card in time for the deadline.  After several failed attempts I found success.

Altenew's Weekend Doodles to the rescue.  I stamped the flowers, colored them with Altenew artist markers and added a sentiment from the same set.  The panel was cut with MFT's Wonky Stitched Rectangles, which I thought fit the wonky flowers, and mounted on yellow cardstock.

How would you use these colors?  The design team at Color Throwdown would love to see your card in the gallery.

Seize the Birthday #255

Seize the Birthday has an interesting parameter for their twist this time.

With the initials BH I could do just about anything as long as I added the Happy Birthday sentiment.  Too easy so I picked a few other things that begin with those letters.  Want to see how many?

First there's the BearWare bear from EbyE all ready for a party with his hat and present.  Then there's that pretty pink balloon he brought along.  They're on a white panel cut with MFT's wonky rectangle and then on some patterned paper I thought looked like large confetti.  For a sentiment I had to include the word hugs for the H and it comes from Altenew.

Thanks for dropping by.

CAS Christmas - June 2021

I'm glad CAS Christmas is a monthly challenge because it gave me time to order a snowman for their current challenge.  I have a couple of snowman stamps at home but I only really like one of them so he's been over used. ;)  Here's my new one from Penny Black.

I colored him with Zigs, die cut him and placed him on a panel cut with MFT's wonky stitched rectangle to which I did a light ink blending.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do.

Inspired By #171 and Time Out #186

I love it when a plan comes together.  I had what I thought was a perfect stamp for the Inspired By challenge.  See photo below.

I smooshed the background with Distress Inks and cut it with MFT's wonky stitched rectangle.  The bulldog is from Gerda Steiner and his party hat from Winnie and Walter, both colored with DI.  The sentiment for the speech bubble was computer generated.  Now for the inside sentiment?  What do you think it is?  Or should be?

I don't have any pets but I'm sending this grumpy fellow to Time Out for their challenge.

Thanks for dropping by.

Addicted to CAS #172

Addicted to CAS is celebrating its 7th Birthday and Vicki thought we should make birthday cards for this week's challenge.

The image is an MFT stamp that I think was a freebie a loooong time ago and rarely if ever used.  I thought it was about time.
I colored her with Inktense pencils forgetting that I don't have a very good one for skin. :(  A little smudge forced me to use the flower sequins and now I think they add to the celebratory feel.

The Design Team has some wonderful birthday cards for you to see.  I hope it inspires you to make a card and help us celebrate.

Addicted to CAS #142

Ellenor is our host at Addicted to CAS and she has chosen this as our code word:
I know a lot of you say this is one of the most difficult cards to make but I enjoy them.  For my card I used a NBUS set I got from Sunny Studio.
I knew I wanted to add some kind of line to give the impression of the ball moving and after going through some of my older stamps I ran across this dotted line in a PTI set called "No Strings Attached".  I curved it on the block and stamped it off the side.  The ball was colored with Zigs and popped up.

Want to see more masculine cards?  The Design Team has plenty waiting to inspire you.

Addicted to CAS #141

What an appropriate word Jaydee selected for our mid-July Addicted to CAS challenge.  I can't wait to see how you interpret this word.  For me it's days spent at the lake.
Although I'm not a flip flop wearer, I think they're cute and couldn't resist getting this PS die to make summertime cards.   I started by using a Clarity brush and Distress Ink to make a sky and water and then tore an ancient piece of paper with a sand image although real sandpaper could have been an option. ;) I used sequins for the centers of the flowers and printed the sentiment on my computer.

The rest of the Design Team has wonderful cards to inspire you.  Be sure you check them out.

CAS Watecolor and CASology

Time is almost up and I'm just getting around to making a card for the CAS Watercolor challenge - birds.  I love birds and you'd think I'd have a bunch of bird stamps but such is not the case.  I did go with one of my favorites though.
These little birds from Technique Tuesday are so simple and cute colored with Distress Inks.  I'm also sending this to CASology where the cue word is "Parents", which also explains my color choices since blue and yellow make green. 😉

That's all from me today.  Thanks for dropping by and enjoy your weekend.

Addicted to CAS #132

Ellenor is our host at Addicted to CAS and she chose birds as her code word.
I love birds and toyed with which one I might put on my card.  I hope it's okay to do just one because that's what I did, using my long neglected Crazy Birds from TH.
As usual it's the sentiment that proved more difficult but I thought his buggy eyes went perfectly with the sentiment from MFT.  He's colored with Zigs and his eyes are cut separately, popped up and covered with Glossy Accents.

I know you have at least one bird stamp you can use to make a card for our challenge. The rest of the Design Team and I are waiting to see what you do. Happy Little Stampers is offering a $20 voucher to the store for the winner of this challenge.  Just make sure your card is CAS.

CASology #288

For a person who loves puns, I don't have very many stamps sets that use them.  In fact I only found one to use for my card for CASology.
I made another valentine with this cute set by MFT.  The 'hogs' were colored with Zigs and the background with DOXs.

I hope your weekend is going well.  Thanks for taking the time to drop by.

Inspired By #6

I was waiting for my dies to arrive for the Gerda Steiner squirrels so I could make a card for the Inspired By. . . challenge.  I probably could have done a one-layer card but that's not what I had in mind.
I'm not quite sure this is what I had in mind either. ;)  I colored this cutie with my new PolyChromos, cutting off the acorn so I could have him holding his love letter.  This is the photo that inspired me.
Thanks for dropping by and a hug to you for doing so.

CUTplorations January Challenge.

I won some stencils recently from STAMPlorations and thought I would use one to make a card for the CUTplorations challenge featuring this photo.
You can use any STAMPlorations product a long as you also have a die cut.  This is a little out-of-the-box.
I used DOXs to ink up my stencil in the photo colors and added the SSS sentiment that I layered on fun foam.  I liked that the die cut lines were similar in size to the stencil lines but maybe they tie in too well.  It does make a funky festive birthday card though.

I'm glad you dropped by.
