Just Us Girls #824 - Mood Board Week

Carol Mc is the host at Just Us Girls this week and this is the Mood Board she has to inspire you.

You can take the shapes, colors, items, whatever draws you in to make your card.  I was inspired by the colors and the white framed geometric pictures on the wall.

I started by stenciling PFS's Garden Trellis with CP inks in Tiki Torch, Party Dress, and Something Borrowed. Lisa Horton's gold was used for the center squares before adding the white die cut on top. I needed a simple sentiment and found this one in a set by SSS and CZ Designs called Good Greetings.

Need more inspiration?  Check out the Design Team and our guest Kerry to see how they used the mood board for their cards.

Freshly Made Sketches #728

I'm still trying to use older stamps when making cards and I have one that sparked my card for Freshly Made SketchesChristmas Rose from WPlus9.

It is stamped with Memento Toffee Crunch and colored with CP inks for the flowers and Distress Inks for the leaves.  I added white anthers with a Uni-Ball pen and a few splatters before stamping the sentiment from PTI in Toffee Crunch.  The colors were inspired by my own flowers that I always called Lenten Roses, scientific name Hellebore.

Pardon the dead leaves in the middle.  When I know the frost is over they will be removed.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a bit of your day with me.

Just Us Girsl #814 - Word Week

Hello, Friends!  I'm the host of Just Us Girls for Word Week and my word is

Emboss can mean several things so you do what you do best whether heat emboss or dry emboss.  As for me, I dry embossed with a new technique that I learned in a Jennifer McGuire class at Simon Says Stamp.

It started with glossy cardstock and an embossing folder called Tiny Flora.  After embossing, I rubbed CP ink in Sweet Sixteen, Garden Party and Mint to Be lightly over the raised areas and then wiped it off.  I used the same Sweet Sixteen over an embossed piece of vellum.  Then it was putting the two pieces together.  First I cut the glossy panel at an angle and then cut three other pieces of white cardstock in the same shape.  Next I folded the vellum in half carefully to keep it from splitting.

Glue the glossy panel to the vellum using an A2 panel to get the correct size.   Glue one of the white pieces to the back of the glossy panel and then repeat for the back of the card.

To finish it off, I cut a strip of white and one of silver to run across where the two papers meet.  The die cut sentiment is from SSS cut in silver with a shadow in white.   Here's a side view of the completed card.

Will you try something new or return to a tried and true technique for your card?  Check out the wonderful cards from our Design Team and guest Milla for plenty of inspiration.  See you in the gallery.

Color Hues #127

Peach and Teal.  Those are the colors for the Color Hues challenge and I tried a number of things but couldn't get them to work until I decided to go with my usual florals.

Even this card took a few turns until I was happy with it.  It features Altenew's Japanese Anemone stamp and stencil.  The stenciling went fine using my oft neglected CP ink in Apricot and Bellini for the flowers and Altenew Dew Drops and Aqualicious for the leaves. I planned a one layer card but the sentiment didn't stamp well so I used the dies to cut them out.  I love the way they cut in between the blossoms.  Now what about some texture or dimension or just plain interest?  I tried MFT's Itsy Bitsy Polka Dot background stamp in Dew Drop and loved it.  A number of sentiments were auditioned and the BetterPress one fit best.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a bit of your day with me.

Double D - 10th Birthday

Congratulations to Darlene and Diane on the 10th anniversary of Double D.  Once I saw the mood board, I knew I had just the right stamp set to make a card for the celebration.

The Greetery's Balloon Bouquet was gifted to me by a friend during a de-stash and this is the first time I've used it.  If you look at the mood board photo on the upper left you can see why.  The balloon was stamped with Altenew Artic ink to give it a translucent look.  The flowers and sentiment were stamped with Catherine Pooler inks.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a little bit of your day with me.

Freshly Made Sketches #615

I'm getting a start on my Christmas cards for next year.  Today's is for Freshly Made Sketches.

I loved this PTI lantern when I first bought it but didn't use it at all this year.  Now that I've made this card I will definitely be doing others.  All inks are from Catherine Pooler with some PolyChromos pencils added for shading.  I haven't used my Liquid Pearls in forever and was surprised that they still worked beautifully for my berries and the center of the flower.  The background is a burlap embossing folder from Honey Bee.

I'm so glad you dropped by.  Have a great weekend!

Color Throwdown #713

When I saw the colors at Color Throwdown I had an immediate idea and the card pretty much came out as I envisioned it.

I don't know if this die from PFS is supposed to be poinsettias but that's what I made them.  I applied Altenew double sided adhesive sheets to Gina K ivory paper.  This is a step I usually forget and it makes inlaying those pieces so much easier.  The flower and leaf portions were colored with CP inks.  I got a little heavy handed with the Sangria.  I mean the Sangria ink on the base of the petals. 😊 Sage was used for the HLS sentiment that was cut with a PFS die and popped up.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do and even more when you leave a comment.

Color Hues #41

I was stumped at first with the colors at Color Hues but with a little collaboration from friends and plenty of design team inspiration, I came up with this CAS card.

The image is one I stamped at Bonnie's this winter (I don't remember the maker and didn't write it down) and it's on one of the embossed panels that Darnell sent me a while ago.  I loved that folder but it's retired so she graciously made me enough to last a while.  So thankful for blog friends. ❤ I watercolored it with CP ink in Rockin' Red and All That Jazz, and added a sentiment from MSE.

Perfectly CAS #19

I like making clean and simple cards and the Perfectly CAS challenge gives me a place to show them off.  Last month I won their stripes or dots challenge with this card.  This month it's geometric.

At the time I made this I didn't have access to my regular craft items so I had use the newly purchased Waffle Flower Outlined Circles and I love how it turned out.  The die was cut three times, once in silver and the others in white.  The circles were pressed into a variety of CP ink and inlaid.   I also colored the sentiment strip and heat embossed the greeting from Sunny Studio.  I hope it only covers 1/3 of my card.

Thanks for dropping by.

Just Us Girls #602 - Color Week

Nancy is our host for Color Week at Just Us Girls and the colors she has chosen are wonderful together.

What did I make?  You probably have a good guess.

Of course I made flowers.  My NBUS Altenew Cistus to be exact.  First I ink blended CP inks in Tutti Fruiti and Tiki Torch on my main panel.   On another panel I used Tiara going from light to dark to cut the Cistus layers.  With all that bright color, I thought the sentiment from Altenew's Statement Flowers worked well.

What do you think of when you see those colors?  I wonder what the Design Team thought of?  Why not check out their cards and that of our guest designer Loll Thompson to see and get inspired to join the challenge.

CAS Mix-Up August - Stencil

I'm happy to be guest designing for CAS Mix-Up this month.  Here are the parameters for the challenge.

I used one layer of the Argyle stencil by PinkFresh Studio to ink up my panel with CP ink.

Leaving the stencil in place, I used Onyx Black ink on the crackle background stamp from SU.  To keep it CAS, I trimmed down the panel to two rows, leaving me enough to make another card.  I added a couple of blossoms from PFS cut from kraft and a sentiment from Hero Arts.

The CAS Mix-Up Design Team has wonderful inspiration for you.  Take a look and then try out the technique.  We'd love to see your card in the gallery.

Time Out #192

Summertime means berries to me.  All kinds of berries.  For my card for Time Out I used PTI's Summer Berries which can be colored as raspberries, blackberries and black raspberries.  I think mine are the latter.

I played around and stamped in a bunch of different colors to see which worked best.  The ones on the side are Altenew Deep Iris and Midnight Violet and the middles ones are Catherine Pooler Pixie Dust and Flirty Fuchsia.  I cut down a panel to fit the center of the embossed frame with a Waffle Flower die, placed on the berries trimming off the excess and popping the right one on another cut whose color just didn't work.  Why throw it away when it adds dimension I always say.  The sentiment is from Sunny Studio.

Thanks for dropping by.

The Paper Players #547 and NBUS #28

I haven't played at The Paper Players for a while and I thought their sketch was a great one for my NBUS HoneyBee Coneflower die.

I used CP inks to blend color on the petals (Altenew for the cone) and glued them only at the center.  A WF panel was cut from kraft paper, inked around the edge with the same brown and stamped with a sentiment from Sunny Studio.  I can't wait to ink this flower up in other colors.

Inspired By #180

When you have limited stamps, inks and paper it forces you to get creative.  For me that's a good thing since I have a tendency to do everything very literal.  I had to think outside the photo to make a card for Inspired By.

Using CP inks and a SSS stencil I made the background.  Then I used the same ink to color the Altenew flowers and SSS hugs die. I cut the panel down, popped up the flowers and voila' a card based on this photo.

I'm glad you dropped by for a visit.  I'd love it if you'd leave a comment.
