Krafty Chicks #830

I'm always in need of masculine cards so took the opportunity to make one for the challenge at Krafty Chicks.

Back in May I made a masculine card using an older die from PTI that you can see here.  I liked it so well I decided to do another one, this time with PTI's Modern Cross Quilt from 2014.  I fell in love with Altenew's Coastal Mist inks, bought them recently and thought they'd be perfect to use.  I cut the die,  set up a template to stamp the crosses and inlaid them.  The sentiment is from Spellbinders.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a bit of your day with me.

Inkspirational #368 and Krafty Chicks #822

I had been waiting for a good golf set and Taylored Expression's new release featured just what I was looking for in Par for the Course Inkspirational and Krafty Chicks are both looking for masculine cards so I'm sending my card to their challenges.

This is a die and stencil set that makes a golf course.   After stenciling the card base with the greens, water and sand traps with Altenew inks, I die cut the fairways in dark green, embossed it with Tasteful Textiles from SU and laid it over the top before adding the trees and flags.  The sentiment was printed on the computer. I also got the golf cart, bag and club sets so you'll be seeing those one day.

I was so excited to post this card that I totally forgot to add it to Darnell's NBUS challenge, a place where all Never Before Used Stuff is welcomed.

Thanks for dropping by and spending a bit of your day with me.

Freshly Made Sketches #683

It wasn't until I saw my friend Bonnie's masculine card that I had a spark of inspiration for Freshly Made Sketches.

It's way past time to use some of the background paper packs I've hoarded for no apparent reason.  This one is from a purchase at an AC Moore craft store many moons ago.  I added a birthday sentiment from Hero Arts and some Spellbinders gears cut from some of the paper.  Those in the upper left cover a boo boo. 😅

Thanks for dropping by.

Double D - Patterned Paper

Hey there crafty friends.  Thanks for dropping by.

Who doesn't have a stash of patterned paper?  I got rid of my 12 by 12 a long time ago but I do have three drawers (boxes from Hobby Lobby) filled with 6 by 6 or larger pads.  When Double D asked for patterned paper on our cards I had to make a card or two.

I can always use more masculine cards and thought this paper from a Jen Hadfield pack would work well for one. I inadvertently bought two of them so using one up is a good idea.  The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted stamped on Spellbinder's Four Petal Label.  For some reason the paper has a yellow tint to it in the photo but it actually matches the background.

Have a great day!

Freshly Made Sketches #574

I love smooshed backgrounds and was playing around with Distress Oxides. This is the card I came up with for Freshly Made Sketches.

Inks used were Antique Linen, Speckled Egg and Weathered Wood.  The same inks were used to color strips of paper to angle across the panel, using a sentiment from Hero Arts on the Weathered Wood.  I think this makes a great masculine card to add to my stash.

Thanks for dropping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #567

I need more masculine cards and with the help of a card I saw on Pinterest by Kim Lievense and the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches I ended up with this.

Hex dies from PinkFresh Studio were used to cut the marble and silver cardstock.  The marble pieces were triple heat embossed to make them shiny.  Sentiment is from Hero Arts and the DSP from Love Nicole.  Not a brand I'm familiar with and I don't remember where I got the two packs of background paper but they are useful for masculine cards.

Thanks so much for dropping by.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Tic Tac Toe #178

I'm in desparate need of masculine cards and when I saw the challenge at Tic Tac Toe it inspired me to create one.

I went with the first column down - masculine, wood, any shape die cut.  I found the wood-look DSP in a paper pack and once trimmed to A2 size I had enough left over to cut the triangle die from Eric Lee Creative. I cut it again in dark brown and cardboard to pop up the frame and then colored the pieces with Distress Inks to look like inlaid wood.  The sentiment from MFT was gold heat embossed on the same dark brown.

Thanks for dropping by.  Please be sure to leave a comment.  I love to know you've been here.

Just Us Girls #617 - Wild Card Week

There are five Saturdays in January and that means Carol Mc hosts Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls.  For our challenge she has selected

I love a good plaid and they make great masculine cards so that's what I did.

I used Altenew's Tartan stamp but don't ask me what colors since I neglected to write them down when I made this over a month ago.  The sentiment die is unmarked but is layered three times with the top layer black gloss from Concord and 9th.

Come see what kind of plaid our guest designers Chrissie Stokes and Stef Perry do for their last challenge with us.  We are so thankful to have had them with us this month. And let's not forget what the Design Team has made too.  Will you join us in making plaid cards?

Just Us Girls #611 - Color Week

Here are the colors our host Vicki chose for Just Us Girls this week.

I must admit I googled the colors and saw a lot of graphic designs which inspired me to bring out an older set from CASual Fridays for my card.

It looks dark here but my brown is actually Desert Storm and the blue is PTI's Aqua Mist.  I cut the links and glued them onto Gina K ivory cs, adding back the centers to a few of them in opposite colors.  The PTI sentiment is stamped in HA Soft Brown.

What comes to mind when you see these colors?  I hope we see your card in the gallery.  For inspiration check out what our guest Rachel Davis and the rest of the DT have done.

The Male Room #155

How great is it when you need a masculine card and the challenge at The Male Room is perfect for it.  My brother's birthday is coming up and this is what I made for him.

The paper is from PTI and the sentiment from MFT.  I layered the die cuts 4 deep and added Glossy Accents to make them stand out.  The little stars are from the center of the A.

Thanks for dropping by.  I love it when you do and even more if you leave a comment.

Time Out #183

Time Out wants us to be different.  So here's what I did for the challenge.  Something I've never done before.

I've always liked interesting backgrounds so I decided to get a gel plate.  This is not the best example of the panels I made but I had fun doing it and you will be seeing more on my blog later.

I needed a masculine card and so I put Speckled Egg, Weathered Wood and Iced Spruce Distress Oxides on the plate, ran the brayer over it to smooth out the inks, and pressed my cardstock onto it.  I reapplied the inks and then laid my MFT Houndstooth stencil down and pressed the same paper into it.  There's not as much color variation as I wanted but I rather like its subtleness.  I stamped the PTI sentiment in Charcoal and bordered the panel with dark gray.

I'm glad you dropped by today.  Have a wonderful week.

Just Us Girls #556

It's word week at Just Us Girls and I am the host that picked this for the word to base your cards on.

I love a good plaid and have a number of stamps that will give me a variety of looks.  For this card I used Altenew's Tartan.
Doesn't that look like the softest flannel? It's perfect for a masculine card.  I made this so long ago I'm not sure the exact colors but the lines are HA Navy.  I also used the navy on gray to stamp the N&T sentiment.

The Design Team is waiting to inspire you with their plaids.  And so is our guest designer Karen Walker.  Please check them out on the Just Us Girls blog and then make a visit to their personal blogs for details.

We'd love to see your plaid card in our gallery.  How about joining us?

The Mail Room #135

I need more masculine cards so I was inspired to make one for The Male Room challenge - Sentiment in Focus.
This card couldn't have been easier.  The paper did all the work.  It's from a background pack I picked up a while ago. The NBUS sentiment from PTI was stamped in black and heat embossed in clear.

So glad you dropped by.  Stay safe.

Just Us Girls #532 - Color Week

I'm the host for Color Week at Just Us Girls and this is what I have chosen:
I must admit that I told Nancy these colors were perfect for the banner but my colors are decided less saturated.  That's okay.  Any shade of these colors are fine with me.
I had a play with my Altenew Tartan for a masculine card.  The colors of Altenew Ink are Almond Butter and Caramel Toffee with the grid stamped in HA Navy.  Two of the center squares have stripes of Almond over Caramel.  The die cut sentiment from Elizabeth Crafts was cut three times from GinaK In the Navy.

How do you see using these colors?  Check out the Design Team and our guest designer Cornelia for inspiration.

CAS(E) This Sketch #363

I have what I call a masculine card for this week's CAS(E) This Sketch.
Using GinaK Moonlit Fog cs, I stamped the SU! Crackle Paint background along the edge and added PTI Scribbles in my NBUS Nimbus Altenew ink.  The PB sentiment went one shade darker with Dark Night.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope you are all keeping up your spirits and staying safe.

CAS(E) This Sketch #358

I'm not too crazy about this card for CAS(E) This Sketch but I need more masculine cards and thought this would fill the bill.
I wish I'd stamped the argyle print from MFT in black but when I did it I thought I'd have some gray cardstock that would match.  The diamond die cut is from EbyE and the heat embossed sentiment is from HA.

Thanks for dropping by.  Have a great day!
