Double D - Vintage/Shabby Chic

My card for Double D was inspired by my friend Bonnie and some cups she did last summer.  You can see them here.  I sat right down and made one and it has been waiting for me to put it on a card ever since.

The stamp is Hello Beautiful from Altenew, stamped on Bristol and colored with Zigs on a cup from Memory Box.  The paper from Penny Black was a perfect compliment to the flowers so I used two different ones from the pack, cutting the middle panel with a scalloped die from Frantic Stamper and then again in white for the lace.  For the MCS sentiment I used their tag die and made a tea bag, attaching it with a piece of green cord.  I probably should have inked around the edges or something to make it more shabby chic but I left well enough alone before I ruined it. 😁

Thanks for dropping by and spending a bit of your day with me.

Just Us Girls #798 - Stencil Week

Just Us Girls Stencil Week is brought to you by Ina.

This is usually one of our busiest challenges and it's so great to see you loving our stencil week.

Because Altenew's Golden Days flower is so large I made a 5 by 7 card.  It was hot foiled in matte silver and stenciled with Altenew's Sugar Plum inks.  PTI's Plum Pudding was a great match for the card base.  The foiled sentiment is from SB.

Our guest designer Greta and the rest of the design team have some beautifully stenciled cards for you to peruse.  I hope you draw inspiration from them and make a card for the gallery.

The Flower Challenge #95 - Reminder

There's still time for you to play along in The Flower Challenge with your stamped flower.

The flower is from a Grateful Heart by Altenew stamped in their Cool Summer inks.  The background is a pierced plate from Spellbinders and their nested four petal die fits perfectly in the center, layered for dimension.

It's your turn to make a card.  For inspiration, please check out what the Design Team made.

The Flower Challenge #95

Another month has rolled around and so has another The Flower Challenge.

This should be an easy one.

The layered Cattelaya from Altenew was stamped in their Enchanted Garden inks.  The background is a coverplate from Jillian Vance mounted over Key Lime cardstock from GinaK.

I hope the Design Team inspires you to make a card for our challenge.

Just Us Girls #724 - Anything Goes Stencil Week

It's time for Stencil Week again at Just Us Girls.  Carol M is our host.

When I saw the beautiful foil hot plate called Golden Days from Altenew I knew I had to have it.

Isn't she lovely?  The flower is so large I made a 5 by 7 card so I didn't have to trim any of her away.  It's foiled in gold and stenciled with the Martian Terrain set of Altenew inks.  I did trim the panel a tad to mount in on some Melon Berry cardstock from PTI that was almost perfect match.  The gold foiled sentiment is from Spellbinders.

There are so many ways to use a stencil on your card.  For inspiration, please check out what the Design Team and our guest Colleen have made.   We'd love to see your stenciled card in our gallery.

Just Us Girls #723 - Mood Board Week

Vicki has a lovely mood board for us this week at Just Us Girls.

I couldn't resist that beautiful sunflower, especially since I had recently purchased one from Altenew.

It comes with a stencil that was used with Altenew Pastel Sunrise, Canyon Clay, Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades ink.  The sentiment is from EbyE.

I made a different card first using the second layer of the stencil.  I don't often like the way the second layer looks and choose to shade the flowers myself like the one above.

This sunflower was die cut, added to some DSP from Honey Bee and run through their burlap embossing folder.  This sentiment is part of the Dancing Sunflowers set.  Totally different look.

What peeks your interest in that mood board?  What do you think the Design Team and our guest Colleen were inspired by?  Head on over to Just Us Girls, check them out and see a larger version of the mood board.

This is the first outing of the Dancing Sunflowers so I'm sending my card to NBUS #61.

Freshly Made Sketches #631

Hey there!  I'm so glad you dropped by.

The sketch at Freshly Made Sketches was just begging for a large flower and I had just the one.

Majestic Bloom from Altenew.  I didn't use the outline, just stamped the layers in the darkest three of the Enchanted Garden set.  Lime is a good compliment to purple so the leaves are from the Spring Bouquet, all from Altenew.  The background is the Double Striped Card Front die from C9.  The sentiment from Sunny Studio is in the darkest purple, and not as crooked as it appears in the photo.  😞

Just Us Girls #715 - Stencil Week

Hey there!  I'm glad you dropped by.

I'm hosting Stencil Week at Just Us Girls. There are so many different ways to use stencils that everyone should be able to enter the challenge.

For my card I used a stencil with a stamped image.

The flower is from Altenew's Always Sunshine.  This is a Craft Your Life kit that includes a stencil and an embossing folder.  Instead of using the layers of the stencil, I added darker ink as accents to the main layer.  One thing I need to keep reminding myself of is how much the ink dries back and that I need to put it on fairly dark to get the end result I want.   The sentiment is from Penny Black.

The Design Team and our guest Denise Morgans have some wonderful stenciled cards for you to see.  I hope they inspire you to join the challenge.

Freshly Made Sketches #620 and NBUS #58

Hey there.   I'm so glad you dropped by.

Last week Linda honored me with a favorite pick at Freshly Made Sketches.  With that encouragement, I had to make a card for Jacquie's challenge this week.  Here it is mixing the old with the new.

I took advantage of a few after Christmas sales and purchased this beautiful magnolia from Altenew, so I'm also sending my card to NBUS. The layers were all cut in white and colored with Altenew inks. The background is a coverplate from STAMPlorations, the stitched rectangle and circle dies from SSS and the sentiment from My Craft Spot (oob).

This goes to show how older products can look new again when paired with new stamps and dies.  I plan to use more of my older stash this year.  Let's see how that goes. 😁

Color Hues #69, Inkspirational # 295 and Double D/Altenew

I haven't made a card in a while.  With all the combined birthdays and bridal shower activities, family visitors and great weather for lake fun, I have been too busy.  Most of what you have seen lately was made long ago for my design teams.  After all this time it's hard to get back into cardmaking.

I did jump in yesterday for a card for several challenges.  The color of Color Hues, the stenciling of Inkspirational and the Altenew collaboration with Double D all combined for this card.

The flower is from Altenew's Delicate Garden, stenciled with their inks from the Golden Sunset and Sweet Dreams sets.  The sentiment from Dazzling Dahlias was stamped in Galactic Stream and die cut with an Altenew Label Die.  The image was layered three times before adding it to the Dotted Swirls debossed background.  These colors look so wonderful together I may do the same with other images in the set.

I'm so glad you took the time to drop by today.

The Flower Challenge #83

Here is is August already and time for another The Flower Challenge.  This month we are asking for

Just a little bit of information before I get to my card.  Sadly both Aileen and Viv have decided to step down as administrators of the challenge.  At first they planned to close it down entirely but Karren Johnson (our guest designer this month) volunteered to rescue the challenge by taking over.  She has plenty of experience and I'm sure everything will run smoothly.  We already said goodbye to team member TaeEun and Cara will be leaving us soon so that means a major shakeup in designers.  I have no doubt that whoever joins the team will be inspiring you just as TaeEun and Cara did.

Now for my card:

I found the lovely stripe in a Honey Bee paper pack and used it to direct the color choice of my flower from Altenew's Wallpaper Art.  After stamping in Mememto ink, I lightly colored with Altenew artist markers and added it all to their Organic Linen embossing folder.  The sentiment from PFS is hot foiled in black.

I hope you'll head over to the blog to see what the rest of the Design Team have made using spots or stripes.  We'd love to see how they inspire you to make a card for our gallery.

Less Is More #486

I hope all my US friends had a happy and safe 4th of July celebration.

It's anything goes as long at it's clean and simple at Less Is More.

I need to add to my sympathy cards so I made this one using a stamp and stencil from Altenew's Dazzling Dahlia and a sentiment from their Heartfelt Sentiments set.

Thanks for dropping by.

Less Is More #484

It's cooler today so I stayed in and made a quick card for Less Is More.  Even though I'm not fond of making one layer cards, the theme is flowers and I do love making flower cards.

I used Sunny Flowers stamp and stencil from Altenew, coloring it with Altenew Inks.   The sentiment is from Penny Black.

 Thanks for dropping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #581

Cecile has a great sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Here's my take on it.

I actually watercolored the Incredible flower from Altenew for another challenge but changed my mind.  Not to let it go to waste, I stamped leaves from Altenew's Pen Sketched on the card base, layered up the flower and added a sentiment from The Ton.

I do hope you have a wonderful day.  Thanks for dropping by.

The Flower Challenge #72

Who doesn't like a little sparkle?  That's what The Flower Challenge would like to see on your cards this month.

I'm not really an embellishment girl so I added sparkle with glitter paper.

I made my flowers from Altenew's Craft-a-flower Cistus which is a layering die. I added them to a panel that was cut with Altnew's Dotted Swirl Debossing Coverplate and popped up with cardboard.  Here's a close up of the sparkle.

Not a very good picture but you get the idea.  It really does shine more IRL.

Donna Mikasa is our guest designer and you won't want to miss her beautiful card and those of the rest of the Design Team.  Head on over to The Flower Challenge and check them out.  I'm sure you'll be inspired to make a sparkle card of your own.
