Color Throwdown #816

It saddened me to hear that one of the masterminds behind Color Throwdown has passed away.  Barbara Anders was an inspiration to many and will be greatly missed.  Please take time to read the tributes that her friends and Design Team members posted on the blog.

I created a CAS sympathy card in her memory using dies from Honey Bee and a sentiment from Paper Smooches.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you also leave a comment.

Color Hues #61

I have what I think is a very cute card for Color Hues and their peach and kraft challenge.

I knew I wanted to use the darling bear from Penny Black so I stamped her on kraft with HA Soft Brown and added some PolyChromos pencil shading.  Her eyes and nose are colored with a black glaze pen.  Then it was a matter of how to add the peach.  I wanted her to sit on something and at first thought of a word die but didn't have one that worked well.  Then I remembered the ancient PTI happy dies.  There are four of them in different fonts. I cut it from peach paper three times and inlaid it into a piece that was embossed with Altenew's Angled Mosaic folder.

I'm so glad you dropped by and hope you are doing well.

Inkspirational #178

The designer's choice at Inkspirational is kraft.  I love using my PolyChromos on kraft and that's what I did for my card.
I took a page from Yanna Smakula's book and stamped the Altenew Sweetest of Peas in a light brown to color.  Once that was done I restamped in VersaMark and platinum heat embossed.  I thought it needed something else so I heat embossed a strip of purple paper using a background stamp from MFT.  The sentiment, also heat embossed is from PB.

Thanks for dropping by and have a wonderful day.

CAS on Friday #117

New challenge for me - CAS on Friday.  They want us to use dies.

The sunflower is something I cut at Michele's a long time ago and pulled out to watercolor with DIs.  It's been sitting on my desk and I thought it would work perfectly for this challenge.  I cut a panel from CP, mounted it on foam on a Desert Storm card base, then attached the flower.  The sentiment is from TT.

Where did the week go?  Hopefully there's crafting time for you and me this weekend.

Just Us Girls #406 - Trend Week

That's right crafters.  It's Trend Week at Just Us Girls and our host Judy has chosen
There are so many ways to add shine to your card. The difficult part is in photographing it.
It's hard to tell in this photo but the Altenew flowers are embossed in gold and the kraft cardstock came embossed with the wonderful foil design  Here's another view.
Plenty of shine here but still not as great as IRL.

The Design Team and our August Guest Designer Darnell have some fantastic cards for your inspiration over on the blog.  Give them a visit and then make a card to enter in the gallery.  You may be chose Chic of the Week with a chance to be our October guest.

Less is More and AAA Cards Collaboration

Less is More and AAA Cards have combined for a two week challenge featuring cards on colored cardstock.  I made it easy on myself by using a card I stamped a Michele's a long time ago using MFT's All Over Roses.
They were stamped in black on Neenah Desert Storm and I used my Worn Lipstick DOXs to paint just three of the roses.  The sentiment is also from MFT.  This may not be CAS enough for either challenge but now I have another anniversary card in my stash.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do.

Merry Monday #248 and Muse: Christmas Visions #80

I'm trying to keep up with Merry Monday and I think I've made a card almost every week.  This week they have a color challenge -  turquoise, purple and green.
I thought those colors called for a rather funky tree so I used this one from N&T, stamping it with Altenew inks.  I just had to use the sentiment that came with the set.

My next card is for Muse:Christmas Visions.  The muse is Kimberly Weiner and more than being inspired I actually CASEd her card.  Here's Kimberly's:
And mine:
I switched out kraft for her blue and pine cones for her birds, adding a glitter word die from TH. If I keep this up I should have enough cards to mail by Christmas.

I'm so excited.  Our former bell choir director is in town and we got the gang together to play tomorrow (Sunday).  I just got back from rehearsal and I didn't realize how much I missed it.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope your weekend is going well.

Merry Monday #245

I like to play along with Merry Monday as often as I can so I'll have a decent number of Christmas cards ready at the end of the year.  This week they're asking us to use kraft cardstock.
I like the look of pencils on kraft so I gold embossed the image from PTI and colored it with Inktense Pencils.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set. I cut the panel with MFT's scalloped rectangle die and popped it up on foam. Just to show you how fickle photography can be: I laid this card down because the light from my window didn't leave a shadow like it usually does. The colors came out well but the top scallops don't show up.  Maybe I need to stand on my head and hold my tongue just right. ;)

Thanks for dropping by.

Just Us Girls #381

This week Judy has a color challenge for us at Just Us Girls and they're three of my favorite colors.
I stuck strictly to the three but you can add neutrals if you like.
I cut my SSS wreath from black and black foam.  With the depth and shadows the photo looks a little blurry.  I'm sorry about that. The tripled layered bow and birds are from the same Chisholm Wreath set and the sentiment is from PTI.

What ideas do you have for using black, red and kraft?  If you need more inspiration, check out what the Design Team and guest designer Michele Greenwood have made.  If you enter a card in the gallery you may be chosen Chic of the Week and have the possibility of becoming our guest for April.

Inspired by All the Little Things #41

The sweet, wonderful Carol Mayne is the guest designer at Inspired by All the Little Things so how could I not make a card.
Here's the photo that inspired me.
The kraft panel is stamped with a PB background in Soft Brown.  The hearts are Lawn Fawn and the sentiment PB.

Valentine's day is fast approaching so I'd better get busy.  I need 9 cards for the grands and greats.  I also usually send to the church's homebound.  My list keeps getting smaller as these wonderful people leave life here on earth. Sometimes I - wait for it - buy them.  Gasp!! Yes I have done that but this year I think I'll make my own even if I have to make multiples.  Another gasp.  Something I rarely do.  Make multiples, not gasp. 😁

I'm so glad you dropped by today.  Please take time to comment.  I love reading what you have to say.

Darnell's NBUS #8

Who can resist one of Darnell's NBUS challenges?  The more relevant question is who doesn't have NBUS?  I have tried to be good about buying and some of my new things don't quite fit her "Colored pencils on kraft" challenge but I did find one that worked well.
Those who know me know I have a thing for owls so I couldn't resist this Winnie and Walter set.  I usually use my Inktense Pencils with water but in this case I left them dry.

Congratulations on your 1000 posts and 1000+ followers, Darnell.  I'm honored to be one of them.

Just Us Girls #363 - Word Week

This past week went by fast and now it's time for the next challenge at Just Us Girls.

Leaves are so beautiful this time of year so I couldn't resist making a card with some colorful ones.
I cut my NBUS Lively die from PB from watercolor paper and slapped it around in some Rusty Hinge Distress Ink.  Loll warned me about how flimsy this branch can get when it's wet and she was right.  I added another layer behind it to give it some stability.  I also put some gold Perfect Pearls on the ends of the leaves.  Using my MFT Burlap stamp I added some Cup O' Joe to a large panel of Desert Storm and then cut a smaller panel to put my leaves on.  I rescued the dark brown from my scrap pile and gold embossed a sentiment from HA on it.

What kind of leaves would you make for this challenge?  Don't just think about it.  Do it!  Check out what the rest of the Design Team and guest designer Jaydee have done to inspire you.  We'd love to see you in the gallery.  You could be chosen Chic of the Week with a chance to be a guest designer like Jaydee.

Just Us Girls #362

I'm the hostess for this week's Just Us Girls photo challenge and I thought something fall-ish would be appropriate.
There are a number of different images that might spark your imagination and I can't wait to see what you make for the challenge.  Here's my card.
The stamp from Penny Black is watercolored with Zigs.  Neenah Desert Storm was cut with SSS stitched rectangles and the inside frame is popped up.  The sentiment is from PTI.

Check out what the Design Team and this month's guest Kathy Schweinfurth have done. If you are chosen Chic of the Week you will be eligible for a guest design spot in November.

CASology #207 and CAS(E) This Sketch #181

I have 23 minutes to get this card to CAS(E) This Sketch so I'm not saying much.
I combined the sketch with the cue word at CASology (Rough).  I have an old, old crimper and used that to rough up some Desert Storm.  The sentiment is from CASual Fridays, part of an earlier SOA kit.

Thanks for dropping by.

Addicted to CAS #87

I love a good plaid.  The only trouble I had making a card for Addicted to CAS was which one to choose.  I settled on a pink, tan and brown one.
I tried it on white but it looks much better on the Desert Storm cs.  The edges are fussy cut and the sentiment from CASual Fridays is stamped on a scrap from the back side of the plaid. The die, also from CF, is cut three times in Chocolate.

It's busy, busy around here so no time to dawdle.  See you tomorrow with another quick post.
