Just Us Girls #718 - Time Out #259 Reminder

Hey there. Thanks for dropping by.

If you haven't heard, Just Us Girls and Time Out collaborated for a two week challenge. For more information follow the links to their blog posts.

I have another card to inspire you to join this fun adventure.

These cute little parrots are from a new to me company called Marianne Design that I found at Frantic Stamper.  There are different ways you can add beaks and topknots to them.  I chose to cut from white cardstock and color with Distress Inks.  I did substitute the more cartoonish eyes on the parrot on the right with some from another bird die.  The embossed background was made by inking up the Spellbinders Fern folder and the smaller panel was cut with Honey Bee's Deckle Edge Rectangle and edged with the same ink.

There is still plenty of time before the deadline to enter either challenge and you are automatically entered into the other one.  Two challenges at once.  How great is that!?

Time Out #232 - Birthday Time

We're celebrating our 9th birthday at Time Out and we'd like you to join in the festivities.

Our sponsor is Newton's Nook and they are awarding the winner of the challenge a $25 store credit.

I used the Rustic Floral stencils and die from PinkFresh Studio for the main image on my card. The wreath is layered for dimension and the center is inset after stamping the sentiment from Verve.  It's all on a panel embossed with the Blossom Field folder from SSS.

We hope you'll come celebrate with us by making a card for the gallery.

Time Out #231

Welcome to Time Out. This is photo inspiration week and we challenge you to CASE the Designer.

And the designer is none other than the fabulous Gina K.  What about her card inspires you?  I went quite literal.

The stack of presents (and I say 'stack' because it's from Concord and 9th's Birthday Stacks) was heat embossed in white and then colored with Distress Inks.  And what is a Gina K card without a black frame?

Gina is offering a $25 store credit to the winner of the challenge so you'd better get busy and make a card based on her design.  We can't wait to see how you are inspired.

Time Out #230 - Inspired by Words

It's time for the Inspired by Words challenge at TIme Out.  You can use any part of the quote or the feeling it evokes to make your card.

Word challenges are not always easy for me but sometimes an idea just pops into your head and it seems to be the perfect card.

I knew right away I wanted to use these darling bears from Penny Black.  I had to mask off the presents that were in the foreground and extend the dock.  The image is colored with PolyChromos pencils. A heart from EbyE and some paper from Honey Bee finished it off.

AALL and Create is the sponsor for this challenge and the winner will receive a $20 store credit.

If you need some inspiration, the Design Team has wonderful cards for you on the blog.

Time Out #229

Welcome everyone.  I'm so glad you're here.

This is my first post as a new Design Team member at Time Out.  I hope I can inspire you to play along.  The challenge this time is  "Romantic".

I was lucky enough to be the recipient of some stamps and dies when a friend was purging her craft stash.  I used one of those dies for my card.

The Heart Leaf Jumbo Posy Pocket from The Greetery holds my little bouquet of flowers, also from The Greetery (Forget-me-nots).  For a more romantic feel, I added a little heart and the XO.  The background was embossed with the SU Timeworn Type folder.

This challenge is being sponsored by Jane's Doodles who will be awarding a $25 store credit to the winner.  I hope we see your card in the gallery.

Time Out #228

This is the last challenge of the year for Time Out.  The next time I post there it will be as a design team member.  I'm looking forward to getting to know the rest of the team and seeing all the cards that you post to the gallery.  Until then I have a card for their winter holiday challenge.

When I saw Chilly and Freezy, the snowmen from Tim Holtz, I knew I had to have them.  I'm not really a "put together tiny pieces" card maker but they were so easy and cute to boot.  I had the Frantic Stamper trees in my stash and added snow with an embossing pen and High White embossing powder.  A little DI inking in the background and some torn snowhills for my HA sentiment was all I needed to finish off my winter scene.

This card is for all of you who stop by my blog and leave comments.  I do appreciate it.

Time Out #226

Time Out has their Inspired By Words challenge up. This is what we are to base our card on.

I took the good heart part for my card.

I knew I wanted to use the sentiment from Altenew's Positive Vibes set but didn't want to do the flowers that come with it.  I rememberd my heart wreath from The Greetery and the sentiment fit inside it perfectlly.  I found a smooshed panel in my Bits & Pieces box and cut the layers of the wreath from it.  The background is a coverplate from Concord and 9th.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do.

Time Out #225

For a short time I kept a gratitude journal.  It really makes you appreciate the little things.  One of the things I'm thankful for is the crafting community I have found.  I've made great friends, both in real life and virtually.  Today I've made a thankful card for Time Out.

I started with Mica Sprays to make a panel to cut my Tim Holtz leaves.  Then I brought out my neglected Oxide inks to make a blended background on Fine Linen cardstock from PTI with Frayed Burlap, Ground Expresso and Walnut Stain, adding a few splatters.  I tried the word die in dark brown but didn't like it so I topped it with a rust colored cardstock.

ETA: I just saw the challenge at Tic Tac Toe and will be sending my card to them too.  I used the first column down.

I'm thankful that you dropped by.

Time Out #224

I made a quick card this morning for Time Out using bits and pieces that were partially done.

I knew I wanted to use this sentiment from Altenew and inside the envelope were these flowers already stamped and ready to go.  Then I went looking for a background and found this one I did on my gel plate last winter.  I cut it with a SSS stitched rectangle, stamped the sentiment and layered the flowers 4 times for dimension.

I'm so glad you dropped by.  Have a great week!

Time Out #223

I have a card for Time Out but I may be entering another one before the deadline.  I really didn't have much with me to make something based on the photo but after a visit with Michele and using her die I came up with this card.  We will be heading back to Ohio tomorrow where I will have access to the rest of my crafting stash.

The Trinity Stamps die was cut from glitter paper and added to a DSP in my stash.  Parts of this die are extremely fragile and it was rather fussy to get those letters on straight without any ripping.

It's good to report that so far most of the Floridians I know are safe with minimal damage.  One has reported their residence uninhabitable and I have yet to hear from another who has a winter home in Englewood.

Time Out #221 and HLS Anything Goes with Dies

Time Out wants to see festive cards in their gallery.  Who can resist that theme.  I know I can't.

I had the foiled HoneyBee background in my B&P box.  The Concord and 9th candles were cut from holographic paper with gold sparkly flames added.  The celebrate die from Altenew is the reverse foiling of the word, cut with the accompanying shadow die.

It's not often I make an all die card so I'm also sending this over to Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope your week is off to a great start.

Time Out #215

I finally took a good look at the photo at Time Out and got an idea.

See those triangles in the pictures on the wall?  Once they caught my attention I was ready to make a card.

I used a die from Erin Lee Creative and cut it from navy cardstock to mimic the sofas.  Then I filled the triangles with holographic paper of different designs.  The panel was trimmed and matted with navy and a sentiment from MFT added.   I need more masculine cards and this one fills the bill.

Time Out #211

It's a photo challenge at Time Out and what a serene scene it is.

I immediatlely thought of my old Penny Black stamp and created the background for it to rest on.

The background was colored with Distress Inks, using an MFT stencil for the clouds and a handcut paper stencil for the mountains.  There are three mountains but they're not very visible after stamping the trees with many layers of Onyx Black. The panel was mounted on black and then on light blue.  The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday - another oldie.

It's raining here so it's a good day to hunker down in my craft studio and get more cards made.  Will you have any crafty time today?

TIme Out #210

It's the "Inspired by Words" challenge at Time Out.

I joined in with this card.

I think this puppy from Penny Black is adorable and had to use him on my card.  I stamped him on a panel cut with a curved edge die and colored him with PolyChromos pencils.  The panel was foam mounted onto Neenah Desert Storm on which I stamped the little paw prints and the sentiment from the same set.  It's not often I forget a birthday but it's good to have a card just in case.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when  you do.

Time Out #205

I have all my valentines made and picked one to enter in the challenge at Time Out.

I made another valentine with hearts using little pieces cut from a paper pack and when I saw the negatives laying on my table I couldn't let them go to waste.  Of course I had to square them up first, 😉 then arranged them on a panel cut with a scalloped edge (Frantic Stamper) and embossed with a quilt folder.  The little sentiments come from a couple of sets - two from The Greetery and the other from Penny Black.

Thanks for dropping by.

Time Out #202 - Guest Designer

Yes, that's right.  I won a challenge at Time Out with this card and they asked me to be a guest designer.  Who can refuse an honor like that.

This is the photo inspiration.

There are lots of things to inspire you.  The colors, words, decorative items, layers and texture.  What caught my eye first were the lights on the head of the bed.   I thought if I painted them right the ornaments from STAMPloratations would give the same effect.

I stamped and gold heat embossed three ornaments from the set on Bristol and colored them with Zigs.   A sentiment from the set is stamped in red and clear heat embossed which caused a spotty look from the glare.  To pay homage to the layers I bordered the panel with red and gold and put it all on Soft Stone cardstock.

Please head over to Time Out to see what the Design Team has made for your inspiration and then make a card for the challenge.  The winner will receive a $25 gift voucher to STAMPlorations.
